That said, Varna notices just as much as I do how easily "master" and "lord" roll of your PCs' tongues (or hinged metal jaw, as it were), and she will take you to task for it. I sometimes wonder if that's a leftover relic from Torhak (my first character). I had him calling everyone "Lord This" and "Master That" and being unfailingly polite to people when I played him - IIRC, I never had him use contractions, either (i.e., he said 'cannot' instead of 'can't'). I liked the idea of a dwarf barbarian being very formal and proper - except when raging, of course! Not a wholly original idea (I took a lot of Torhak's personality and quirks from the character of Leela, from Doctor Who), but it was fun.

No, Jeff. I must have missed that. My mistake. Maybe Kal will hire trumpeters instead.

Hey guys. Here's a diagram I threw together to help you keep the dragonmarked houses straight. I never really know, but I suspect some of them you don't remember by name. The 13 Dragonmarked HousesBookmark it? I've also added a link from the wiki.

Darren: Yup, one of the four guards, a human, broke away from the entrance to escort Kal in.

I apologize for not chiming in earlier on the DE Wiki, Jeff. It's a great resource! My additions to the Combat section: Forced Movement:Once per day, Belarin can inflict Curse of the Dark Dream on a single target. If the attack succeeds, Belarin can shift the target 3 squares. On a hit or a miss, Belarin can shift the target 1 square in successive rounds with a minor action (save ends). Miscellaneous:None of the group has actually seen this in action yet -- the only time that Belarin has had opportunity to use it was in his private thread with he went toe to toe with the Apparition a couple of months back -- but once per day, he can use Crackling Fire. It's a burst attack that, aside from dealing damage, gives the targets vulnerability 5 fire and vulnerability 5 lightning (save ends). It's certainly a power that he would've described to Kal.

Huh. We're going to have to find an in-game way to discuss that. This is going to be our version of Colossus throwing Wolverine. ;D

Damn straight!
OK, let's go with the status quo and say that Belarin hasn't discussed it with Kal. After all, he's only had the one opportunity to use that power since we last leveled up, and no one else saw it. The key will be making sure that Kal's initiative occurs between Belarin's and the bad guys', since we don't want them having a chance to save before Kal does the high-voltage thing.

Or the fire thing. Kal can do that, too. Spend an action point, and we could have some fun with this.

Whenever it's feasible (and it usually is), when combat is about to begin, I'll try and post initiative orders even before round 1 starts so you know in advance where you fall compared to each other.

Mike, in some previous post I totally misspoke: elves in 4E do in fact sleep like everyone else. It's only eladrin who do the trance thing, as I've just discovered. Not sure how I mixed that up. Just wanted to clear that up. So Syrdan does sleep. But being an elf, I'm sure he doesn't snore.

Darren: You tell me. If you're trying to do one of those, I need to know that.
Bluff = lying/misleading/exaggerating Intimidation = bullying

...was that a question?
The point of my question about whether a roll was in order was sort of this: Kal believes that he has the influence to do what he says. As a player, I'm not sure if that's true, so you might consider it a bluff if it's not true, but Kal doesn't think he's bluffing. Some people might also consider this particular tactic to be bullying, but again, Kal thinks he's just telling it like it is.
So I guess the question is...are the checks related more to the intention of the person speaking, or the reaction of the person listening?
In either case, *I* don't think a check is needed here.

Hey, YOU brought up the skills, not me! If you think it's truthful, then it's not Bluff. And it would only be Intimidate if you're really trying to bully someone into doing something. Which isn't very clear, so we'll go without a skill check for this instance.

Hey, Joe,
Any response to Belarin's in-game question several days ago? Belarin certainly isn't expecting that Streko will want to join him in acquiring illegal documentation, but he also doesn't want to assume that his friend isn't interested.
Otherwise, we'll just go with Belarin being the only potential buyer.

This week is already MUCH better, though no less busy. :-)

Hey, Jeff, I don't know if you saw, but I edited my post to include the Grapple check. I wasn't sure if you were waiting for me or if you just hadn't gotten back to Kal yet...

I'll echo Belarin's sentiment. It's been fun seeing these mini-adventures, if a bit exhausting keeping them all going. Good roleplaying across the the board, that's for damned sure.
