As you have debated, as quickly as possible, what course of action to take, Hras'Ka's group have already rushed to attack. They are the first to act (effectively bringing you in at round 2 of this fight).
Round 2
22 = Adamant 16 = Kal 15 = Sarquaa and his posse 15 = Streko 13 = Shorak 13 = Belarin 12 = Condign 12 = Hras'Ka and his crew
______________________The moment Hras'Ka's warriors clash with Sarquaa's, you realize this is going to be difficult. All of the sahuagin look alike to you; the only ones that are more identifiable are Hras'Ka himself (the "H" with a green glow on the map), Sarquaa (the "Sa" with a green glow), and the two obvious spellcasters on both sides (the two with the blue glows on the map). Each of the opposing spellcasters brandish a bundle of sharpened bones are his right arm—and you have seen this before, on rare occasion, though usually only on coastal areas. It is the holy symbol of the Devourer, the Sovereign of Wave and Whelm, one of the Dark Six. And then you realize: these are not mages, but shamans or priests. At which point Adamant, Condign, Streko, and Shorak recall hearing that sahuagin shun arcane magic. Only the magic of the divine interests them, for they are a religious people. As tridents flash, blood already begins to cloud the water around the sea devils, murking your view already. Telling friend from foe isn't going to be easy. Adamant is the first of you to act, storming out of the bubble and into the seawater. He feels the impact and immediate resistance as he is forced to swim. When he speaks, he finds the sound of his voice is not impaired by the water, as he is not expelling air when he does it. The suddenness of his prayer overwhelms the shaman in a burst of light, which hisses and flails under its assault. The warforged draws his sword out, readying to transform it. Kal's "tsk, tsk" are lost in the din of battle, which is surprisingly loud down here. So he swipes Skyfang in front of him, unleashing a spell. A small shockwave surges through the water and hits the enemy shaman, but the beast withstands it with little effect. Sarquaa, who despite the confusion of this battle is quite easy to spot, sees Adamant's attack and immediately moves to engage Hras'Kal, dragging two pairs of clawed hands across the other sahuagin's chest. Then, to Adamant's surprise, he lashes out with his trident at him even from that distance...but Adamant dodges the three-pronged weapon! Even closer now, Adamant can fully appreciate just how big the four-armed sahuagin is. Even those arms are much longer than his. Sarquaa's shaman (#6), dazed from Adamant's attack, disengages from one of its opponents and swims speedily away, putting greater distance from everyone. One of the enemy warriors swims swiftly over to the edge of your bubble, snapping and hissing but seeming wary of entering the bubble itself. It hesitates for but a second then hurls its trident in! The weapon flies true, but Condign, lacking his shield, manages to duck away from the worst of it. One of its tines slashes him across the leg, creating a painful, bleeding wound. Standing in the dry air, the blood merely soaks into his own clothing. • Adamant's attack (radiant delirium) his sahuagin shaman; 14 radiant damage to shaman and the shaman is dazed until the end of Adamant's next turn, and it takes a -2 penalty to AC (save ends). • Kal's attack (Thunder Slam) vs. shaman's Fortitude save: (1d20+8=13) (miss) • Sarquaa's attack (claw) vs. Hras'Ka's AC: 18 (miss) • Sarquaa's reach attack (trident) vs. Hras'Ka's AC: 31 (hit) / 6 damage to Hras'Ka • Sarquaa's warriors make their attacks against Hras'Ka's. • Shaman moves. • Shaman's saving throw: 13 (success, shaman takes no penalty to AC from Adamant's attack) • Sahuagin warrior's attack vs. Condign's AC: 26 (hit) / 6 damage to Condign A mostly transparent spherical barrier (larger than your bubble) appears as Streko calls upon Olladra for aid, a split second before Shorak releases a crossbow bolt. The bolt slashes through the water but misses its intended target, who has already moved to the edge of the battlefield. Belarin unleashes his spell, targeting the shaman, though he knows the attack was not as effective as it could have been. The shaman's movement become a little erratic, though, still affected by the dark dream Belarin has given him. Condign calls for a protective formation, giving his allies a better chance to defend against incoming attacks if they obey and stay close to him! Hras'Ka's warriors fight on, managing small cuts which continue to cloud the water with blood. The shaman on your side keeps to the edge of the battlefield and rasps out a prayer to the Devourer. Immediately a large dart of some dark blue coalesces from his hand and streaks across the battlefield. It looks like ice or some concentrated, bolt-shape force...and it stabs into the enemy shaman's leg, staining the water red. • Streko casts shield of faith. He and all allies within 25 feet (including Hras'Ka and two ally sahuagin) gain a +2 on AC until the end of the encounter. • Belarin's attack (curse of the dark dream) misses the shaman; 7 psychic damage to the shaman and the shaman is subjected to the dark dream (save ends). Until this effect ends, you can slide the target 1 square as a minor action once per round, starting on your next turn. • Condign uses form a line. Allies standing within the line gain a +1 power bonus to AC (or +2 power bonus to AC for those adjacent to another ally in the line.) This bonus stacks with Streko's bonus. • Hras'Ka's attack vs. Sarquaa's AC: 20 (miss) • Hras'Ka's shaman vs. Sarquaa's shaman's AC: 31 (hit) / 19 damage to shaman • Enemy shaman is bloodied. ______________________ Yes, the numbers are confusing. If/when you attack a sahuagin other than the shaman (#6) or Sarquaa, specify which number you're targeting (I'm not going to tell you which is friend or foe). They're fast and they tend to circle each other as they fight, so it's not easy to know which side is which. If you happen to target one of Hras'Ka's for an attack, I'll roll an Intelligence check for you to see if you can recall at the last moment that it's an ally and hold off on the attack (though you'll miss that round).
Reminder: While a creature is dazed, it doesn’t get its normal complement of actions on its turn; it can take either a standard, a move, or a minor action. The creature can still take free actions, but it can’t take immediate or opportunity actions. It also grants combat advantage and can’t flank.
So Dave, no, the shaman only takes that -2 penalty, not -4. I think you're confusing daze with stunned or something.

