It's a racial feature. They added it for 4E.

Just to make it clear - given Syrdan's somewhat rocky relationship with Captain Morsha, when Belarin goes to talk to her, Syrdan will be absolutely nowhere near that conversation.

All this getting off on the wrong foot stuff aside, I just wanted to say: good job on the reasoning posts, guys. The our-proof-is-that-you'll-be-sorry-if-you-don't-listen-to-us angle isn't quite the sweet spot for Captain Morsha, but that said, you're arguments have been good and your rolls, too. Good roleplaying, in short.

Sorry, Dave W., I'd forgotten to address this:
Correct. But Adamant knows that some divine powers (unfortunately, not Hallowed Circle) can harm many undead creatures if they use radiant damage.
Simple bright light may not be something vampires wouldn't like, but he has no reason to think it would hurt them. It's artificial magical light, for all intents and purposes, not a substitute for actual sunlight.

Kal definitely wants to respond to Streko, but I'm checking on my phone during intermission, so it won't be until late tonight.

So do I really need to tell everyone that Joe is role-playing a grieving and still somewhat annoyed Halfling? I sure hope no one thinks Joe is really angry or upset about anything. I'd hate for that to be the case.
Okay...sorry....there are some things that I am obviously not keeping up on. I suppose I might be a bit over my head right now...and I apologize for that.
If I cannot keep up, I will let Jeff know so it doesn't become a burden on the game. In the meantime, I'm trying to play Streko as someone who has spent most of his life searching for someone and who has had that person yanked away from him again and perhaps I am playing it too well. Obviously, Streko needs to get past this...or perhaps Joe does. I'm honestly not entirely sure what else to do with him and will consider it more over the next few days, amidst the fighting and blood-letting, of course. Joe, I certainly don't confuse Streko's outbursts with the action or thoughts of Joe the Player. You're an excellent role-player! It's simply that after reading " And by the way, Streko has no clue as to who Major Krez is or ever was. I can't recall him ever being a part of that conversation, but even if he was, he wouldn't be happy with this," I just wanted to be sure -- in character and out -- that Streko wasn't lashing out because of confusion over past events (three days for the PCs, three months for us). So that's why I put my reminder after last night's post -- it was intended only as point of fact, not as any judgment on your role-playing. Streko, however, shouldn't go blaming poor Syrdan over this plan! This was all spun out of the conversation that Histra and Belarin had in front of Streko last week.

Which, I might add, Streko said he would support, but had his misgivings even then. Alas, he was ridiculed and ignored and has every REASON to be paranoid, don't you think?

Alas, he was ridiculed and ignored... Joe, I'm sorry but when did that happen? Streko issued a "word of caution" about not antagonizing Morsha or the crew. And the rest of the party got her conditional buy-in on the plan.

Okay, quickly," he says, pointing down the hallway to Syrdan's left. Um, Darren ... "to Syrdan's left" puts him right in Shorak's lap. Or out to sea. I'm assuming you mean the hallway to the east of us? Or to the north?

Yeah, I'd avoid saying "left" or "right," since that implies we know which way people are facing at any given moment. You could say, out of character, north/south/east/west since that's actually helpful when looking at the map. In-character, you may not know which way is north all the time.

Jeff - to confirm, to me it looks like the passage going to the east of Syrdan doesn't look like it goes all that far - maybe 15 feet, assuming a 5' square scale? - before ending.
If I'm mistaken on that, let me know.

Correct. The corridor ends with a wall, but there are two doors to the south. I've added a grid.
Note that the walls are wooden.

New thought: If Histra can locate where the vampires are without us opening up every door, then (with any luck) it will be at one side of the ship (she already suggested they'd be towards the bow). Kal can then create a distraction on the opposite side of the ship (in the form of a small fire). That should keep everyone away from where we are, allow us time to deal with the vampire and then move overboard.
It's a lot noisier than my original plan, though. Thoughts?

I think we should hold off on the distraction tactic until we're ready to jump ship. Especially if we have to go up on deck to get overboard.

I agree with Dave on that. While it's a good idea, if we set the fire without knowing what exits are available on the other end of the ship, we may end up closing off our only escape route.
