Streko awakens, feeling refreshed and energized again with Olladra's blessings. His first thought is to his friends. He glances at Kal and SHorak, both having suffered greatly the day before. He can do so little for Adamant, he knows, and the thought bothers him. He is a healer who cannot heal a friend. "Something must be done about that," he says.
He looks over at the still-sleeping Dryad. "You have been hurt worst of all, my dear," he says. "Allow me to assist in your healing as best I can at this moment." He gently places his hands upon Calirataia's shoulder and allows Olladra's healing energy to envelope her.
He takes a moment to look around the camp he helped set up, to look at his friends. "Now, what kind of mischief can we get into today?" he asks, loudly enough for all to hear. ____________________________________________________
Streko casts Greater Restoration and takes away another level of exhaustion away from Cali.

Shorak opens his eyes slowly, when he hears different voices calling to him and giving him orders. He waves a hand, "Give me a moment." He calls and stretches out on the sand, almost cat-like. "Is there food available? I am famished." He says. Now fully awake, he rises quickly and with his usual grace. Listening to everything that's been going on while he slept, Shorak just smiles and looks at Adamant. "Good thing you have such magic to keep us fed and nourished. If your mount is willing, I would truly enjoy a ride. With you, of course."
He raises his arms and stretches a bit more. "All right. Let me look at this chest." He says. Shorak reaches into his cloak and pulls out a small pouch as he walks over to the chest. He looks at the lock and then pulls out two small metal shafts and inserts them into the lock. Working carefully and with complete focus.
Shorak attempts to open the lock: 1D20+12=15. If his Reliable Talent is in play, then the roll becomes a 22.

The lock is a good one, and it’s not a quick open...but Shorak sees it done. The click is subtle, but the halfdrow feels it. Unlocked.

When Streko comes over Calirataia, Adamant asks him to stay with the dryad.
Lucatrent, he pats the strider’s neck, Stay with Calirataia, I need to find containers to feed us all.
He will help Melethos in the wreck, looking for containers and makeshift plates.

Lucatrent.
'Here' is difficult to explain. I have crossed a great body of water since we last stood in the stables with Father Charl. We are in a place called Xen'Drik.... We are on a quest to retrieve an ancient thing of power.... ....For now we should enjoy the day as best we can. Are you hungry? I am not like Father Charl, I do not eat.
The horse listens without response for some time. If there is need to travel, I shall carry you. If there is a boat, I will wait as needed.
I will hunger, but not now. I am well.He looks over at the still-sleeping Dryad. "You have been hurt worst of all, my dear," he says. "Allow me to assist in your healing as best I can at this moment." He gently places his hands upon Calirataia's shoulder... When Streko touches the dryad's shoulder, she stirs at last. He hesitates, and feels from both his magic and his experience that she might be well enough on her own now.* When Streko comes over Calirataia, Adamant asks him to stay with the dryad. Lucatrent, he pats the strider’s neck, Stay with Calirataia, I need to find containers to feed us all. After Adamant walks away, the steed droops his head, smelling at Calirataia. She opens her eyes, turns, and looks at Streko and at the silver-coated horse. "Good morning, Streko," she says with a quiet smile. "Who is your handsome friend?" She reaches up and touches the horse's noise. Melethos wades out into the water to the bow portion of the wreckage. He begins to shift through the sand and water, moving deeper into the water. If he doesn't find anything, he'll swim a little further out, looking for more wreckage. He will help Melethos in the wreck, looking for containers and makeshift plates. The warforged and the tiefling push through the gaps and the frames, sloshing into the shallow water and the debris. They begin to sift through it, and both are instantly reminded that this must have been a feeding place at some point. There are enough bones here for at least seven humanoids and quite a few very large fish. Yet it's too shallow for an aquatic predator. There also fragments of shells: hard, large shells of some large bird?
A few minutes go by, as each sifts through the heavy rubble and bones. Melethos is finding nothing serviceable, no bowls or vessels that could contain water. Nothing is here is so intact.
Adamant finds nothing, either, but he does notice, just where the water stops being so shallow and further toward the rest of the river, that there is something in the water not like the rest. Golden in hue, it looks like a door, or part of a door? He can't tell if it's just gilded with paint or is actual made of something like gold. It's not a bowl, but some kind of hatch.
Calirataia has had a long rest (which removes 1 level of exhaustion) and 3 levels of exhaustion removed by Adamant's Lay on Hands. She doesn't actually need Streko's spell here! He can save it. Adamant's Wisdom (Perception) check - 19 Melethos's Wisdom (Perception) check - 8