The sometimes-teasing, sometimes-malicious, sometimes-helpful voices in Belarin's mind burst out laughing at the bloody chaos in the water, and -- for once -- Belarin joins them. "Ha! This is madness! YOU there!" he calls out, pointing his dagger toward the enemy shaman like an accusing finger. "It's not time for you to leave! I'll give your kin good cause to grieve!" He hurls a blast of red and silver energy at the sahuagin. ____________________________ Minor: Pull the enemy shaman (the blue S6 guy) 1 square northwest, i.e., closer to the bubble, unless it has made its saving throw on the dark dream. Standard: Attack the enemy shaman with eldritch blast vs. Reflex: 1d20+7=19. Didn't include Prime Shot, as there are allies closer to the shaman than he is. Damage: Eldritch Blast damage (1d10+4=9) Minor: Unless Belarin has to move to get the shaman, he'll place warlock's curse on Sarquaa.

Wincing, Condign glares briefly at the sahuagin who had thrown the trident. Then he turns his attention to Sarquaa. He and his cohorts were acting like bullies, and most bullies were cowards. Take down the leader and the rest will scatter. He opens his mind to the pain, allows it to flood over him, making him angry. He embraces the red warmth of his rage, stokes it, focuses is. Raising his hand, Condign points a finger at Sarquaa and unleashes his fury. . .only to have the flames sputter and die. ____________________________ Minor Action: sustain the wall
Standard Action: Hellish Rebuke on Sarquaa.
Attack Roll vs Reflex: (1d20+6=12) and -2 for underwater use of fire.

Kal's voice booms out, over-loud in the underwater environment. "Sarquaa," he calls calmly. "This fight is unnecessary. We only fight to defend ourselves. Cease your attack and we will move on peacefully." Finished speaking, Kal again flicks Skyfang towards the enemy mage, hoping for a better result. A ball of electricity flies from the tip of the dagger, streaking through the air and then slowing as it reaches the water. It casts an odd light as it continues to move towards its target. ___________ Minor action: Kal will use Ghost Sound to begin Diplomacy with Sarquaa.
Standard: Lighting Orb vs. Sarquaa's mage
Lightning Orb vs. Reflex (1d20+8=27) Lightning Damage (1d10+5=15)
Awww, yeah. If it makes more sense in the context of the attack, that can be another Intimidate check instead of a Diplomacy check. Basically, I see Kal right now sounding very much like Luke talking to Jabba before being thrown to the Rancor.

Adamant watches the Sarquaa shaman swim away. "I can do nothing else against the shaman. Deal with him if you can." He turns his eye-gems to Sarquaa himself, "I have a new plan." "Sarquaa! I do not know the betrayal for which you were exiled, but your hour has come. May my Lady judge you fairly!" Adamant's octogram glows. "Hras'Ka is no longer your concern. Your fate and mine are joined." Adamant takes an aggressive stance, holding the longsword one hand at the hilt, one on the blade itself. Suddenly, the sword stretches into a long spear. Once the blade has changed form, Adamant immediately strikes at the sahuagin leader. ------------------------- Challenged at Beginning of round: no one
Minor Action: Divine Challenge on Sarquaa
Move Action: Poly the longsword to a longspear... hey! Now I have REACH! and no underwater penalty.
Standard Action: Attack Sarquaa with Reach... Righteous Smite vs AC (1d20+11=23) If that hits then damage (2d10+6=17) and every ally within 5 sq of Adamant gain 8 temp hp.
Challenged at end of round: Sarquaa

Streko moves up next to Kal and points at the enemy leader. He speaks Olladra's name and a bolt of energy reaches out, but misses its target badly. "I dislike fighting in a bubble. It limits my abilities. I'm sure of it." ____________________________________________________ Streko casts LANCE OF FAITH
ATTACK: 1d20+7=11
DAMAGE: Not even going to bother. Why waste a roll (probably get a natural 20 if I did...bleh...)

Round 3
22 = Adamant 16 = Kal 15 = Sarquaa and his posse 15 = Streko 13 = Shorak 13 = Belarin 12 = Condign 12 = Hras'Ka and his crew
______________________Demanding Sarquaa's attention, Adamant turns his newly transformed weapon against the mutant sahuagin. Malevolent eyes fixed on the warforged, Sarquaa slashes out with one of his tridents and parries Adamant's longspear. The sound of ringing metal carries loudly throughout the water. Kal unleashes a sphere of electricity, which sparks through the water as it flashes across the watery battlefield, and explodes into the enemy shaman. The sahuagin spits a gutteral curse of pain and glares back at Kal, fully aware of where that spell came from. The shaman responds. Instead of swimming anywhere else, the creature shouts something in its language which sure sounds like a supplication to a god. A distortion in the water around him suggests the appearance of something, but you can't see it. Then, two seconds later, a pair of massive, eerily glowing white shark jaws manifests just outside the bubble—startling everyone with their appearance. They're disembodied, lacking the rest of a shark's body or even a head, but they open wide as they shoot into the bubble and close on Kal! He feels multiple teeth pierce him along his torso, and blood spurts out in several places...then the jaws dissolve, leaving only the damage and the bleeding behind. Kal gasps from the pain, seeing the wet turf of the sea floor growing pink with his blood. The sahuagin on both sides continue to snarl and hiss, circling each other as they continue to rend and cut at one another. The blood intensifies. On the edge of your vision, you can spy the ominous shapes of sharks, but so far they're either too small or too far away to pose a threat. Yet. Sarquaa gladly turns on Adamant, drifting closer (though with his weapon and overlong arms, he doesn't need to). The four-armed sahuagin tries to skewer Adamant, but the warforged parries the thrust, then ducks back when Sarquaa's swipes at his face with one free hand. Which doesn't prepare him for a second swipe of the claws from Sarquaa's second pair of arms. Adamant feels razor sharp claws slash against his belly, and a number of woody fibers are torn away. Worse, he can feel that some of the alchemical fluids inside him, which keep him vital, have begun to leak. "You will never see the surface again, false-man!" Sarquaa hisses. • Adamant places Divine Challenge on Sarquaa. • Adamant's righteous smite misses Sarquaa. • Kal's lightning orb hits Sarquaa's shaman / 15 lightning damage to shaman • Shaman's attack vs. Kal's AC: 24 (hit) / 13 damage to Kal, and Kal will take ongoing 5 damage and takes a -2 penalty to all defenses (a successful save ends both). • Shaman's saving throw to end dazed effect: 16 (success, shaman is no longer dazed) • Shaman's saving throw to end curse of the dark dream effect: 20 (success, shaman is no longer effected) • Sarquaa's attack (trident) vs. Adamant's AC: 18 (miss) • Sarquaa's attack (claw) vs. Adamant's AC: 19 (miss) • Sarquaa's attack (claw) vs. Adamant's AC: 24 (hit) / 7 damage to Adamant, and ongoing 5 damage (save ends) Streko throws a spell of his own, but it goes off the mark when it leaves the bubble. Likewise, Shorak's aim is good but still misses, the crossbow bolt flying through the water but doing nothing more than glancing off the enemy shaman's scaly hide. Belarin can sense that the shaman has throwed off the effects of the dark dream, but he throws a blast of silver-and-red fey magic at the sahuagin. The spell sends the sahuagin spinning in place and looking thoroughly battered. With little more than thought and his ancestry, Condign summons fire upon Sarquaa...but his concentration is flawed and the flames flicked and die out a second later. Sarquaa looks surprised by the sudden fire, but it doesn't prevent him from continuing his attack. With Sarquaa focused on Adamant, Hras'Ka swims into a flanking position and drives his trident at the larger sahuagin. The tines strike the four-armed creature's hide, but fail to break through. The sahuagin's natural armor is impressive! Two of the battling sahuagin (#8 and #9) seem to have seized up and now just drift listlessly. As you glance over, you can see blood fuming out of their throats...they're quite dead now. But whose warriors are they? • Streko's lance of faith misses Sarquaa. • Shorak's sly flourish misses the shaman. • Belarin's eldritch blast hits the shaman (just barely) / 9 damage to shaman • Condign's hellish rebuke misses Sarquaa. • Hras'Ka's attack vs. Sarquaa's AC: 22 +2 (flanking) = 24 (miss) ______________________ Yeah, Diplomacy just isn't a workable skill in the midst of combat. Best you can try for is Intimidate, to get an enemy to break off. And it can easily be messed with by allies' actions. Darren, if you keep Kal talking for another round and at least one enemy sahuagin is slain by one of your party, I'll allow a roll. Remember, this is a fear-based sort of influence. Kal doesn't have to be compelling; Kal has to be scary. Dismiss persuasiveness and reason as a method.
Also, if Kal had been standing in Condign's wall formation, he wouldn't have been hit by the shaman's attack.

