Maybe they have given up their pirating ways?
Maybe the frog-things are coming to sell us cookies to fund their high-seas adventures?
Let's hear them out...

When I get back tonight, I guess I’ll continue. Shorak will by default take the Dodge action.

Jeff, if Kal uses Lightning Shift, can he get out of the grapple without having to make a check?

If it was actual teleportation, yes. But it's not, it's just a fast move. And grapple sets your speed to 0, disallowing any movement. He can move superfast because of the spell, but he's still grappled. So yeah, no-go.

Kinda nice to face an enemy sometimes who doesn't have hit point absorbing defenses, right? Posting out of turn so Dave Bean will be able to respond later tonight instead of tomorrow night... In any case, just to clarify. Shorak on his turn has already used sneak attack, and if he takes Melethos's offer to use his reaction to make another attack, he can do so and use sneak attack one more time. I've done a bit of research on this and the commonly accepted idea is that sneak attack can be used only once on a rogue's turn, but can also be used once between turns (i.e. reaction). And no more than that. Also, I find it funny that Melethos is using Commander's Strike while invisible. It's totally within rules, totally fine (because the recipient has to either hear or see you). But it's just funny. "Hit that monster!" "Wh...who said that? Melethos? Are you invisible?" "Whatever, just hit the monster! Never mind I'm hiding from it."

I kind of laughed when I wrote that post. An invisible Melethos calling on someone to do something. But like you said, it's within the rules.

I could always make a perception roll to see if Shorak can smell Melethos.

Right, sorry for missing the Sentinel thing.
In any case, a "12" is a miss. But for future reference, yes, you can Divine Smite even on an opp attack. No limit to the frequency of that one, only limited by spell slots. Thanks Jeff, I'll keep that in mind... it's hard to argue with a "4" though...

Kal will move 1 square east and 2 south. This should put him just north of Belarin, and turned towards creature #1 should keep creature #3 out of line of sight, eliminating the disadvantage of being frightened. Being 1 square north of Belarin won't put beast #3 out of Kal's line of sight. Heck, Belarin just hit it with a ranged attack precisely because it's within line of sight. In D&D combat, you're assumed to be looking this way and then, effectively in every direction at all times so you can properly dodge incoming attacks, etc. Only if Kal gets full cover from something between himself and beast #3 would he not have line of sight with it.

No problem. I just rolled the second roll for the disadvantage. It's a 22. I'll edit and add it to the post.

Just out of curiosity, Adamant generates the Aura of Courage so that people within 10' "can't be frightened". So if he were to move next to someone who's afraid would the frightened condition be removed? And then if he moved away again would it still be gone or would it come back? I guess the question is does it end the condition or suppress it?
Not sure it will apply but sometimes I think on things...

Unless I found an official ruling, I'd say his presence suppresses the frightened condition but not the origin. So if something made someone frightened for more than a round, and Adamant walked over to them and then away again, the frightened condition would fade and then return. But the current situation is moot on that point, as the frightened condition only lasts for 1 round anyway unless the shriek occurs again (which it can).

Jeff, once the leaper drops, can Thul move?
If yes, he moves 30' towards the port side steps.

At one point, Belarin gathers his companions together on deck. "Before we get into a situation where I have to make all of us seem like tieflings, I'd like to suggest something so that we can actually recognize each other. I mean, if we get into a fight in our tiefling guises... well, it could get confusing! "When I do cast the spell of Seeming, I'll add changes of clothing, horn shape, and the like, but I would like each of you to announce one item - a weapon, a flower, an article of clothing, maybe even an unusual color - as your 'symbol,' for lack of a better term. I'll be sure to incorporate that into the illusion. For me, I'll have a dark green cloak, much like I have now. For Thul, for instance, it could be his pipe, or his sneer... something obvious." ______________ Seems like a sensible precaution. I don't want to hold up the game while folks respond to Belarin's question. You can just add it as an OOC comment in your next post, or you can put it in the Out-of-Character thread.Since everyone knows that Melethos looks like, he shouldn't require an identifier.

Right. His ofermōd should be readily apparent just as he is.

There's no ofermōd involved. He's just overconfident.
