Well, cat's out of the bag, now, anyway, right? And really, once Kal knew that Lamara was there, he was going to have a hard time hiding his feelings about it. Remember that until Condign said something, Kal didn't know she was there, either.

I hesitate to post this; I'm relatively new here and to Eberon and all... but I'm confused. Why are we being all cagey and deceptive with Grieger? I'm just not sure what the goal is here. We're not going to sell him the fake map right? I thought the fake map was to distract some other group. So at what point are we going to give him some approximation of the reassurances he wants and stop pissing him off? Imagine if the shoe were on the other foot and an NPC was asking for our trust but they were working this hard to avoid our questions... Or maybe we don't need him for anything in which case we should try to close this out politely and leave? I'm not complaining, I like nice banter and all... And there may be a whole layer to things I'm missing... But I just don't see where this is going. Adamant's going to keep trying to stay in character but he's at least as confused as I am...

To be honest, that's one of the reasons I've remained quiet of late. I don't really see where the current conversation is supposed to be going. And at this point I didn't want to say anything to that effect in character, or inadvertently disrupt what others were trying to do. I was pretty much watching everything play out, and trying to figure things out from there.

I got the feeling that there was some kind of power play going on between Geiger and Kal. That's why Shorak hasn't had anything to say. He's just standing in a corner watching the proceedings quietly.

I was just about to post and give him some real information, but the fact of the matter is, when Greigur was first introduced to us, it was made clear that he doesn't have the best reputation and that he might be a bit power-hungry. I (and Kal) wasn't really sure we could trust him.
Also, we're kind of playing many sides right now. We told Larest we would help him find the Eye, and now we've told Greigur we'd help him find it. Originally, the assumption was that Larest would want it for himself, and we made it clear to him that we probably wouldn't do that. We went to Deneith to try to get extra resources, but it seemed like Greigur wanted us to find the Eye for Deneith, which we also didn't necessarily want to happen. Now that Kal believes that Greigur would be just as happy if no one found it (which is what Kal wants), he's willing to start giving him some information.

Meanwhile, Belarin is just waiting for this conversation to end so that he can get mugged tonight.

Just to be clear, Belarin, Adamant, and Shorak are separating and will blaze ahead toward the Kundarak enclave.
Does Kal's group—Condign and Streko—intend to follow from a distance or stay separate?
And Syrdan and Lerrhana? Where will they go? I need all this before I can do anything more.

Syrdan and Lerrhana are trailing several paces behind Kal/Condign/Streko, following deferentially as Kal's 'retainers'. Wherever those three are headed, Syrdan and Lerrhana are going as well.

I guess Kal will decide where Condign and Streko go. Personally, I'd prefer to follow Belarin and the others. That's why I had Condign say what he did: it gives Kal the opportunity to verbally contradict him and go after "Nerrin." Darren...?

Just so you know. Shorak is not making any effort to catch up to Belarin and Adamant. As per Belarin's plan, Shorak will stick to shadows as he follows them, ready to leap to assist after the map has been taken or if either of them become hard pressed by an assailant.

FYI. I'm pretty much ready for this next encounter. Just waiting for Team Kal to react to anything else if they're going to re: the orcs following them.

With Syrdan following us, I don't think Condign knows about the orcs. Syrdan's too far back to tell him. Am I right when I'm thinking the groups is spread out like that?

Well done, sir. Okay, so: The "DE Stats" link in each of our signatures brings you to the Google spreadsheet that's got all your character stuff. Each tab is a different character. The first tab tallies hit points and XP. So you can look there to see how everyone's doing.

So couple of questions...
in 5e we get a move action and a standard action. Is drawing a weapon an action? Is swinging my shield from my back to my arm an action?
btw, Adamant's shield is on his back at present so his AC is 19. Not an issue so far.

So let's experiment with this new combat order thing. Dave B., you post Shorak's actions (based on what he's seeing), then I'll post for the ogres and the cloaked guy. Then Belarin's actions will happen. Then Dave W., Adamant goes last. This way each of us can post actions based directly on what's actually happened in the round thus far. We'll try it. FWIW, I still find it kind of funny that "actually following the posted initiative order" is a "new combat order thing".

Sure. But for years of this play-by-post game, it's quite new! I'm hoping it works, because in the past, some players would disappear for days on end, and if that happens combat will grind to a halt. So we'll see!

Jeff, could you add Kal, Condign, and Streko to the map, please. Knowing from which direction we are approaching will help me decide what Condign will to do. Thanks.

Map doesn't go that far yet and you're not that close to the action at present. You guys would be arriving in the far left/west IF you intend to approach at all.

Does Shorak currently have Advantage on the ogre facing off with Adamant? Also, does advantage just allow for the sneak attack damage or do I also get the best of two rolls deal?

Jeff, I was reviewing Condign's stats in preparation of a possible encounter and remembered the Know Your Enemy class ability. Can I modify my post so that Big Red is watching the cloaked man and use that ability to learn something about him?

Dave: Alas, despite his poor Wisdom, the ogre's Perception check was crazy high (for an ogre): Perception check (1d20-2=17) So while his attention is hardly on Shorak, the ogre can see well in the dark and would not be surprised by Shorak attacking from concealment. So no advantage, which means no sneak attack this time. Yeah, normally if you have advantage, you get to roll both rolls and add the sneak attack damage. Brian: Great question. However, Condign has to observe someone for a full minute (10 rounds of combat!, which is why it's best done before a combat happens) to be able to assess an enemy in this way. Moreover, Kal (and therefore Condign) has not even started to approach. All you guys can make out is the towering shapes of the ogres, so Condign can't even see the cloaked dude anyway.

I'll wait for the new initiative order before deciding what Condign will do. Trying to stick to this take turns format. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using proboards