Adamant makes a small grunt when his belly is attacked. "Well, you have all sorts of attacks, don't you, Sarquaa?" Adamant nods his head, "you have drawn first blood, well done. But I think you'll find it more important who draws last blood." -------------------- At Beginning of Round: Adamant takes 5 ongoing damage. Challenged: Sarguaa
Move Action: none
Minor Action: none
Standard Action: attack Sarquaa Holy Strike vs AC (with flanking) (1d20+10+2=18) not good enough

Kal roars with pain at the attack, but with his voice amplified, it sounds more like the cry of a hunting beast than a wounded animal. He takes a step to the side, nearer to Condign, his eyes focused on Sarquaa, smoldering with anger. As if an extension of his will, that smoldering extends, literally, down Kal's arms. Small bits of flame lick at Kal's sleeves, running up from his hand to his shoulder and back down again. Sparks snap around his fingers and as his brows draw down, his eyes seem to disappear into the recesses of his skull, leaving only black voids. Without taking his eyes from Sarquaa, Kal points Skyfang at the mage, unleashing another ball of electricity. This proves to be a mistake as the orb flies well out of the path of its mark. Kal growls, letting fly with a second attack. Unfortunately, this one, too does not strike it's target. Still, Kal's appearance and anger are a frightening sight as he yells out in his amplified voice, "SARQUAA! ENOUGH OF THIS! CEASE YOUR ATTACK....NOW!!" _____________ Move: one square SE into the wall formation
Standard: Lightning Orb vs. mage Lighting Orb vs. Reflex (1d20+8=9)
ACTION POINT
Lightning Orb vs. Reflex (1d20+8=15)
Oh, good. The dice roller is back.
Kal will continue to use Ghost Sound to amplify his voice.
Intimidate Check (1d20+9=11)
Good lord.....so much for Intimidation. I guess it's hard when you can't help but miss over and over and over and over and over........
Saving throw vs. ongoing damage (1d20=16)
EDIT: If Kal gets hit with an attack that deals more than 20 damage this turn, or takes damage from more than one attack that deals a total greater than 20 damage, he will use the power of his armor to half either that first attack, or the last attack that brings the total higher than 20. If that makes sense.....

Quietly and methodically, Shorak continues to fire his hand crossbow at the hostile mage only to miss the Sahuagin yet again. Sly Flourish (1d20+9=14)I WANT TO ROLL REAL DICE!!! Not to keep beating a dead horse, but I did some math and the average roll I get from the dice roller comes to a whopping 8.8. I'm just sayin'.

Streko calls out to Olladra and clasps his hands, then spreads his arms wide, as if preparing to embrace an invisible figure before him. Ripples of white light twist and turn with strings of black light. Both intertwine with one another and leap away from the halfling toward the leader of the enemy Sahuagin. The white light separates and surrounds each of Streko's allies near him with a benevolant white glow, while Sarquaa is surrounded by a cloud of black energy that ripples and flows with the water around him. Immediately afterward, Streko calls out to olladra again and points directly at Adamant. His holy symbol flares again and a warm orange hue flows down his arm and lances out from his outstretched finger surrounding Adamant is a brief orange haze. That haze then travels down to Adamants weapon and flares brillliantly around it pulsing with water-proof flame and light. All of Streko's allies see that same orange gaze surround their weapons as well, the effect a morale boost as well as a potential attack boost for his friends. ____________________________________________________ STANDARD ACTION: Streko casts WEAL AND WOE. Attack: 1d20+7=21
Not sure if this even comes close to hitting, but...
HIT: 2d6+1=10 + 4 radiant damage and Sarquaa is weakened until the end of its next turn.
MISS: Half Damage and Sarquaa suffers a -1 penalty on all attacks until the end of its next turn.
EFFECT: Each ally in a five square burst gains a +2 power bonus to any attacks until the end of Streko's next turn.
MINOR ACTION: Streko casts BLADES OF HOLY FIRE. Each ally in a five square burst gains the following effect:
EFFECT: The next time the effected allies hit their target before the end of the encounter, that attack deals 1d6 extra fire and radiant damage.

