Belarin says calmly, "Eight. If the information you give me proves useful, I'll be back. It'd be good to have reliable contacts while I'm in Stormreach. Also, I dislike the number 10." Ken, I'm not actually sure what question Belarin's answering...

Belarin put down eight coins, and the half-orc wanted two more. But I'll revise the post.

Do me a favor and add a Charisma (Persuasion) check to your post. This is approaching a classic haggling scenario.

Done, but not an ideal one.
Afterward, I'd like to do a Wisdom (Insight) check to see whether Belarin thinks Vouth is being truthful. Is that something you would roll?

I try to reserve the secret rolls for bigger stuff, so you can roll that.

Okay, and ... oh SURE, on the skill check where I have no modifier, I roll superbly! Go figure.

Kal sighs at Condign's outburst. He's not sure the tiefling is right, but he would support and follow his friend to the very gates of Dollurh. He chuckles at the thought, realizing that his friends have already done that very thing for him. Throwing back his cloak, Kal begins to move his hands and utter arcane words. Suddenly, the air is filled with sparks. Throughout the room small, harmless explosions burst in the air over patrons' heads. Candles and fires extinguish themselves and suddenly flare to life again. Loud bells and gongs peal from different walls. There is no ignoring the display. "We're all going to end up in jail, Condign," he says over the noise. "We had best disappear into the crowd as soon as they start moving." ________________ Kal is using many and repeated uses of Prestidigitation.Prestidigitation has a range of 10 ft, so he can produce these little sparks and noises within that radius around himself, but that's all.

So...talk to me about marching order. Shorak is in the lead. You can walk side by side with another person on these docks and still have room to fight, if needed. The docks are mostly about 12 feet wide. Condign will walk side-by-side with Shorak. He has darkvision and may be able to see what they are walking into.

Adamant placed himself as the rearguard unless there's an objection. He also asked Aven to take care of Streko earlier, it would seem reasonable that they're side-by-side.

Sorry for not posting as often as I usually do. Brutal time at work. Belarin will be in the middle of the pack. He casts Soulsorrow's Armor. Ken, did you cross off the spell slot? I see one is used, and I don't know if that's from a previous one.

"Lamara," says Belarin ruefully, little caring that Aven has no idea who the warlock is referring to. Actually Adamant doesn't really know who Lamara is either beyond the phrase "traitorous bitch" which seems to be attached to her. I don't think Adamant's ever actually seen her.

They're on the map, linked in my first post about them. Here it is again. In my next map update I'll increase the contrast on the grid lines so you can gauge distances easier.

Jeff, on your next map, can you also say where the potential ways out might be? Are we effectively cut off from reaching land except going through the wererats?

Nothing more I can add to the map about exits. North and south where the main ways at this spot, and north has now been cut off. There could be more ways to the south but you can't see far enough yet.

Belarin will stay where he is right now. The wererats are too spread out for Misty Escape to be very useful at the moment.

Dave, when you say Adamant "readies," and with only a shield in hand, please be more specific. Do you mean he "readies an attack" as in the ready action? And if so, is the trigger "when an enemy comes within reach"? It is possible that post lacked a certain amount of precision... I rushed getting the post out. Apologies. I meant ready to use his Sentinel abilities if they come into play. Since those are all based on using his reaction, he wouldn't get those if he Readied an action since Ready also relies on using your Reaction and you only get the one. (hmmm, are there any feats that give you an additional Reaction?) I didn't know that. I was figuring 1d3 which I think is the standard for those poor unfortunate squishy races...

Readying allows a person to set a condition whereby they can use their reaction to do a sort of delayed action. Normal people otherwise only get to use their reaction if someone provokes an opportunity attack.
But the Sentinel feat (and others) lets you do other things with your reaction. So yes, if you ready an action, then you're giving up the uses of the Sentinel feat or even of opportunity attacks. But not readying an action means you can use Sentinel as normal. You can always use your regular action to Dodge. And Sentinel will still let you use your reaction in its usual way.
Make sense?
