Brian: No worries about your time away from DE. I'll slow the game down during that time, and try to leave off in a good place for you. Remind me when it gets closer, okay? Joe: It's tomorrow now. Can you see, hear and run without getting a heart attack? Go Joe!

I have a headache, but I managed to make it through getting a TB shot...four vials of blood removed from me, a hearing test, a vision test, a lung capcity test (not as easy as it sounds) and a thorough going by the doctor, followed five hours later...yes, five hours later, but an 11 minute job on a treadmill ttached to eight electrodes monitoring my heart rate and blood pressure (which ould only be fitted after the nurse removed eight patches ofhair from my chest....). I am pretty sure I apssed everything, but won't know until Monday...and then Tuesday is the scary test...the psych evaluation. My goal is to make sure I don't talk myself into screwing it up and failing it. I will keep the gamers of DE informed on how it goes. A week from tomorrow, I should know something if I officially get the job.

During the psych test, DON'T talk about your other life online as a halfling.
Just sayin'.....

Joe, as a former psychologist with a graduate degree to prove it, my best advice is to relax. Trust me, you can't screw it up. Seriously. Whether it is a pen-and-paper test like the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory), a commonly used 300+ question test, or just a verbal assessment by a psychologist/psychiatrist, nervousness is factored into the results. Just be yourself and you'll be fine.
Unless you talk about the little halfling that lives inside your head. Then the butterfly nets come out. ;D

... MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) ...
Gulp. I suddenly have a strange urge to watch The Matrix. Or play Shadowrun.

Ugh. Be warned, if you haven't confronted it already: the ads on these message boards are beginning to have an annoying audio component. Hate those things.

If you use Firefox and use the Adblocker Plus add-in, you don't see any ads on this site, period.

Well, here you go. You crazy Michiganders! Sorry to say, though, I think I'm still on the deer's side. Or, if Brian were an NPC in DE:

Did you have to make the picture so big?! The deer were perfectly safe. I haven't fired a rifle in decades. ;D

Y'know, Jeff....your two posts here sort of tie together. I mean, look at what D&D has done to poor Brian!

By the way...I wasn't going to say anything just yet, 'cause no contracts have been signed yet, but I figured...what's the harm? Just don't tell anyone outside of this group. I was asked by WotC to write Eberron content for D&D Insider. It's far from more novel-writing, but I'll actually be creating Eberron canon this time. And here I'd thought WotC shut the door entirely to future work.

In case you don't, you should know that Josh has just put up everything freakin' piece of music he's ever recorded as a free download. For you writer types, I can testify that this is excellent writing music. Some are pop-ish, some are songs (and these are usually my favorite), but most are instrumental pieces that are perfect for various ambiances. You should totally go and snag some. If it's too much for you, I can make suggestions. But for starters, follow the link and do a Ctrl+F for "Jeff LaSala."

Like our pal Jeff, I'm now going to be doing the occasional article for Examiner.com. I'm the, ahem, Geek Culture Examiner for Jersey City. My first article went online about an hour ago: Geek culture highlights for 2009.

Nice, Ken. It looks like you and I have an awful lot in common...
...although I admit myself getting a bit bored with Dragon Age. But I will have to check out "Blackest Night". That sounds interesting.

Excellent start, Ken. I've subscribed to your Examiner posts. And for those who may have missed it, Josh, too, became the Chicago Home Recording Examiner. Look what I started!