Angered at his failed attempt to burn Sarquaa, Condign decides to embrace his fear and take more direct action. He draws in a deep breath, grips his sword in both hands, and rushes out of the bubble. As soon as he is near Sarquaa, he takes a mighty two-handed, overhead swipe at the sahuagin. When his blow goes wide, Condign musters more strength and draws the blade up into a vicious low chop to Sarquaa. ____________________ Minor Action: Maintain the wall Movement Action: Move three squares south Standard Action: Use Hammer and Anvil on Sarquaa
Attack Roll vs Reflex: (1d20+11=13) (the flanking bonus and the underwater penalty cancel out)
Condign uses an Action Point
Standard Action: use Bastion of Defense on Sarquaa
Attack Roll vs AC (1d20+11=28)
Damage Roll: (3d10+5=15)
All allies within 5 squares gain 8 temp hp. Plus any healing from using an Action Point in sight of Condign

Kal's anger is echoed by Belarin's. Emboldened by his allies' actions, he glares at the shaman and says, "Attack my friend with spectral teeth? Now you'll face my wrath unsheathed!" Another swirl of red-and-silver energy swirls around his dagger hand and bursts through the bubble toward the shaman. ______________________________ Only Belarin gets to take a bite out of Kal, even if it is through cutting remarks, dammit!
Special: If the shaman directs an attack at any of us before Belarin acts, Belarin will strike him with sudden retaliation as an immediate interrupt (eldritch blast). The +2 attack bonus from weal and woe will apply.
Standard: Attack the shaman again with eldritch blast vs. Reflex: 1d20+7=18 +2 from Streko's weal and woe (ah, the Clerics handbook... ) = 20. Damage: 1d10+4 = 13 damage + extra fire and radiant damage (1d6=3) = 16 total damage. Belarin hit with a 19 last round, so I figured I'm safe rolling the extra damage from Streko's spell. Good moment to use that one, Joe!
Belarin spends an action point. He tosses yet another eldritch blast attack at the shaman: 1d20+7=13 + 2 from weal and woe = 15. Probably not good enough, but I'll roll damage anyway. Damage: 1d10+4=12

Round 4
22 = Adamant 16 = Kal 15 = Sarquaa and his posse 15 = Streko 13 = Shorak 13 = Belarin 12 = Condign 12 = Hras'Ka and his crew
______________________Adamant continues to engage Sarquaa, keeping the massive sahuagin's attention on himself, but he fails to injure the creature. As Kal moves toward the edge of the bubble, he releases two electric orbs in rapid succession, but both sizzle and drift off their mark. The human shouts his demands to Sarquaa...who ignores him. Instead, the four-armed sahuagin tears into the Adamant with savage glee. His trident slaps aside the warforged's longspear and stabs two tines into his gut. His body suddenly transfixed by the attack, Sarquaa's clawed hands reach out and rend across metal and wood with ease, tearing fibers and spilling more alchemical fluid into the water, which begin to cloud the water with light gray. The moment is surreal to Adamant, who has already experienced wonders he'd never expected to since leaving Cyre...or indeed since "waking" in the creation forge of a House Cannith compound. He feels pain, or the sort of intense pressure that is equated to pain, and the spilling of his own vital fluids, and he wonders if this is the moment that Dol Arrah will reveal herself to him...to prove that she is real and that she cares for one who is not flesh and blood... But no, he knows he still has plenty of fight left. Sarquaa laughs and snaps his teeth together, elated by Adamant's devastating injuries. The enemy shaman, still weakened by Adamant's attack, can muster only a single sweep of its claws...which forms another ice-like bolt in the water. It launches across the battlefield and buries itself in the chest of one of Hras'Ka's warriors (#12). The sahuagin gasps for breath, its gills working uselessly as blood seeps out from internal and external injuries. Then it just drifts, dead. The other sahuagin rage on against one another. It's hard to see who's hurting who. • Adamant takes 5 damage. • Adamant's holy strike misses Sarquaa. • Adamant ends ongoing damage. • Kal takes 5 damage. • Kal's two electricity orbs miss the shaman. • Kal spends an action point (and heals 6 hit points from Condign's inspiring presence. • Kal ends ongoing damage and -2 penalty. • Sarquaa's attack (trident) vs. Adamant's AC: 27 (hit) / 8 damage to Adamant • Sarquaa's attack (claw) vs. Adamant's AC: 30 (hit) / 9 damage to Adamant, and ongoing 5 damage (save ends) • Sarquaa's attack (claw) vs. Adamant's AC: 30 (hit) / 8 damage to Adamant, and ongoing 5 damage (save ends) • Adamant is bloodied; Sarquaa now gains a +2 bonus to attack rolls and a +5 bonus to damage rolls against Adamant (for being bloodied). • Sarquaa's shaman's attack vs. Hras'Ka's warrior's AC: 24 (hit) / 18 damage to sahuagin • One of Hras'Ka's warriors is slain. Then Streko calls on one of his most powerful invocations to Olladra, coursing black and white tongues of energy twenty-five feet in all directions. From where his is centered, the effect only reaches as far as Sarquaa, who snarls with annoyance as radiant light assails him. The rest of you feel infused with good fortune for a few more precious moments! Then Streko gestures and each of your weapons is suddenly alight with holy fire. Shorak looses another crossbow bolt, which misses its target by inches. But its immediately followed by another surge of Belarin's fey magic, which strikes the sahuagin head on. Erupting around its chest, the shaman spins in place, his trident falling free....and his body no longer moving. Seeing his chosen foe dead, Belarin throws his next blast at Sarquaa, but the silver-and-red fire doesn't even come close to hitting. Condign shouts for his allies to hold the defensive line. Then, seeing Adamant in trouble, he masters his fear of the water, takes a deep breath, and jumps right through the magical barrier separating the sea from breathable air. Hs sweeps his broadsword and cleaves into Sarquaa's tough hide. The sahuagin hisses in response and glares at the tiefling as if assessing the threat he truly poses. Condign's valor, especially in the face of this alien environment, gives everyone else a rush of adrenaline. It will take a hell of a lot to defeat your party. Even Hras'Ka seems emboldened. The sahuagin sticks his trident into one of Sarquaa's legs, clouding the air with the mutant's blood. • Streko's weal and woe misses Sarquaa; 7 radiant damage to Sarquaa and Sarquaa suffers a -1 penalty on all attacks until the end of his next turn. Each of Streko's allies (with 5 squares) gains a +2 power bonus to any attacks until the end of his next turn. • Streko casts blades of holy fire. The next time the target hits before the end of the encounter, that attack deals 1d6 extra fire and radiant damage. • Shorak's sly flourish misses the shaman. • Belarin's eldritch blast hits the shaman / shaman takes 16 total damage • Shaman is slain! • Belarin spends an action point. • Belarin's eldritch blast misses Sarquaa. • Condign maintains form a line (minor action). • Condign's Athletics check (1d20+6=7) • Condign spends an action point to make a second move action: Athletics check (1d20+6=22) (success, he can swim as part of his move) • Condign's bastion of defense hits Sarquaa / 16 damage and radiant and fire damage (from Streko's prayer) (1d6=2) to Sarquaa, and all of Condign's allies within 5 squares gain a +1 power bonus to all defenses until the end of the encounter and 8 temporary hit points. • Hras'Ka's attack vs. Sarquaa's AC: 26 (hit) / 10 damage to Sarquaa
______________________ Whew. Let me know if I forgot anything...
Ken, I wasn't sure what your contingency would be if you killed the shaman on the first attack (which you did), so I just redirected the second one to Sarquaa.
Brian, Condign failed his required Athletics check to successfully swim. So I used that action point for a second move action (to try again, which succeeded) instead of having him use Hammer and Anvil. I figured you wouldn't complain, since that roll was a bust anyway. So he only got one attack this round, but it's the one that was going to hit anyway.

