Today begins a whirlwind of festivities that will keep me fairly busy and mostly away from computers. I'll be checking and posting from my phone, but until Monday posts will probably be shorter and I may have trouble with rolls, if needed.

I'll be away for the rest of today (Saturday), on a daytrip to Philly for the Frankling Institute museum of science (one of my kid's most recent meccas, though we've never been there). Dave W., have you?

I have been to the Franklin Institute but it’s been probably 20 years… the kids were little. Sam was afraid of the giant heart but he was a toddler. I really like museums so I hope you guys have a great day!

We’ll that Franklin Institute day was fun.
But tonight’s storm was a nightmare. We haven’t had this sort of flooding since my Goodman Games days (literally, I was called home from playtesting Castle Whiterock, Ken!), and cleanup and damage control is going to take days. A big mess. But I’ll still pop on DE because for me it’s escapism. Just bear with me.
Hope you guys who were in the storm’s path or wake are all right? Did it touch Grapevine? Darren, Jersey? Dave and Dave? How did you guys do??

Sorry you had a go of it... We were fine. Heavy rain and some flooding but none of it in the house. Praise the Lord for sump pumps! They sent us home from work at noon with the understanding that we should work from home when we got there... also Praise the Lord for modern telephony... hope everyone is fine.

We're good. Astoria got really wet, but we live on the second floor and the waters didn't rise quite that high. Although, our street certainly was a rushing river for a couple of hours last night.

All is good here! Sorry - was crazy busy at work today.
Judy and I are 99% certain (based on comments from our former neighbors) that our former house in Dumont got flooded, along with much of Bergen County. The brook next to our house, which never overflowed in the 15 years we lived there, overflowed last night. Judy said, "Well, our house had two sump pumps. The new owners should be fine!" I replied, "But the sump pumps transfer the water to the brook." Judy: "...OHHHHH. We got out of there just in time."
Jeff, I'm so sorry you got hit by that. It's a sucky situation.

We got hit, but it's manageable. No loss of life, no loss of books. We're okay. Still a bummer, having to throw out some stuff and probably this means we'll stress out every time it rains a lot, but still, this was a huge evet that broke records for NY. I'd like to believe this remains rare.
Glad you're all right, Ken and Dave and everyone else!

Judy said, "Well, our house had two sump pumps. The new owners should be fine!" I replied, "But the sump pumps transfer the water to the brook." Judy: "...OHHHHH. We got out of there just in time." My boss has the same problem, his house is on the banks of the Susquehanna River, his sump pump pumps water out of the basement into the river which is overflowing back into the basement. I suggested a longer hose on the sump pump because people in California right now could use the water...

The death toll is about 40 people now for Ida. This is why I'm coming out of this feeling fortunate and not self-pitying.

Sorry for the confusion about who was more likely to get hit. I forget to think in game mechanics, so AC wasn't on my mind....just that Shorak was more agile and could duck out of the way.
Anyway, I'm headed out for another photo trip today, so I probably won't post again until late tonight or tomorrow morning.

Today I'm heading to Cincinnati for my first horror movie convention in two years. The venue is requiring masks (not Halloween masks!) even though Ohio doesn't require them. I'll post this morning after Jeff, then I likely won't be able to post until this evening. I will check my phone to see what's happening and if Mel is really needed, I'll take a quick break and post.

Hey y'all. I'm out "camping" this weekend. I have signal, but I'm gonna spend most of the weekend drinking. So....I may post. We'll see how it goes.

That's totally nuts, Ken. I'm sure it's a whole big thing for you guys that you're tired of dealing with. But I'm curious, so I'm going to ask anyway. Give me the short, short version? Are they compensating you somehow for this insane delay?

Bear with me, guys. Got sick from whatever my son brought home from school (masks can only do so much), and it knocked me out this weekend.

Middle of the day on Thursday, we'll be driving out of town for our at-one-time-annual Salem, Mass trip. Coming back Sunday night. I suspect I won't be doing much posting during that time, but I wouldn't rule out a little checking in.

Then next Thursday, I fly to Denver for a long weekend. Part of it is my visit to the StokerCon hotel so I can get a feel for the room space and such. On that Saturday, Sue and I take an 8-hour tour of the Rocky Mountain National Park. I guess at one point we will be 12,000 feet above sea level!
Posting shouldn't be a problem, except for the Saturday.
Have fun in Salem, Jeff!
