Again, I just wanted to get this out there in the IC thread. Thanks. If anyone wants to organize a party-only team meeting, go right ahead. I think things are working just fine for now, including bringing in Larest. We might want to discuss things without NPCs around following that meeting, but no need to change things up at the moment (IMO, anyways).

Joe, I liked your post... Very fun... But I was figuring we were all together before Adamant ran his questions even if it wasn't until nighttime.

Except no one told me...and I wasn't informed that I had been replaced...Streko will probably stay there until someone relieves him. He certainly wouldn't abandon his post!!

Joe, if we're specifically talking OOC about discussing things as a group, I think it's safe to assume that either someone told Streko, or someone relieved him and he stumbled across it. No one "told" Syrdan about the meeting, either - at least not specifically in a post - but based on OOC discussion, it was reasonable to make him part of the conversation. The same goes for your character.

The group talk was covered by this, following various in-and-out-of-character discussions about everyone needing to talk.

Are things in mid-conversation? I'm just waiting for you all to get to the Atoll.

I thought Belarin was going to find Histra to ask about the atoll, but then he started talking to Larest, so....y'know. I guess we're all waiting on Ken.

FYI: Mike has sent word from the wilderness of Michigan that, as expected, he won't be able to check DE for a couple of days, but Syrdan gives his thumbs-up to proceed with the nighttime landing.

Oh, sure. I see how this works. Syrdan has to promise to behave - twice! - but Histra says nothing, without any repercussions or lectures ...

Correct. Skyfang's glowing effect isn't exactly a catch-all for "all bad things."

I am aware of that. I just wanted to see if there was a presence on the atoll that was detectable by Skyfang. Give me a little credit. Sometimes when you don't mention things it's because you missed them.

Jeff, I had posted that Shorak was moving to the square north of Streko. Is there a reason why he couldn't make it there?

Sorry about that. I missed "north" and caught "behind," and figured I had to interpret. Fixed now.

Darren: Anyone wanna bet getting there ain't gonna be easy? ;D Oh, definitely not. But what I meant was that we have a bad habit of making a plan, and then not following through on it.

Jeff and I actually talked about this earlier. The part of the island we are on now is 20 feet above where the boat is. So the only way to get to the water would be to jump, which may or may not be safe. Kal could Lightning Shift into the water without jumping, and then maybe swim to the boat, but everyone else would either have to jump or take the long way around.
I sort of anticipated that Jeff was going to make us go around to the high side of the island and then not make it easy to get back. Unfortunately, he apparently also thought about our possible escape routes.
DM's are jerks.

Twenty feet of falling damage isn't that bad, compared to a protracted battle.
If Syrdan's ritual for walking on water is still intact, he could conceivably jump to the water, run to the ship, and have Captain Morsha bring the ship to where the rest of the group is. (Unless there's an obvious reason why the ship wouldn't be able to come close to where we're currently standing.)
Besides, the deck of the ship should be raised about 15-20 feet out of the water, based on its size. (Sorry, did a ton of research on galleons and Elizabethan-era warships for something I wrote not too long ago.) We shouldn't be looking at much of a drop to the decks of the Merrow Down instead of the water.

How long would it take for Syrdan to get to the Merrow Down and for the Merrow Down to get back to where we are? It might almost be quicker to just try to make our way around the island and (hopefully) not get killed.
Alternatively, if Syrdan wanted to try this plan out, his initial jump down to the water could also tell the rest of us if there are rocks or anything that might cause us extra damage. If not, we might all be able to jump.
On the other hand (how many hands is that, now?), if we end up in the water and having to fight some kind of big...thing...it might not turn out well.

If you recall, it took about ten minutes of rowing to get from the Merrow to the inner atoll. Morsha sent you out with the skiff because she doesn't know or trust the waters near the atoll, not wanting to run aground.