Kal's scowl deepens. It doesn't seem possible, but his face grows even darker with anger. With a tight grip on the pearl in his left hand, he focuses his will, moving the bubble of air closer to Sarquaa and his friends. He holds Skyfang up in front of him, channeling all of his malice through the blade, his focus on the four-armed sahuagin. A sphere of swirling color forms and flies through the air at Sarquaa.... ______________ Move action: Kal will move the bubble such that Sarquaa occupies the space in the bubble that Kal currently occupies. Make sense? That puts Kal in the NW corner, essentially, and Sarquaa in the SE corner.
Standard action: Chromatic Orb vs. Sarquaa
Chromatic Orb vs. Reflex (1d20+8=28)
!!!!!!!!! The dice roller redeems itself!
So with a crit that's full damage, right? So that's 35 damage. Rolling for type....
Damage Type (1d6=3) Green = poison damage, and ongoing 5 damage (save ends)

Belarin sputters as he's briefly and surprisingly enveloped by the ocean again. "Damn your eyes, Kalarian!" he yells as he steps back into the air. "We need to work on hand signals or something!" Still, Belarin appreciates the opportunity to move, and he does so, happily gathering the shadows of the deep around his form. He prepares to attack Sarquaa the instant he makes any move against his friends, and he then points his dagger at the sahuagin leader. "My wise words you did not follow / So your corpse the sharks will swallow!" ___________________________ Special: Since I'm assuming Sarquaa will attack someone on his turn, now Belarin will use sudden retaliation (eldritch blast vs. Reflex) as an immediate interrupt. (I think I confused myself last round.) As it would happen before Streko's turn, the +2 bonus to attacks still applies. Sudden Retaliation (Eldritch Blast) attack (1d20+9=15). Feh. A miss.
Move: 3 squares, ideally to the east of Kal's position on the map, and most importantly not within range of Sarquaa's reach of 2. Belarin gains concealment via shadow walk. (If such movement isn't possible without coming in range of Sarquaa's claws, let's skip the shadow walk.) Minor: No need, as Sarquaa is already cursed. Standard: Attack Sarquaa with witchfire vs. Reflex: 1d20+7=19. Hmm, might not be a hit unless there's an additional bonus from someone else. Damage if a hit: 2d6+5=11, plus 1d6=4 for warlock's curse = 15 fire damage, and Sarquaa takes a -4 penalty to attack rolls until the end of Belarin's next turn. Subtract 1 point if there's no shadow walk.
Jeff: If Sarquaa steps back into the water on his turn, switch Belarin's attack to eldritch blast. He won't risk wasting witchfire in a watery environment.

When the water abruptly falls away, Condign pulls fresh air into his lungs. He turns and calls out words of encouragement to Adamant. Then he attacks Sarquaa, bringing the sword in a high feint, then shifting to slash hard across the sahuagin's scaly chest. ____________________ Movement Action: none Minor Action: Inspiring Word on Adamant. The protective wall is down. Standard Action: use Hammer and Anvil on Sarquaa
Attack Roll vs Reflex: (1d20+11=24) Jeff, if you can add any bonuses, since I don't know where Sarquaa will be.
Damage Roll: (1d10+5=7)
If Sarquaa moves out of range, Condign will only do his Inspiring Word.

A moan comes from Adamant. For a moment he defends without attacking. He shakes his head and sets the pain aside for now. "No. You fight well Sarquaa, but you can not win. This hour may be yours but I will fight until I no longer function. If you destroy me I will go to meet Dol Arrah and She will judge me." "But when you find the hour that knows your name," Adamant continues to talk while defending, "what will be there for you, Exile?" To punctuate the question, the warforged launches a series of attacks. ------------------------- Beginning of round: Adamant takes 5 hp on-going damage
Challenged: Sarquaa
Move Action: None
Minor Action: Warforged Resolve: Adamant gains 3+ half-level (6 total) temp hp and because he's bloodied, also 6 real hp. Also as part of Resolve, he gets a save verses one on-going effect Save vs on-going (1d10+2=12).
Standard Action: Using the weal and woe bonus and the flanking bonus, Shielding Smite vs Sarquaa Shielding Smite vs AC (1d20+15=26) if that hits then damage (2d10+6=12) Effect regardless of hit or miss: Condign gets a +3 bonus to his AC until the end of my next turn.
===== Action Point ====
While we have the +2, make another attack vs Sarquaa: Holy Strike vs AC (1d20+14=21) I don't think it does, but if it hits then radiant damage (1d10+5+3=9)
If either attack hits, the first one that does also deals 1d6 extra fire and radiant damage. fire and radiant damage (1d6=1) Yeah, having a bit of a cold streak here...
Also I'm not sure what "healing from using an Action Point in sight of Condign" means but I'll take whatever healing that means.
end of round: Saves vs on-going damage just in case I need another... Save (1d20+2=22) Oh, sure, now I get the 20...
Challenged: Sarquaa
Reminder: Adamant still has the interrupt to take a damage if an adjacent ally gets hit.