Belarin paces back and forth in the sand as Shorak works his own brand of magic. The lock is a good one, and it’s not a quick open...but Shorak sees it done. The click is subtle, but the halfdrow feels it. Unlocked. He hears a satisfied sigh from his friend. "Shorak, did you get it?"

It's a curious thing. This "door" is on the large size, shaped more like a pentagon than a rectangle, and it appears to be made of thick wood (colored golden in hue but probably not real metal), and yet it's not floating. Because it's fixed into the rock, nestled at an angle, almost but not quite horizontally. There's no handle, but there is a window on one side instead of a doorknob, and maybe it's barred. It's so chocked with river plants, it can't be casually peered through.

Water laps at his waist as Melethos peers at the "door." He focuses on what might be a window. Removing his dagger, he tries to cut away at the plants that have overgrown it.

Melethos has to hold his breath and go under the water ot get close enough to see what he's doing. But the blade cuts through the freshwater seaweed easily enough, and in a minute, he'd cleared the window (which is about one foot by one foot in size). Crisscrossing metal bars, rusty but thick, bar the window. Through it, is blackness. The tiefling's darkvision allows him to peer a short distance, but it's not just gloom, it's also the angle. It looks like the door is the entrance to an underwater tunnel winding quickly out of sight beneath the beach and jungle.

Kicking strongly, Melethos surfaces next to Adamant. "It looks like some kind of tunnel extending down and perhaps under the beach*. I don't want to open it just yet, but I'm going to see if there is any way to open it. Be back soon."
Melethos breaths deep once, twice, then submerges again. He lets his armor carry him down until he reaches the door. He then starts inspecting it more closely, looking for any way it may open.

It's just a few feet down, it's not something he has to swim far down to (but to see the work of cutting, his head had to go under.
Melethos finds no knob or handle. Yet the door is somehow fixed into the rock; there must be hinged he can't get eyes on. Nevertheless, he can reach fingers around the bars and grip the door.

Melethos feels a slight give. With enough tugging, he thinks it can simply be wrenched open. It isn't a lock, just requiring great strength.

Streko smiles as Calirataia addresses him. "This, my Lady, is Lucatrent. He is a steed summoned by Adamant and is, if I am correct, much like Tangat is to Kalarian. Not familiars, exactly, but linked to one another. He appears to like you," Streko says. "If you don't mind, I wish to make my rounds to the others, to see how they are doing. If you have any need, I am just over here." With that, Streko will check on his comrades to see if they are in need of anything he can provide.

"He is delightful," the dryad says, and she starts to speak words in the language of druids. The horse perks up, seeming to understand it. "Go, go, I am all right, Streko. Thank you. I feel . . . so much better."
Calirataia stands up, places two hands on the nearby palm tree, and steps right into it. Vanishing as she does on the Dragonfly. Only to emerge from a different tree less than twenty feet away. She lets out a breath and laughs.
Belarin and Histra can't help but regard the fey's moment of glee. Belarin almost sees the necromancer smile; she does shake her head just a bit.
Calirataia then approaches those gathered around the chest. "Bracken will be in a frightful state right now. Has anyone learned anything? I have one idea. Where is Adamant? Is everyone well?"
Histra walks closer to the dryad. "We are all alive. It is a good day. But I would like to know more about your experience with the gaunt." The dryad's expression falls. "Another day," Histra quickly adds. "Of course. Another day." Calirataia only nods at this.

Shorak looks at the lock picks he used, wiping a bit of very fine metal particles from them and puts them back in their pouch, slipping it away within his cloak. "Alright. Just to be safe, everyone stand clear." When those that have been watching him work the lock move away from the chest, Shorak carefully raises the lid, ready to leap away if there are any other surprises they missed noticing.

