Going to Gettysburg for the day. I might check in on my phone during the long car ride. I'll also be back tonight. Happy 4th, everyone!

I'm leaving in a few hours and won't be back until Sunday night. Not sure what my internet access situation will be, so if you don't hear from me, that's why. I'll at least be reading on my phone, and will definitely try to post if something important happens.

Sorry for not posting- I unexpectedly cancelled my DSL connection with AT&T since they're such major pieces of sh*t.

Still seem to be a few other people missing in action... I'll need a bit more participation before continuing on. Once again, if anyone's finding it a chore to be here, please just be honest with me.

Just an FYI- I have not yet decided whether I'm going to sign up for Internet Access in my home after cancelling my AT&T... at least, not for a week or so. So I will be out of commission during the weekends.
HOWEVER- I will be in Emily's studio this weekend, probably both days, so I will check in and post while I'm there.

Sure. I'll be out for pretty much the rest of today (Saturday) myself. Besides, someone—whose surname ends with a z—doesn't want us to have any fun over the weekend.
Jerk.

I'll be fairly limited with posting all day on Sunday. And probably very spotty with posting throughout the rest of the week. I'll definitely check in twice a day, but it may be at the very beginning and very end of the day.

I'm gone until this evening (probably after 6), so if the tracker guy responds to me, I won't have an answer until then.

Just a heads up -- Ed and I are out of town starting when we leave work on Thursday and ending when we return to work on Monday morning. This is a quick, whirlwind of a trip to my hometown for a family wedding, and it's highly unlikely that we'll have reliable Internet access or time for Internet anyway, given everything wedding-related on the to-do list. We'll be back home late, late Sunday evening, so Monday morning seems safest.

Depending on what's going on in-game by the end of today, it sounds like we'll have a pretty quiet Friday-Sunday. So everyone take note.

Indeed...I have yet ANOTHER interview tomorrow, this for a job as a Deputy Probation Officer...so I will be away from about noon pacific time tomorrow until, probably, somewhere around 4 or 5, then sporadically over the course of the weekend...just to check!

So how's all that going? Making any headway with the one you said you're most interested in? Me -- well, I'm swamped here and about to get more swamped. The renovation project's mostly complete, so we're supposed to move into our new office suite any moment now. A third of the incoming class is here for the 2-week intensive summer course, the remainder are in the process of getting here, I have orientation to prepare for, and, you know, I'm new at all of this... I'm staying pretty busy, but I'm enjoying it. A lot! I hope your plans work out, Joe.

Well, I've passed my background investigation and I've been offered the job on a conditional basis (which means I still have to pass the physical and the psychological evaluation - and being 42 and mostly insane, it shouldn't be much of an issue). Also, I am on a dual tract, which means I am being considered for both the Group Counselor position (to which I've been assigned to the Twin Pines Ranch Rehabilitation Facility for 15-17 year old boys - it is a bootcamp style rehab facility) and the Deputy Probation Officer position. As to the DPO job, from what I've been told, I've been assigned to YAT, which is the Youth Accountability Team, a program designed to help minors from middle school to 18 years of age who have committed minor offenses out of the juvenile justice system, but provide them with consequences for their actions. I've been an office assistant for the department for the five months I've been here and it is an amazing and rewarding job. There are currently 13 Probation Officers assigned to the Team and there are 3 more openings (one of which is for primarily spanish-speaking individuals...which is not me). There are other probation jobs, obviously (adult and juvenile). YAT is considered juvenile INFORMAL probation, which is a fancy way of saying it isn't in the court system yet...but if they screw up while on the program, it's off to formal probation they go (including Indio Juvenile Hall, which I toured, which houses 17 year old murderers and such...not fun). So, I am REALLY excited about this job, well, both jobs. Now I have to wait to hear from the people making my medical appointments. Hopefully soon...so I can start by the end of this month. Then, eventually, I'll have a badge! :-) How COOL is that? :-) Thank you for your support, my friends. It is greatly appreciated and I will let you know how things progress. FYI - should you ever be curious...my livejournal page is: sheriffjoe.livejournal.com/I can often be found ranting and raving about various things there...and receiving comments and such is always welcomed!! Oh, indeed...probably no DE during GenCon, since half of this group will be there. Speaking of GenCon... my friend Dave is running an event on Friday called something like Survivor: GenCon. There are three spots left, in case you or anyone you know is looking for something to do on Friday. He had his gaming groups (there are several - Ed and I are in one) do the playtesting last weekend, and from what I hear it all went quite well. The bits I've seen have looked good. He's even found tiki torches that he's adding battery-powered flames to. The info on the game is here (https://registration.gencon.com/indy/eventreg.cgi?ew=events09&eid=3551), and he's got a blog for it here, survivor-gencon.livejournal.com/.

They're moving our offices today into the new suite for International Programs. I don't anticipate this going smoothly. I've got a couple things to finish before my computer gets disassembled, and since I don't know when that'll be other than some time today, I've got to get cracking. Back before the move, if I can make it. Otherwise, much much later today, probably.