Streko reaches up over his head with botharms, calls out to Olladra and pulls his arms down. Over Sarquaa, a column of blinding light rips down from above. Streko calls out Belarin's name and his friend suddenly feels the good luck of the Goddess of Fortune roll through him. Streko then calls out to Adamant, following his friend's name with his Deity's. Adamant feels the warmth of healing energy surge into him. ____________________________________________________ STANDARD ACTION: Streko casts DAUNTING LIGHT.
ATTACK: 1d20+7=22
HIT: 2d10+6=14
EFFECT: Belarin gains combat advantage against Sarquaa until the end of Streko's next turn.
MINOR ACTION: Streko casts HEALING WORD on Adamant.
EFFECT: Adamant can spend a healing surge and regain an additional 9 hit points.

Shorak nods with satisfaction as the Sahuagin spellcaster is defeated. Moving with the bubble, but staying out of Sarquaa's reach, he turns his crossbow towards him and hopes to bury a bolt into his hide. As he sees his bolt fly wide of the mark, he curses and slams home another bolt and quickly lets it loose towards the huge Sahuagin. Sly Flourish (1d20+11=17)Use an action pointSly Flourish (1d20+11=17)So much for Streko holding his action, thanks anyway. Hell, a +5 wouldn't have helped. That's five misses in a row and what a waste of an action point. Is Shorak really level 6? It feels like he's level 2 or 1.

Round 5
22 = Adamant 16 = Kal 15 = Sarquaa and his posse 13 = Shorak 13 = Belarin 12 = Streko 12 = Condign 12 = Hras'Ka and his crew
______________________After taking a moment to master his pain, Adamant stabs Sarquaa through the shoulder of one of his four arms. The sahuagin's blood clouds the water, but he barely reacts to the obvious pain the wound inflicts. With a moment's concentration, Kal tightens his fist over the sahuagin's pearl and the Sphere of Life slides closer to the battle. Belarin, Streko, and Shorak are suddenly plunged into the cool seawater—a split second after they see what's happening and take a breath of air—while the air falls over Condign, Adamant, and even Sarquaa, leaving them dripping and mildly surprised. Then, without pause, Kal unleashes one of his most powerful spells from Skyfang's tip, a sphere of swirling colors which solidifies into a sickly green when it swishes over Adamant's shoulder and douses Sarquaa in liquid contact poison. The sahuagin screams out in pain and anger, as you see his deep green scales darkening under its touch. • Adamant takes 5 points of damage. • Adamant uses warforged resolve; he heals 6 hit points and gains 6 temporary hit points. • Adamant's shielding smite hits Sarquaa / 12 damage and 1 point of fire/radiant damage to Sarquaa and Condign gets a +3 bonus to his AC until the end of Adamant's next turn. • Adamant spends an action point and heals 6 hit points (from Condign's inspiring presence). • Adamant's holy strike misses Sarquaa. • Adamant saves, ending ongoing damage. • Kal moves the Sphere of Life (minor action). • Kal's chromatic orb hits Sarquaa / 35 poison damage to Sarquaa, and Sarquaa takes 5 ongoing poison damage. Sarquaa, enraged by Kal's attack, sets his malevolent eyes on the human. His expression, despite its unusual physiology, is quite clear: I'm coming for you. First he wades into Adamant again—even as Belarin throws a sudden spell at him, but misses. While the sahuagin's trident stabs into one of Adamant's arms, the warforged briefly grapples with the four-armed mutant and turns his body so that the creature's claws fail to find purchase. The presence of Condign right beside him feels like a godsend. Then Sarquaa hisses and bursts into motion, jumping away from Adamant, Condign, and Hras'Ka, even risking their attacks as he does it: Adamant scraps the sahuagin's hide with his spear, and Condign slashes him across the back. Sarquaa ignores it and surges out of the bubble, through the water, turns and glides into a new attacking position as he approaches both Kal and Belarin! Sarquaa flies into a frenzy of slashing claws and flashing tines, all but ignoring the radiant light which flashes across his body from Adamant's challenge. The sahuagin's long trident bites into Kal's arm, then a pair of rending arms reach into the bubble and take him across the jaw. Pain explodes through Kal's body, as more of his blood is washed into the water at his feet. The deep cut along his jaw line might even leave a scar... Something like a laugh erupts from the four-armed sahuagin. • Belarin's sudden retaliation misses Sarquaa. • Sarquaa's attack (trident) vs. Adamant's AC: 29 +2 (bloodied Adamant) -1 (weal and woe) = 30 (hit) / 9 +5 (bloodied Adamant) = 14 damage to Adamant • Sarquaa's attack (claw) vs. Adamant's AC: 16 +2 (bloodied Adamant) -1 (weal and woe) = 17 (miss) • Sarquaa's attack (claw) vs. Adamant's AC: 20 +2 (bloodied Adamant) -1 (weal and woe) = 21 (miss) • Sarquaa takes a move action. • Adamant's opportunity attack vs. Sarquaa's AC: (1d20+11=28) hits Sarquaa / damage (1d10+5=6) damage to Sarquaa • Hras'Ka's opportunity attack's vs. Sarquaa's AC: 17 (miss) • Condign's opportunity attack's vs. Sarquaa's AC: opp attack (1d20+11=28) (hit) / damage (1d10+5=15) • Sarquaa spends an action point! • Sarquaa's attack (trident) vs. Kal's AC: 30 -2 (marked) -1 (weal and woe) = 27 (hit) / 10 damage to Kal • Sarquaa takes 7 radiant damage from Divine Challenge. • Sarquaa's attack (claw) vs. Kal's AC: 31 -2 (marked) -1 (weal and woe) = 28 (hit) / 11 damage to Kal and Kal takes 5 ongoing damage (save ends) • Kal is bloodied; Sarquaa now gains a +2 bonus to attack rolls and a +5 bonus to damage rolls against Kal (for being bloodied). • Sarquaa's attack (claw) vs. Kal's AC: 21 -2 (marked) -1 (weal and woe) = 18 (miss)
Shorak, taken off guard by the shifting of the Sphere of Life, struggles to swim to the air bubble again, but he just isn't ready. No matter. He's got a breath of air and crossbow bolts to shoot. Taking aim, he releases one, then another...but both bolts swish harmlessly past Sarquaa. Frustration hits him like one of the shaman's watery bolts. This is not where the half-drow was trained to do battle! For a moment, he wonders if the halfling priest's goddess of fortune somehow has it in for him... Belarin redirects himself as he swims back into the bubble of air, narrowly dodging the tines of Sarquaa's sudden, looming presence. The human moves beside Condign and Adamant—else he'd stay either in the water or within the deadly sahuagin's reach. Strangely, the shadows gather around him even here. He throws some of his eldritch fire, but the angle is bad and it dissolves shortly after it penetrates the water. Streko (I'm assuming, Joe?) hastens to get back into the Sphere of Life, then calls down another prayer on Sarquaa. Radiant light envelopes the four-armed mutant. Even before it fades away, Streko calls on Olladra for healing...and Adamant feels his resolve, and his wounds, growing better. Condign speaks words of encouragement to Adamant. For a moment amidst his pain and relief, the warforged wonders where his new friends were back when Adamant was fighting in the war. With allies like these, his victories would have been many. Then the tiefling sighs, takes a deep breath, and sprints across the bubble, his feet splashing in the water at his feet, then attacks Sarquaa in his new position. But the damned sahuagin has drifted almost too far up for Condign to reach! His blade catches the tip of one leg and sends a spurt of blood clouding the water. Hras'Ka, seeing you engaged with Sarquaa in force, swims off to help his allies. You've got virtually no idea what's going on over there. There are dead and wounded sahuagin and lots of blood still churning in the water. • Shorak's Athletics check (1d20+5=8) (failure—sorry, Dave!—Shorak cannot move during this round) • Shorak's sly flourish misses Sarquaa. • Shorak spend an action point. • Shorak's sly flourish misses Sarquaa. • Belarin's Athletics check (1d20+3=20) (success, Belarin can swim during his movement) • Sarquaa's opp attack vs. Belarin's AC: 18 -2 (marked) = 16 (miss) • Belarin's eldritch blast misses Sarquaa. • Streko's Athletics check (1d20+6=15) (success, Streko can swim during his movement) • Streko's daunting light hits Sarquaa / 14 radiant damage to Sarquaa, and Belarin gains combat advantage against Sarquaa until the end of Streko's next turn. • Streko uses healing word on Adamant. Adamant spends a healing surge and heals 23 hit points. • Condign uses inspiring word (1d6=2) on Adamant. Adamant spends another healing surge and heals 16 hit points. • Condign's hammer and anvil hits Sarquaa / 8 damage to Sarquaa.
Refresh the page. ______________________ ______________________ Yup, Sarquaa has entered the third dimension. He is now 2 squares horizontal from Kal (still within reach), 1 square horizontal from Condign, and 1 square vertical. Next round he can get into a position whereby neither Condign nor Kal can reach him in melee.
Reminder about temporary hit points: they don't stack. So while Adamant gained 6 temp hit points from his power this round, he already had 8 from Condign at the time. So the higher value stays. Of course, he ate through those already this round.

