I didn't read mention of Condign's sword, nor Kal's for that matter. Can I assume that everything is there?

Yup. I'd forgotten that Condign's sword came back out of the haversack before curtains fell on the last chapter. It, and Kal's sharash, have been mentioned now.

Mike, do you just basically mean one of the crates sitting around by the railing? Just making sure you're not confusing the crates from the trunks that had the party's stuff.

Okay, not much discussion in the main thread, then. Let me know what you'd like to, in-game, do next. Hang out in a cabin, roam the deck. How would you pass the time?
No, we won't roleplay every hour of every day of the journey. Things may/will happen at various points along the way. But it would be helpful for me to know what you're doing.
Even just talking to each other.

Streko will probably avoid everyone unless he is spoken to or engaged, after which he will no doubt thaw a bit and start talking back and, perhaps, if it is a member of the ship's crew, even assist to help the time go by. He will also pray a lot, eat a little and exercise to the best of his ability. He does so enjoy the sun.

I thought the plan was for Belarin and Condign to talk to the captain? I was kind of waiting for them to do that....
Then I'd guess that we're going to seek out Larest. If I were letting Kal be Kal, he'd probably go find the professor by himself right now, but for gameplay sake, I'm not going to do that. ;D
Also, Kal has been called down quite a bit lately by his companions, which would make anyone draw a bit inward.

I thought the plan was for Belarin and Condign to talk to the captain? I was kind of waiting for them to do that.... Not quite. Belarin volunteered to be the spokesperson in matters with Morsha (which he just did), not to necessarily try to persuade her of the group's awesomeness on the first morning after our unfortunate arrival on her ship. Belarin will work on Morsha and the crew, and he'll rely on Condign's help, but he's not going to push his luck this morning when she clearly isn't in the mood. And as he said below decks, it's best if everyone takes steps to learn as much as possible about the ship and its crew over the next few days. It could come in handy.

Okay, my comment above notwithstanding, Belarin is going to talk to the captain a little more. What can I say? Belarin confuses even me sometimes! But he's not going to broach the subject of Larest's Bloody Death anytime soon; that's an open wound with her. Once that conversation is resolved, Belarin will touch base with his friends, especially Kal, and try to learn more about Shorak's interesting hobbies.

Hey, Jeff...in your latest post, shouldn't it be Shorak and not Syrdan? He was the one who went to interact with the gnome.
I just want to be clear, because Kal was about to go interact with Syrdan privately, but if he's talking with the gnome and minotaur, Kal will wait.

Took the wind out of, debunked, burst the balloon? Kal has done the "Let me flaunt my dragonmark" maneuver enough times for his companions to know why he does it and to want to knock him down a couple of pegs when it happens. He doesn't have to like the teasing or even understand it, however. That pride and stubborness is part of the awesomeness of Kal.

Darren, please, I certainly am not trying to minimize Kararian's importance to the group; I would never do that. However, from a role-playing perspective, Condign is going to react some to some of Kal's self-important displays. It's almost as if he believes he is the only one with a noble background. That is a rash assumption, and Condign simply is not going to let it slide all the time.

Guys, I'm not taking anything personally! I think it's funny when your characters make fun of Kal. I'm just playing Kal the way Kal is. And in that instance, when confronted with words like that from the group, he's going to withdraw.

Darren, since the door only has the odd "death odor", and is not marked with a skull-and-crossbones, or any other obvious warning meaning ZOMG KEEP OUT YOU BLITHERING IDIOTS, Syrdan is going to open the door - assuming it's not locked! - unless Kal really gives him a reason not to beyond 'I've got a bad feeling about this'. Let me know what you think, though. I can be convinced otherwise.

My only concern is that there is either something poisonous back there, or there are undead that we might unleash into the ship. And we have nowhere to go and might end up getting thrown overboard if we piss off the captain. That said, I'm all for a little fun.

Just remember - and this is still assuming that the door opens to begin with! - "it was like that when we got there". Jeff, going ahead with trying to open the door, assuming that can be done without the need to physically force it open. Or summon a certain drow, presumably.

Jeff: No, he doesn't say why he left, only that he is in the Five Nations on an mission of some import. He doesn't give out any of his background from the Demon Wastes. It was basically: "I came here for a reason, got arrested and put on an airship, then I found these guys." The details are from that point on.

For Dave B's benefit (and maybe Dave W's, too), the long version of what Belarin and Condign described can be found mostly here and here, give or take a page. I'll add this to the DE Wiki as well, as soon as I figure out what my password is.

So...once the current conversation winds down, unless anyone has any other decisive actions they'd like to take place, I'm going to shoot forward to the next day. Something else might just be coming up then to spice things up.
In your next post, let me know if there's anything you would like to do or talk about. I can hold off a bit longer, if needs be.

I'm assuming we've all compared notes by now. And Mike had posted that Syrdan inteneded to tell Belarin what he had found. Absolutely. Syrdan would've told Belarin about what he'd found as soon as he'd met up with him again.
