Access appears to not be an issue. I guess I'll be around.

Hi, guys. Have to work an all day meeting today that someone else was supposed to be doing, and since it's 4 am and I have to be there in a half hour, you can imagine that I'll be pretty tired when I get home this evening, so you might not hear from me again until tomorrow.

So Thursday-Sunday is GenCon (where Ken will be going) and Josh will be out of town for the same period of time. Both say they'll still have some online access, but just in case we'll keep things fairly slow during that time. You know, like usual.

That's just as well. As it turns out, I have a few medical tests tomorrow. Given the symptoms, the most likely culprit is my gallbladder. It seems that the uncooperative little bugger may be trying to shrug off these mortal coils and move on to its own small slice of gallbladder heaven. If that is the case, then surgery is recommended. That almost always involves quick one-day surgery and home that same night; if there are any complications, then it becomes rather major surgery with a 6 to 8 week recovery. Ain't life grand. ;D
AND. . .should surgery not cancel it, I will be on vacation sometime near the end of next week until August 29th. It is a quaint little cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan--so quaint that it has no electricity and no cell signal! However, thanks to my nifty new BlackBerry and the need to keep in touch with my office, I will try and post every other day (I have to drive about 15 minutes to get a cell signal). The posts will be rather brief, but I shouldn't hold you up too much. Jeff, feel free to move Condign along while I am incommunicado.

Yikes! Well good luck with that, Brian. I can honestly say I've never heard the phrase "gallbladder heaven" until now.
We'll just take things a day at a time. Everyone else here already knows, I generally hate "taking control" of one of the PCs. Sometimes it can't be helped, though. But whenever possible I avoid it.

Brian, if it's any consolation, my wife had emergency gall bladder surgery 7 years ago. It was removed laparoscopically (I think I spelled that right!), and she was in the hospital for about another 24 hours after the surgery. Hers was an acute case, so that may be why she was in the hospital a couple of days. Anyway, all is good now, and Judy no longer has those mysterious "stomach pains" she was getting after eating certain foods. Anyway, good luck!

Thanks, Ken, and I'm glad your wife did so well. I'm really not concerned about any of this. Gallbladder surgery is very quick and easy, if it even comes to that. You and Jeff enjoy GenCon. I went there once and had a great time.

But I'm... not going to GenCon this year. Thanks for reminding me, you jerk. I am, however, posting again this morning, to give you guys more excuses to contribute.

Ain't life grand. ;D Brian, I had my gall bladder taken out a couple years ago. My God, that was the best decision I've ever made. I was in surgery at 7am and home by 10, back to work in two days. It's a piece of cake and nothing to worry about...and the knowledge that the pain you've been feeling will never return is more than enough to justify the two days of mild discomfort (I was only on 800 mg Motrin and it worked brilliantly). For me, the pain felt like I was being run-through by a knife from front to back (with a little twist in the back). Sleep was nearly impossible and I must have swallowed about a hundred tums in prayer before finally getting it done. All the best to you, sir!

I supposedly have final deadlines coming up this Wednesday, but have yet to receive half the redlines and kind of have to wait for them as they are all part of the same story. Sigh. It's gonna be a busy couple of days.
Also, come Monday, my EVE Online corporation is invading low-security space and hoping to destroy a pirate corporation that lives there, take their mining moons and generally cause trouble. It is a mandatory operation (only my third in the three months that I've been in this corp), so please bear with me...I might be a bit short (not talking about the halfling either) and stressed.
Never rains, but it sure does pour. I tell ya... ;D

Yeah, I hate it when my corporation invades low-security space to route the pirates that live here, too. ;D

Ah, vile gallbladder, thou hast offended me! I will have you removed from my person immediately! Yep, failed the tests. I expect a call from my doctor today or Monday at the latest. Like Joe said, a quick laparoscopic surgery and I'm home that day. And yes, to be free of this pain will be well worth it. Good luck with the invasion! Death to all pirates!

Whoo-hoo, look at me, I'm trendy! Finally, I've hit the big times. ;D
Unfortunately, I won't become trendy until after Labor Day.

Blerg. I was on 16th and 6th installing a sound system in a gym at at Jesuit school. I was installing stuff all day today at a different school. I'll be doing the same tomorrow. In between, I'll be doing lots and lots of office work. Maybe I'll sleep for a few hours, too. Which is to say, I'm gonna go post now, but it might not be too exciting.

Hi, guys. We've got a client beating us senseless right now in an attempt to get all their projects done before Labor Day. I'll probably be fairly quiet between now and then, but please don't slow things up on my account.

Thanks, Jeff!
Scheduling note: I'm leaving early Saturday for a trip to Florida to visit the mother-in-law. (AIEEE!! I'm already taking 5 points of ongoing psychic damage.) So from Saturday through Wednesday, my online time will be spotty, at best. I'll try to check in once a day, probably in the evenings.

Well, I go under the longsword. . .er, I mean scalpel this Thursday the 10th. If there is anything relevant to post that morning, I will. If all goes well, as I expect it will, then I can try and post again sometime later Friday. If, for some reason I need a conventional surgery, I likely will not be able to post until some time later next week. I'll let Jeff know how it goes.

Brian's gall bladder thing had minor complications. Nothing big, I think, but he will stay overnight at the hospital. So maybe we'll see him tomorrow.
(I'll post again myself later today.)
