Also, am I remembering right: the group's intent is to go on these errands, then return to the Cornerstone Inn, or are you going from there to...the lighthouse? I'm just asking because crossing the city can take a while, especially in the heavy weather. So hours will be going by. I don't know if there's a sense of urgency for your actions or not. Good question. I'd forgotten about the lighthouse. FWIW, I'd go get the healing potions, then head to the Kundarak bank branch. Considering what we should do next, I think that could be an in-game discussion. Perhaps Jeff would even prefer it that way. Am I right, Jeff?

Well, the group has voted on Brian-Condign as the designated directional leader, so I'd say it's your call. But if it helps, one thing I do remember: Kal was not intending to take Rinti along to the lighthouse, where you fully expect to face battle. I think the intent was to return to the inn before heading to the Lighthouse. This was part of the sendoff: "When you return," Larest says, "we may not be back yet. I don't regard our errand as particularly perilous—we're looking for a stone only in a pile of rocks, if Sem is correct—but there are many agencies out there right now in rivalry. We must all be careful. Good luck." Histra was accompanying Larest, Sem, and Starg on that scavenger hunt. But it's worth repeating that going to and fro in the city is quite time consuming. Maybe this doesn't matter, but I want to make sure you guys understand it.

The intention, as I recall, was to head back to the inn before taking on any other tasks. We never explicitly said that we had to get to the lighthouse TODAY. We talked about scouting out the docks, too, but didn't say specifically when. I don't think Kal would want to take Rinti there, but she could always be sent back while we carry on.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the Jorasco Enclave is sort of on our way back to the inn. I was under the impression that we were running the errands, going back to the inn to drop off Rinti and pick up Histra if she's back and wants to join us to scope out the docks. We never discussed when we were going to the lighthouse. We do know we need a boat to get to the lighthouse anyway.

Right, Dave.
So, Belarin and Kal to the Deneith enclave, everyone else to the Jorasco enclave, right? With the likely (as voiced by Kal) possibility that no one will be seeing Rinti again. Yes?

Dave, sorry I didn't address this yet. Dire's Folly is attuned to Adamant, and only one who is attuned to it can reshape the weapon into another. So it will remain an axe until Adamant changes it...or if someone else attunes to it instead. I thought so. Thanks for clearing that up Jeff!

Just a note and possible misunderstanding: "I need to leave you for a moment. We are not far from the Deneith enclave, and it is time for Rinti to leave us. Go ahead to Jorasco and the bank. I will catch up with you." "We will meet up at the Jorasco enclave," Condign says to Kal and Belarin. "Do not tarry. I dislike being separated." Strictly speaking, Kal's errand will be taking longer, unless he chooses not to meet with Greigur and only chooses to drop off Rinti. So the Jorasco enclave crew will be hanging out for a while, in- and out-of-game. Just FYI.

Hey Jeff, at some point Adamant will want to spar with Aven to get a sense of how good he is, obviously we can't just do that in the middle of the market or the bank... so in the meantime, can Adamant tell anything about Aven's power level based on how he moves and how he was holding the axe before?

Ahh, good question. I was already thinking that Adamant has been very optimistic about Aven's skills. Your everyday front-line fighter in the Last War would not last very long against a vampire.
Adamant really can't tell simply by watching Aven thus far. Sparring is definitely a good way to do it, but yes....when?
Interestingly, Condign can do exactly what you're looking for. He has a fighter class ability called Know Your Enemy. Despite its name, it can be used on anyone he observes outside of combat. And you've got the time to do it over and over so he can try to learn as much as possible.

I was going to bring up Know Your Enemy. Condign would be glad to do this for Adamant, but that silly old warforged would have to ask nicely, preferably with flowers and candy.

Belarin had been preoccupied with his own travails in Dolurrh, so he hadn't really noticed the change in Kal's dragonmark. Until now. He holds back his own gasp of surprise, though, and tries to get a sense of how others in the room are reacting to Marin's exclamation. __________________________ Should I make a Wisdom (Insight) roll, Jeff? It's not much to go on—just some expressions. Best you can hope for with a good roll is to determine whether the reactions are genuine or not. Go ahead, if you like, and make the roll.

"I assume you know of Krez' airship? We have been aboard it. Belarin here might even be able to render a map to you from his memory. What else can we share, Belarin?" Errrr... HAVE we? We've been on the sailing vessel that Krez used to make most of the journey to Stormreach, but the airship? No, I don't think so.

I agree. I thought it was a sea-faring ship, not an airship.

Krez attacked us by airship after we attacked his sea ship. Almost killed Captain Morsha.

He descended from an airship but you never actually learned much about it. Maybe glimpsed it from below. A halfling riding a wyvern was slain, and Histra used necromancy to speak to the corpse. From it, you learned the airship was called the Northern Wraith. Then, later, Larest theorized about the relationship between the Wraith and the Patriot.

Yah, okay. I guess I was thinking of the Patriot. Too many ships, too many years, not enough brain cells.

Striding down the hallway, Kalarian walks past Belarin. "Let's go, Belarin. There's still a lot to do..." "Damn," says Belarin. "A few minutes longer, and I would have finished composing my epic sonnet, 'The Humiliation of ir'Zathryn.' I was up to Stanza 37, 'The Weasels Find Larest.' Alas...." He joins Kal in looking for Bereschel. Kal & Belarin moments are always some of my favorites for exactly reasons like this. Well done, Ken.