I hope the sahuagin are being hospitable? Belarin hears Larest's voice in his mind suddenly, a note of some concern in the telepathic tone carrying through the magic ring he wears. Let me know how you are progressing, when it is convenient.

Belarin touches the ring as he stares balefully above at Sarquaa. Oh yes, very hospitable, he mentally says. Unfortunately, they've brought us right into the middle of a bloody theological battle with a four-armed maniac. A pox on all religions! Don't tell Streko I said that.Moving in such a way to hopefully keep the shadows around him while giving him a clear target, the warlock points toward the mutant with his dagger. "Your skin will burn, your scales crackle / Your death will come and I'll cackle!" _______________________________________ Minor: Talk to Larest. Move: Okay, Belarin wants to get into a position where he can blast Sarquaa and not hit any allies (close blast 3). Thanks to Sarquaa's vertical movement, this should be easier. If Belarin can move 3 squares safely while doing this, even better. Perhaps the square northeast of Adamant's current position? Standard: Attack Sarquaa with crackling fire (close blast 3) vs. Reflex. I've got the +2 from Streko (thanks, Joe), which cancels the -2 penalty for this being a fire attack: 1d20+7=25. Huzzah!
Damage: OHHH! Max damage! 2d8+5=21, plus 1d6=6 for warlock's curse = 27 fire and lightning damage, and Sarquaa gains vulnerable 5 fire and vulnerable 5 lightning (save ends both). Streko and Condign might be able to take advantage of that this round (Round 6). The rest of you will have to wait for your Round 7 attacks. Special: Belarin maintains concealment from Shadow Walk. If he wasn't able to move 3 squares, it'll fade at the end of his turn.

Shorak focuses on the matter at hand and swims back into the bubble moving a couple of steps towards the center, finding himself between Streko and Adamant. Looking towards Sarquaa, he draws his short sword and a stream of acid flies toward the mutant Sahuagin and curses again in Drow as the acid just flies past him to dissapate in the water. Athletics check (1d20+5=21)Move into the bubble. 2 squares of swimming, 2 squares in bubble.

