Give Josh all the credit. I only had some really rough ideas of what the site should look like. He turned them into something really, really nice, IHMO.

Anyone think dragonborn are a silly race for 4th Edition? I think we made them a little less silly.

I was actually going for the way Al Bundy used to treat his daughter Kelly's scummy boyfriends on "Married ... With Children".
Al: "How about I give you a tour of our house? Here's a wall ..."
(pushes boyfriend's head into wall)
"Here's another wall ..."
(pushes boyfriend's head into other wall)
"And here's the door ... goodbye."
(pushes boyfriend's head into closed door, then opens door and kicks boyfriend out).

Yep. I loved that show. I also dropped a "Watchmen" reference into the way Torhak was treating Alvek ... I'll get to see this weekend if it made it into the movie.

A couple things:
First of all, welcome back, Marcy! You've been busy, bringing another little soul into the world and all. And one with a cool name, too. Glad to have you back here.
Second, the timing was funky and so I failed to mention this. At the time of Mike's last post, he immediately went off on a couple-week trip so I didn't post anything here at the time. Obviously, he's not in the game anymore (for reasons which have nothing to do with the game or any of us). But I wanted to say that I enjoyed his contribution. He brought us a stern character who somehow both personified the classic dour dwarf and stood apart from it. Mike's a great gamer and I'm at least glad he was with the game for a while.
Thanks, Mike.

So, as you will have now noticed, we have a new player in DE. Welcome, Brian Matthews!Everyone, this is Brian. Brian, this is everyone. So who's Brian? He's a family man who: • Lives in Michigan (where winters are as they should be). • Works for "a diversified holding company that provides financial services to individuals, corporations and municipalities through subsidiary companies." (I'm confused just looking at that sentence. You guys think D&D rules are complex? Hah!) • Attends horror conventions, and somehow gets to meet famous actors and directors (such as John Landis). • Is an all-around nice guy. • Most importantly, knows how to save the skin of my Elf character in Lord of the Rings Online with his dwarf guardian, Gonnhirr: Yup, that's where I met Brian. When he wasn't looking one day, I recruited him for DE. Like Darren when he joined, Brian hasn't played D&D in many years, not since the good old days. But now he's armed with the 4E Player's Handbook and the Eberron Player's Guide. Brian, here's a recap of who all these folks are: Josh (aka Grafth, the pragmatic shifter) is probably my oldest friend. Which says a lot for military brats like us, since we're only talking high school. He runs Sidedown.com, with its multitude of audio, literary, and mutli-media projects. He's a musician and Chicagoan. Chicago-ite? Joe (aka Streko, the plucky halfling cleric) is another jack-of-all-trades and fellow all-around nice guy. A writer and screenwriter, and film director, and more recently, an RPG author for a few White Wolf books. He's a Californian, too. His weblog is Writer. Filmmaker. Bull**** Artist. Marcy (aka Charis, wily human noblewoman rogue) is author of the Eberron novel Legacy of Wolves (the one that preceded The Darkwood Mask), with more on the way, and a poet and writer of like a thousand short stories no one but her can keep track of. She's an Arizonan Navy wife and mom, too. Her weblog is They're Biodegradable. (I wish things were going better for Marcy right now; would make introducing her certainly a lot better.) Darren (aka Kal, the bombastic human battle-sorcerer) is a college friend of mine, a fellow Rush-and-U2 fan, a NJ-based dad (whose young confetti-loving daughter can tell you which soundtrack songs correspond to which scenes in Coraline), and sound engineer. He's also a self-employed business owner, president of Reidsound. Ken (aka Belarin, the eccentric human warlock with voices in his head) is also a Jerseyite, a writer and editor who's worked on tons of Goodman Games products and is currently co-writing one of them with me. He's a dad who gives his little daughter plush Cthulhu and other ineffable horrors. His weblog is The House on Haunted Melrose Place. You know, writing all that out reminds me of why I like running this game. Look how diverse we are, and spread out.

That's fancy talk for financial planner It's so nice to no longer be one of the "men-behind-the-curtain" for the stranger. Thanks to Jeff for all of his patience with my questions/comments/stuff over the last few months as we prepped Condign for his big entrance. Josh: I liked the shoutout you gave me the other week ;D

Oh, another thing I want to point out. Although Condign is clearly one of the new PCs, that doesn't mean your characters have to automatically welcome him into their party with open arms. Roleplay it. That said, of course his goals will probably just coincide with some of yours at some point.

Welcome, Brian! As the previous "new guy," I know what a weird experience the entrance can be. Belarin was nearly targeted by a ballista by the gang before he had to make introductions.

We've become more open and accepting as a group as the years have gone on....even though it's only been about 4 days of actual game time. Also, it helps when we meet someone who is fighting on our side. Everyone else just sort of popped up out of the ether. Also also, I had no idea Ken lived in Jersey. I dunno, Jeff. Some of us are close enough to start an actual tabletop game........ ;D

All I really know about Ravenloft is the one book I read, "I, Strahd". In all fairness, I really enjoyed that book. So, yeah, I'd be down for that. When are we playing?