Holding his breath again, Melethos goes down under the water and pulls...there is no immediate give, this thing feels jammed, if not locked... Shorak lifts the lid, which swings open with barely a whisper of sound, as if on well-oiled hinged. No creaks of the metal, no groans of the wood. Before Shorak even peers inside, all those gathered near the chest (even those who stepped back a few paces) feel as though something momentous has occurred. There is no sound, no sight, but it's like something has been unsealed. There is no emotion stirred, no positive or negative impulse. It's odd. And then the underwater hatch gives, and swings outward from one side and up in his direction. Water could already pass through the bars in smaller streams, but it flows in and out of the threshold now in stronger currents, just for a moment, and it nearly pushes Melethos away. But he holds on until it passes, and Melethos feels an especially warm amount of water flow out from the revealed tunnel. Then Shorak looks in, and the sunlight falls upon the contents of the chest... The chest is only half-filled, and though it does not brim with treasure, that lower half is filled. Coins of gold and silver and copper are loose within, catching the light and shining a thousand different directions. Even gemstones poke through and add to the shine. Shorak sees there are other things mostly buried within the coins: fine cloth bags, a jar, a potion bottle, the corner of a smaller coffer, the handle of a weapon, and more.

When the water pressure eases, Melethos stands so his head is above water.
"I opened the tunnel," he tells Adamant. "Warmer water flows from it. Very curious. But we still need to find containers for food and water." He looks back at the beach, sees the chest opened and Shorak peering inside.
"Well now," he says. "I think we should rejoin the others first. Follow me, my friend. Let's see what mischief is happening."
Melethos wades through the water, making his way to the beach, where he meets up with the others. He stands next to Belarin and watches as events unfold.

"Perhaps we should close the door as we leave," Adamant pushes the door back into it's place. "I will gather some wood for plates, we can fill what waterskins we have with water. It will waste much of the water but I don't see any containers here either."
"We should note to think about containers in the future. I am expecting to have to summon food and drink when we get to the desert part of our trip..."
Adamant grabs as much flat-ish boards as he can find or wrench free and then follows Melethos back to the sand.

Adamant finds that the door does not sink easily back into place. Like it's now jammed and won't go in properly.
He only finds a few slabs of stone in the rubble, heavy and not especially easy to handle. He can't even guess what they came from. Not likely part of any ship.

Kal lets out a breath that he didn't realize he was holding. He grins, looking into the chest. He reaches in with one hand, carelessly, picking up a handful of coins and letting them slip through his fingers to fall, clinking, back into the chest. __________________ And I will pause here to see if Kal's hand burns off....

The coins sure feel real, and no illusion. They chink in all the right ways and gleam. They even appear to have been polished or newly minted or perhaps preserved from grime with magic. His fingers brush along the edge of that smaller coffer.

Kal runs his hand lighting over the top of the coins again. "Well," he says, "that's wonderful. Shorak, Belarin, why don't you make a quick assessment of what is here and let us know if anything will be immediately useful. The rest we'll bring back to the Dragonfly in the chest." Kal turns and smiles at Calirataia. "Speaking of the Dragonfly, it is good to see you well again, my dear. Can you sense the ship nearby, or do we need to begin scouting for Captain Brack?"

Belarin immediately sees several auras emitted from the assorted treasure. Transmutation, illusion, and divination come quickly to the fore, but there are also radiations which have no prevailing school of magic in effect. The weapon-handle sticking out is one such; it glows in his site but offers no particular clues to its function. Histra touches his arm, looking in with great interest as well. She is eager to examine anything. Calirataia, in contrast, seems disinterested in the treasure, glancing at it only for a moment. "I am sorry," she says to all of you, as if not realizing everyone's eyes are on the treasure, "that I was snared, and that you have had to rescue me. I am indebted." She smiles as Adamant approaches. She strides over to him and takes one of his metal hands. "Lucatrent is exceptional. You will have to tell me more about how he came to be here. Will he journey with us on the river?" Kal turns and smiles at Calirataia. "Speaking of the Dragonfly, it is good to see you well again, my dear. Can you sense the ship nearby, or do we need to begin scouting for Captain Brack?" "Not in the way you are meaning," she answers, "until it is much closer. But I know of one way to search for it. You will need to give me a little while. But first...who is hungry?" It's not clear whether she has food somewhere in mind.