Streko calls out to Olladra once more, pointing his finger at the enraged Sahuagin. His holy symbol flares and a brilliant ray of light erupts from the halfling's outstretched fingertip and sears Sarquaa with golden radiance. They erupt off his scales in a shimmering sparkle, allowing Kal the equivalent of a bullseye to target. Streko then calls out to his beloved Goddess a second time, asking her to help heal Kalarian's wounds so that he may continue fighting. ____________________________________________________ STANDARD ACTION: Streko casts LANCE OF FAITH. ATTACK: 1d20+6=20 DAMAGE: 1d8+6=11 +Kalarian gains a +2 power bonus to his next attack roll against Sarquaa. MINOR ACTION: Streko casts HEALING WORD on Kal. Condign growls in frustration as he watches Sarquaa swim up. The damn sahuagin was trying to get out of their reach! As quickly as he can, Condign attacks with every bit of strength that he has. ________________________________ Okay, time for contingencies.
Attack Plan Alpha: Sarquaa is still within melee range.
Movement Action: however many squares needed to stay within melee range and not go outside the bubble. Minor Action: None Standard Action: Viper's Strike on Sarquaa. Kal gets the opportunity attack if Sarquaa shifts. Free Action: If Sarquaa hits a bloodied ally this round, Condign will use the sword's encounter power.
Attack Roll vs AC: (1d20+13=17)
Attack Plan Beta: Sarquaa is out of melee range.
Movement Action: none Minor Action: switch to crossbow Standard Action: Shoot the bugger
Attack Roll vs AC: (1d20+5=25)

Kal wipes blood from the corner of his mouth with the knuckle of his first finger. He looks up at Sarquaa floating above them, studying his movements, waiting for his opening...... _____________________ Okay, Kal will delay until right after Sarquaa. Then his actions will depend on what Sarquaa does....
If Sarquaa stays where he is, Kal will move the bubble up to drop Sarquaa to the ground, then use a second action to lower the bubble back down so that we're not all swimming.
If Sarquaa has moved down but next to the bubble, Kal will move the bubble to surround Sarquaa, then attack with Lightning Orb. He'll also shift one square away from Sarquaa, if possible.
If Sarquaa has moved farther away than that, Kal will move to the center of the bubble and then use Lightning Orb on him.
Lightning Orb vs. Reflex (1d20+8=19)
Lightning damage (1d10+5=8)
No matter what, if Sarquaa hits Kal, he will use the power of his armor to half the damage.
Also, if Sarquaa provokes an opportunity attack from Kal, he will use the power of his dragonmark to shift one square away from Sarquaa (I guess after the attack?) towards the center of the bubble.

After Condign's inspiration and Streko's prayer, Adamant feels completely rejuvinated. "Thank you friends, your aid is most welcome!" "You, Exile, can not simply swim away from your judgement! It will follow you; by my hand or anothers!" Adamant tromps through the mucky sea bottom to stand under the sahaugin leader and stabs up. ------------------------- Beginning of round: Adamant takes 5 hp on-going damage
Challenged: Sarquaa
Move Action: I think if I move 1 N and 1NE I can strike at Sarquaa again (I have reach)
Minor Action:
Standard Action: Bolstering Strike vs AC (1d20+11=12) Wow, a 1. I'm guessing I miss.
end of round: I don't think I have anything to save against...
Challenged: Sarquaa
Reminder: Adamant will use Martyr's Blessing if an adjacent ally (party member, not the fish-guys with the exception of Hras'Ka... Adamant would take a hit for him) gets hit. (sorry for the vague last time)
--------------------------- I did remember that temp hp's don't stack. Still Adamant tends to go through them as fast as he gets them. By design...
Sorry this is short been a busy day... likely to be a busy weekend.

Dividing this round into two parts...
Round 6
22 = Adamant 16 = Kal (delay) 15 = Sarquaa
______________________Adamant, feeling worlds better about his condition, turns and strides across the air bubble, splashing with his feet as he goes...then stabs up at Sarquaa. The sahuagin swats the spear tip aside with ease. Kal, forming a plan, stalls for a moment... Sarquaa does not remain still. With a mighty kick that sends a storm of small bubbles swirling around him, he glides to the side, beyond the reach of Condign's weapon. Even as he settles into place, one of his tridents stabs out at Kal—! Which the dragonmarked anticipates...and realizes two late that it was a feint. The sahuagin's second trident flashes at him through the bubbles and impales him through the arm and shoulder. Kal cries out from the sudden and unbelievable pain. He sees blood spitting out of his own mouth. It isn't enough to bring him down, though! Kal is a warrior and sorcerer of House Deneith. The Mark of Sentinel will not falter— And just as quick, multiple sahuagin claws reach out at him. One of them seems to rebound off an invisible shield—Streko's shield of prayer! The other, however, flashes in and quickly away..and Kal feels something warm and wet gushing down his shirt beneath his armor. Beside him, Condign's eyes widen to see the large wound the sahuagin's claws have torn across Kal's collar. Kal feels unimaginably weak as his own weight carries him painfully off the two tines that punctured his body... "You're just meat now, human!" Sarquaa roars out , and it's the last thing Kal hears before the blood loss claims him completely. The last thing he sees are Sarquaa's huge eyes, and he thinks they look discolored, swollen and purplish. Must be the poison...from that...very successful...spell... Kal collapses, splashing to the wet, sandy, and marine-plant-filled floor, the pearl still in his grasp. • Adamant's bolstering strike misses Sarquaa. • Sarquaa takes 5 poison damage. • Sarquaa shifts 1 square diagonally up and west (placing him for the moment out of Condign's reach, 2 spaces from Kal and Adamant) • Sarquaa's attack (trident) vs. Kal's AC: 26 +2 (Kal is bloodied) -2 (marked) = 26 (hit) / 8 +5 (Kal is bloodied) = 13 damage to Kal • 7 radiant damage to Sarquaa from Divine Challenge. • Sarquaa's attack (claw) vs. Kal's AC: 21 +2 (Kal is bloodied) -2 (marked) = 21 (miss) • Sarquaa's attack (claw) vs. Kal's AC: 26 +2 (Kal is bloodied) -2 (marked) = 26 (hit) / 8 +5 (Kal is bloodied) = 13 damage to Kal and Kal will take 5 ongoing damage • Kal is dying. Refresh the page. ______________________ So I'm halting here for a moment to see if you guys want to do anything different with Kal down. If you make an attack, keep the rolls you've already got. Note that Kal is also going to take more damage each round until he makes his save (which he can keep doing every round) or someone helps stabilize him. As well as death saving throws.
So Darren, just make two saving throws for Kal for this round. Also, this is a good time to think about when to use Dragonflame Mantle and the daily power of Kal's mithral chain!
Dave, I don't think Adamant needed to take any ongoing damage this round. He saved from last round.
The rest of the round will be:
13 = Shorak 13 = Belarin 12 = Streko 12 = Condign 12 = Hras'Ka and his crew
