Yes, I have forgotten a great deal. My memory just doesn't keep if I don't use something regularly. Thank you for the People, Places and Things post, though. That definitely jogged my memory a bit. I'll try to find some time to read thru old posts, but I'm just so damn far behind on my work, it's going to take me a while to get caught up. I'm really looking forward to playing again, though. Just bear with me if Kal contradicts himself for a while.

Agreed. You guys are sliding back into character like it's been no time. Pretty great.
So there's another thing I'd like to experiment with. To make combats a little more interactive (and yes, possibly slower) I'd like to try posting action by action rather than round by round. Meaning once initiative is rolled, each of you (and me, when monsters get to act) will post in order when your turn comes up. This allows you to react to things as they develop more, I'd say.
We'll see how it goes. Worth a test drive, anyway.

I'm willing to give that a shot. Certainly, there have been plenty of instances where we've had to say, "I'm going to do this, but if this person does that, I'll do this..." and so forth. And I think all of us (especially you) are going to be running at a somewhat slower pace these days, anyway, because we just don't have time to necessarily check in multiple times per day anymore. At least, I don't.

This is the only online rpg I've ever played so I'm game for anything! There's still the issue of interrupts (Adamant can cause disadvantage to an attack on a nearby ally as an interrupt). I'm still inclinded to trust Jeff ... and pester him at the start of the encounters

Yup, there's those. 4E had that, too. Now they're called reactions. Everyone can do one reaction between turns. The default reaction is the opportunity attack, but now you can do other things from your class (or spells). So the best way to tackle that is to just remind me about them when battle is happening. Give me some kind of light condition under which you use one. I'd like to minimize the "I would have done that last round" talk....

I'm all for that. I think it'll make combat less confusing and more fluid.

Wow. Changing font color is a pain now, isn't it?

Yeah, it is. But you can try and memorize a particular color code in the BBCode view. I'm trying to do that, to keep all the out-of-character pink look the same.

Choosing "font color = pink" works, too.

Mike: Mike: It's cool, I'm not asking you to do the base work. Just asking you to look over what I've put together for Syrdan. I'm still calling him an avenger, and his class is built around the paladin but modified to make him a divine assassin/pursuer. Still goes without armor, speaks softly, and carries a big sword. Less healing spells, more offensive spells. As for wrapping your brain around the system, go here for a sec. Thanks. I'll give it a shot again later tonight. It's frustrating because on paper Next is a game I should probably like a lot - and I wish I did - but it's something I've had an extremely hard time drumming up enthusiasm for. (That's also somewhat reflective of my overall take on gaming of late - namely, a complete lack of enthusiasm - which is doubly frustrating.) Alas, I can't address that over-arching problem for you. DE is a gaming thing. For me what system we're using is secondary. I just like being able to interact and be creative with you guys, despite us all living too far away from one another. This isn't tabletop, even though we'd rather it be. This is doing our best to get around that fact and have fun anyway. Jesus. Um. Well. Guess we restarted playing, then. Do you want us to chill for a day or so and let you catch up? Have you had a chance to look at Syrdan stats?

I will read and catch up when I can. Today has been all about dealing with a toddler with a stomach virus and unexpectedly needing to look for a new car.

Sure thing, Mike. I'll revisit tomorrow, since I've probably got a few more days of fever- and stomach virus in a kid-free days left.

Ahhhhh yes. You don't unlock Parenting Level 2.0 until your child vomits on you. Good luck, Mike, on both fronts!

I can't remember much about Lamara, except that fact that Kal and I hate her and that, if I remember correctly, she led us into some kind of trap. I remember her managing to hurt Tangat and that Kal tried really hard to kill her, but I don't remember a lot of specifics, and searching through the board here didn't apparently turn up anything. Can anyone point me towards our previous encounter with her so I can read up on it?

Sure. Let's bring discussions of this sort over to the actual out-of-character thread for this chapter. Have a look there.
