Then I'll stick with my previous thought....he should aim for the edge of the barrier, placing the ship just over 200' from the western shore. If the barrier can be moved, he can quickly angle back towards the middle and add hopefully another hundred feet to that distance.

Okay. Might want to clarify this in the main thread, and then it's up to Joe to be precise in his next post!

I can't really render to scale the whole river. Way too big to do that with grids and stuff.
Help me pinpoint things, Joe! . You said 10 ft. from the western end of the blockage. Does that mean the red arrow is the centerpoint of the 100-ft.-cube? Based on this map, tell me where exactly the center should go and then it’s easy: The cube goes 50 ft north, south, east, and west.. If I understand what Joe was saying, the red arrow on your map is the end of the trench, so the center point would be 50' east of that (or 40' from the western edge of the barrier).

I don't want to guess, though. I don't want to interpret. I was following his directions at first, but then it started to seem like it was contradictory. The absolute best thing spellcasters can do is tell me where precisely what the centerpoint of the spell is. Because then it's quite easy. If it's got a diameter or radius, it's simple. And even if it's a cube like Control Water, the dimensions can be precise on a grid.

Jeff, I don't see Thul in the initiative line. Did you forget to include him?

Standard Action: Meltehos tries to bean Shorak in the back of the head with the belaying pin. (You see what I did there? I beaned Bean! ) I did. I did see that...
Maybe it's a belaying pin of returning...
It did occur to me that Dispel might not work since it may not be a spell technically, but it seemed worth trying...

quick question... can Adamant actually jump overboard, swim to streko, and grapple? I guess I'm asking if swimming is half speed.

Hey Dave! By the rules, creatures without a swim speed treat swimming like difficult terrain; each foot that you swim costs one additional foot of movement.

Jeff, the Dragonfly has been steadily approaching the chain. Are we still roughly three hundred feet away? Range is going to be rather critical here.

I've been slowly moving it forward; it was slowing up more until Brack walked away from the wheel. But basically, it's on a steady drift. For help estimating, the very tip of the bowsprit is nearly 100 feet from the corner of the trench in the current map.

Be specific, Jeff. Which corner? I don't want to just assume.

Fair question. But of course, I wouldn't pick anything but the closest corner (northeast). Notice I'm not citing the opposite direction than the one I mean, like Darren would.

Brian, just a reminder that Shorak is still entangled. Might be a while before he can man a crossbow.

Dave, I posted out of turn. Streko, Adamant, and the NPCs still have to go before Shorak. He may or may not be free. Personally, I'd wait to see what Jeff posts with the NPCs.

• Calirataia's advantaged attack vs. Kurra: 26; 12 (crit) / 2 bludgeoning damage to Kurra → Kurra's Wisdom saving throw vs. harpy song = 9 (failure) i have in my head, the scene from the movie Airplane where we all line up to slap Kurra...

I know Melethos has been asked a question, and I have his response ready, but I'm following initiative and waiting for Streko and Adamant before I post for Mel.

Agreed! And I think Melethos likes hanging in the back and shouting orders. Reminds me of this lyric:
Forward he cried, from the rear, and the front ranks died.

Their best album, in my opinion. I used to enjoy watching the laser show at the Griffith Park Observatory. The entire album story told in laser light. It was brilliant.

Jeff, Shorak is up next, right? His shot was his readied action from last round?

also remember that Shorak (and Belarin and Thul) are Blessed. The attack has a +1d4

I'm confused. According to RAW it takes Shorak's action to load the crossbow, which means he can't attack until his next turn.
