This thread is intended to hash out some gameplay format. I don't care how silly it is. I just want to try and use the format previously posted about (http://tinyurl.com/34c395) and test out the dice roller system. As the DM, I will use my own dice roller. But players—for now—should use the dice roller found here: krisinchico.brinkster.net/rolldata.asp)The Adventure BeginsThe erstwhile heroes step out onto the asphalt floor of the arena. They seem taken aback that the floor is made of asphalt in this otherwise fantasy-esque world. Yet there is no time to debate the obvious anachronism... A huge portcullis at the other end of the arena lifts with shocking speed and a 10-foot, simian giant steps into view. He wears what appears to be a series of filthy burlap sacks tied together. A thick tree branch serves as a crude club, while shrapnel from an M2 machine gun lies imbedded in the wood to give the weapon a deadly bite. "What heck is floor stuff?" the giant asks as he looks down at the asphalt. Then he glances at the bullet shrapnel and double-takes. "Wha....?" But the giant spies the heroes and advances toward the center of the vast space. "Who you!?" he bellows, his voice carrying across the arena floor. _____________________ Combat has not yet been initiated. If anyone does plan on initiating it, say so.

"Holy crap," Nightraven says, slipping the laser pistol back into its holster as he realizes that while the arena possesses a floor of asphalt, it's not quite ready for his future-built weaponry. "I am Nightraven Blackshadow, cousin of the third king," he boldly answers the giant. He glances dubiously around at his fellows, then points to the giant. "Do you think we can take this guy?" He fishes around the pockets of his planar coat, as if looking for an appropriate weapon. Soon he produces a long metal rod. " The big yellow one is the sun," he chants, invoking the weapon's power. A glowing ball of fire appears at the rod's tip, effectively creating some sort of fiery mace. _____________________ Nightraven's sunmace grants him fire resistance 5 while he holds it, and if anyone gets within 5 feet of him, it will automatically deal them 6 damage.krisinchico.brinkster.net/searchroll.asp?username=Nightraven#187600

"Whoa! Wait a second!" shouts Darkblood Bloodwrath, from behind Nightraven. "Perhaps this... thing... can listen to reason!"
He waits for confounded looks. When he realizes no one is paying attention to him, he adds, "And by reason I mean my fist!"
Darkblood activates the priming mechanism on his mecha-fist. While he has no idea what a mecha-fist is, he assumes it takes some time to warm up. Electricity arcs between his knuckles as it charges.
Darkblood's mecha fist takes one round to fully charge.

(I think straight descriptive, action text can just be white. For now, let's just use pink for any relevant game rules talk. So in the previous post, I think the green text could just be white. It's all in-game description, whereas talk about how long it takes to charge up the mecha-fist should indeed be pink.)
Nightraven looks over his shoulder and grins. "The way you said that....you...are you one of the Newport Bloodwraths? I used to be friends with a Rageblood Bloodwrath. Is he any relation?"

Darkblood's eyes darken, and a sorrowful look crosses his face. "Aye... he was my brother... but no longer."

Unhappy to be ignored, the giant advances and starts waving his club around. "No not speak to Gore!"
Much to everyone's surprise, instead of attacking with his club, the giant—Gore—opens his mouth and emits a freakish scream!

Nightraven blanches, then grits his teeth and launches himself foward, intent upon smacking the giant with his sunmace.
As he moves, he shouts a battle cry: "It's not okay to wear red after Moil Day!"
_____________________
Nightraven's initiative roll is 18. His Will save is 5 (ugh). If he does get close enough to hit with his sunmace, his attack roll is 17. The damage would be (1d8+3+3 fire damage) 13.

Seeing Nightraven spring into action, Darkblood shakes away his gloomy reveries. "I'm not gonna let my brother's transvestitism stop me from giving you the fist!Seeing the meter on his mecha-fist has reached its peak, he widens his stance, plants his feet, and shouts "SUPER MECHA-FIST-- LAUNCH!!!" His metallic arm emits a loud popping sound as the left fist detached, flying toward the screaming giant. "Hmm! So that's what that does." Darkblood's initiative roll is 20. His will save is 18. If the fist flies true, his attack roll is 19. The damage would be 10 (1d8+2 stunning spikes). krisinchico.brinkster.net/searchroll.asp?username=Darkblood%20Bloodwrath#187611

The Battle Begins
Both Darkblood and Nightraven spring into action, too quick for Gore to bring his own weapon to bear first.
Darkblood launches the fist, and it slams into the giant's chest and sticks there with a wet splatting sound. Burlap and skin peel away from the nasty wound. The giant's scream abates as he yelps in pain.
Nightraven dashes in only a split second later, bringing his sunmace in a low sweep. He strikes the giant, but weakly, for his senses are overwhelmed by the harsh scream, which still lingers faintly in the air. The fire of the sunmace flares against Gore's legs, scorching them badly.
Enraged now, Gore brings his studded club down against Nightraven. The plane-hopper steps aside but the mighty backswing takes him in the shoulder. There is a crunching sound, made from splintering wood or cracking bone, and pieces of the shrapnel drop loose. Nightraven screams, but he's still alive and standing and not looking so good.
Gore grins big and readies himself for another attack.
_____________________
The giant's initiative is 13.
The order in this battle will be: Darkblood Nightraven Gore
Nightraven sucumbs to the giant's scream, suffering a -4 morale penalty on all his actions for the duration of the battle.
Gore's attack roll is 17 and he deals 15 points of bludgeoning damage to Nightraven.
