Yeah, Jeff. Do what you need to do. Life is certainly the main challenge.
It's good timing for me, since I'm going to be pretty crazed for the next month or so at work.

I start my NEW assigment as a juvenile probation officer this Thursday.
Ugh. Juveniles.
Take care of yourself and your family first and fioremost. I doubt any of us are going anywhere. At least, I hope we're not!!

Hey, guys. I just wanted to stop in and say that I have not forgotten about you. I've still got a million things on my plate and now a very sick grandfather who may be on his final days. My hope is that once a few more weeks go by, I'll at least put enough things behind me that I can pick things up here again. I always enjoy the escapism with you gents.

We serve at the pleasure of the DM... They keep telling me things will slow down shortly at work... haven't much yet.... of course I had to fire someone (I find I don't like doing that) so we've been short-handed. But his replacement starts Thursday so that will help. Everything at home is busy but well.

Hey, look....we can go back to using this thread to discuss Chapter 11! Jeff, two questions: - I forget...where is Tangat right now? Did we have to leave him behind somewhere? - Is anyone standing underneath the Phantom-style chandelier right now?

Tangat is with Rinti back at the Cornerstone (inn). With Larest and Starg. No one is directly beneath the chandelier at the moment. Yes, when in doubt, look to the Phantom. In fact, you may want to raise your hands to the level of your eyes...

Jeff, sorry if I missed this detail, but where is the line of questioners? Approaching up the southern stairs, above the teetering chandelier?

At the moment, it's not battle-worthy important to designate each person or group so I haven't taken the time to do so. But I've envisioned the sphinx-speakers to be on the north side of the dais, but with the line (and two Coin Lords) forming on the east side of it, out of casual earshot. So no one's directly beneath the chandeliers except people walking about (like waiters, servants, and musicians), although whoever talks to the sphinx would be close (but still safe) to the spot directly under the north chandelier.

So I suppose I should have Adamant pick spells before we go much further... I get 6 slots plus 2 free. So I'll obviously take the two free... here's the full list then:
1st Level Bless Command Cure Wounds Demand Protection From Evil (free) Sanctuary (free)
2nd Level Aid Righteous Shield

Dave, see if you can now edit the Adamant page. If you can (I gave you editing rights, as I will everyone soon), then you can just indicate which spells you're selecting each day. The ones with a ✓ next to it are the two freebies. So I'd say just put a "1" or something in the others. Or number them, whatever's easier for you.

awesome!
question: did we have to leave weapons at the door? When Shorak reaches under his cloak for his boomerang, is it there?

Good questions. Everyone up top was allowed to keep weapons. Except for obvious ammunition weapons (bows, crossbows, slings). Those were placed on a guard-manned rack just outside the door.

Darren asked about Lamara. Here is where she showed up at the gala: ashlock.proboards.com/post/19712/threadBut this was the turncoat incident: ashlock.proboards.com/thread/132?8465=undefined&page=30 The short version being that she is an inquisitive for House Medani and worked with the PCs for a little while...but she turned out to be spy for the once-thought-gone wizard named Malov it'Turien who once caused a lot of trouble for Aundair back during the war, was presumed dead, and now seems to have come back with new fiendish friends. Only Belarin, Condign, Kal, and Streko need worry about remembering her. Adamant, Shorak, and Syrdan have never met her no really heard that part of their companions' tale. So they can take it as it comes. Currently Lamara is your only real connection to those earlier adventures of DE. But she's also the only obvious link to the name of this campaign.

That led to probably my favorite fight of the entire campaign. That was WILD.
Also, Belarin will likely freak out once he learns that she's here. He has his reasons.

I can't wait. Also, the reason that battle was fun: gelatinous cube. It's like the difference between a party with regular punch, and a party where someone spiked the punch. And I still say that as a non-drinker.

Also, Joe: Are you sure Streko doesn't still have his haversack? I actually kinda thought he brought it in with him, and I looked and don't see mention of it being taken from him. Fairly sure Belarin's pact dagger is in there, too....

Oh, so you didn't secretly tell Joe that Streko's backpack was missing? When that popped up, I just assumed some private messages had been exchanged. (And yes, Belarin's pact dagger is inside it.)

Just re-read the whole thing. Good times...
Also, man....it makes Kal (me) happy to see Lamarra looking ill, after re-reading the Chromatic Orb attack that he made on her.

Yup, the group's back together, but you're also in the company of Greigur, Birne, and Bereschel. So if you want to say something more private, you'll either have to go elsewhere (might want an excuse for that, as you're traveling in the company as Greigur's guests at the palace) or at least go up and speak quietly to one another while walking.

Actually, Joe, it was Condign who mentioned the "inquisitive," not Nerrin/Belarin. I'm not sure that it's a good idea took open this can of worms in front of Griegur, though... but there it is!

Ken, I can see your point about discussing Lamara in front of Geigur, but this also gives Kal a way to elevate (in his own inflated terms, of course) his station in front of his superior. He can boast about his encounter with her, in front of his "servants" and the others. It may fail miserably--most of my tricky stuff does--but it was worth the risk. At least, Condign thought is was. I deny any association with that devilish character. Of course, I'm posting this after Darren has posted Kal's turn, and before I've read his post.
