Even as the fiend takes in the situation, Belarin's spells assault him as well. Only the second blast of silver-and-red fire strikes true, but then Histra, still leaning up against the rail in the rowboat, speaks what is for her a simple spell: a ghostly hand manifests and flies straight into the yugoloth's face grasping with deathly digits.
The fiend says, "You think this is victory? We shall see."
He snarls words of magic and then three illusionary duplicates of him appear around him, moving in a disorienting pattern and making it hard to tell which is the real one. Each one appears to clutch its own seaweed-wrapped egg. But casting this spell of defense prevents him from teleporting, so instead he uses his wings...
And he begins to fly right along the treetops due south!
Adjalarr looks frantically after him as his form grows harder to see, obscured by the tops of the jungle trees. She speaks the words of another spell and three unerring glowing darts find their way to him—they destroy one of his illusionary doubles, in any case.
"Pursue the demon!" the woman calls out in Common, directing her words mostly to Melethos, Thul, and Shorak. "We may yet bring it down!" She gives some sort of salute-like gesture to the archers, who nod.
• Belarin's second attack hits the nycaloth for 14 force damage (the first misses) • Histra's spell (Chill Touch) vs. nycaloth: 28 (critical hit) / 12 necrotic damage to nycaloth • Nycaloth casts Mirror Image, then moves (60 feet!). • Adjalarr casts Magic Missile. • Mirror Image roll: 18 / Magic Missile destroys one of the duplicates. He now has 2 remaining.
Forgot to mention: Histra's unconsciousness (and then of course casting a new concentration spell) means that the Protection from Energy spell she cast on Belarin earlier is no longer in effect.
Map update later. The fiend is off this map, anyway, and neither Adamant nor Thul (who have turns yet this round) have a good view of him anyway. Adamant, who is furthest, can see vaguely where the demon is, but Thul is too close and his view is entirely obstructed by the trees.
Round 5 continues

Thul tosses his axe and races after the demon.
He quickly scans for any discarded javelins within reach and picks them up as he moves down the jungle path in the direction the demon was heading.

"There! There goes your egg!" Adamant shouts at the frogman. Then he turns to Histra, "We need to move, you must stay with us."
I'm afraid I need to rely on Jeff again... I'm having a day again so this is short. Adamant wants to move as fast as he can after the demon. otoh, he won't leave Histra unprotected. If it looks like the frogman is still intending to attack them, he'll stay with Histra. If the frogman moves off or if Histra is willing to move with him, he'll go as far as he can with her.
Priority: keeping Histra protected. Secondary goal: getting as close to the demon as possible

Thul starts down through the trees, thankful it's not dense jungle yet. He manages to scoop up a single javelin as he runs, and tries to spot where the yugoloth is up in the treetops. Histra shakes her head at Adamant, though she does climb out of the boat at least. "I can't keep up right now. Just go, warforged." Histra isn't going further, so if Adamant won't leave her side, he can't go any further than he is on the map. The frog-men do look hostile, still; they're not just not attacking at the moment.
• Thul has one javelin in hand.
Round 6 begins
21 - tiefling archersThree of the tiefling arches advance down the beach, but rather than sprinting after the fiend, they do something with their bows, spinning them in a mystic pattern. Running at the base of the trees, Thul sees fiery lines in a criss-cross pattern surround the yugoloth and they help reveal his location. He is struggling against some form of net. Thul's best guess is that the glowing arrows the tieflings hit him with have something to do with it. So, too, are the fiend's wings constrained. They flap madly but are snared within the fiery net, and his mass brings him inevitably down to the jungle floor: not with great speed, but with surety. He howls against his bonds. • Tiefling archer's "net" attack: 12 • Tiefling archer's "net" attack: 8 • Tiefling archer's "net" attack: 8 • Nycaloth's Strength (Athletics) check: 20 (success) / He takes 1 point of fire damage and is "grappled" but is not restrained, and it immediately drops him down to the ground. Until he breaks free (or teleports), his speed is 0. The nycaloth is back on the ground level.
I completely forgot: Thul has gained Inspiration from his bold and somewhat self-sacrificing grapple of the vampire from the previous battle. I meant to post it then, and it might have been useful since. In any case, he has it now. This lets him make any one d20 roll of his choice with advantage.
Round 6 continues
21 - Streko 20 - bugbears 19 - Shorak 17 - Kal & Tangat 13 - Melethos 10 - Belarin 7 - Histra 7 - nycaloth 6 - Adjalarr, tiefling swordsmen 5 - Thul 4 - Adamant

With the nycaloth back on this plane and everyone now aware of the presence of the eggs, Kal pushes the egg closer to the frog men, then sets it down softly into the sand. He tucks Skyfang back in among the straps around his leg and draws the slender wand he recently acquired (and which I totally forgot I even had). With determined purpose, he begins to move closer to the nycaloth, preparing to strike. __________________________ I don't even know if I was close enough at the time, but had I had that wand out when the first lightning bolt attack happened, it would have been absorbed into the wand.
Kal will use his free action to sheathe Skyfang and draw the wand. If I can't do both, then he'll just sheathe Skyfang and draw the wand next turn.
Kal will use his action to push the egg 30' closer to the frog men, then set it down.
Kal will move 30' SE towards the nycaloth.

Shorak loads his hand crossbow with his last thunder bolt as he moves towards the nycaloth. As he fires his feet skid on some moss, the bolt flies harmlessly past the demon.
Shorak moves 4 squares SE

Now two thunder-powered magical bolts have sunk to the jungle floor, but both are recoverable.
One bugbear comes ashore and starts hustling past the party, angrily glaring at the frog-men as he runs. The other heads into the woods, javelin ready. The three frog-men at the shore watch as the egg drifts closer to them.
Streko follows behind Kal as Tangat stays several paces ahead. Then, seeing he's just within reach with the spell, Streko casts dispeling magic upon the nycaloth. The illusionary doubles surrounding the fiend vanish.
• Streko moves, then casts Dispel Magic. • The nycaloth's Mirror Image is dispelled.

As Kal floats one egg toward the frog men, the demon flies away with the other egg. Thul sprints after it, armed only with a javelin. Melethos charges after Thul, his heavy splint armor clanging noisily as his booted feet hit the ground. He soon passes the captain and sprints on, his darkvision allowing him to see several feet ahead. He soon spots the nycaloth, lying on the ground, the egg in his hands. He races toward the demon until he stand before it. He expects to see three demons, but-- --but the phantom images are gone! Grinning, Melethos uses his sword to try and dislodge the egg from the nycaloth's grasp. He knows it will not be easy, with the fiend gripping the egg with both hands. But he needs the egg more than he needs to see the demon dead. ___________________________________ Movement: six squares south.
Bonus Dash from Expeditious Retreat: he moves another six squares south. That should put him next to the nycaloth.
Action: Melethos attacks twice, trying to disarm the demon of its egg. The attacks are at disadvantage.
Melethos:1D20+9 → 29(20 + 9)#first disadvantaged attempt to disarm the demon Melethos:1D20+9 → 25(16 + 9)#first disadvantaged attempt to disarm the demon, second roll
Melethos:1D20+9 → 27(18 + 9)#second disadvantaged attempt to disarm the demon Melethos:1D20+9 → 28(19 + 9)#second disadvantaged attempt to disarm the demon, second roll
Jeff, if the first attempt does disarm the nycaloth, can the second attack, first roll, be to hit the demon? If so, either you can roll the damage (d8+5) or let me know and I will and post it.

Melethos chops not at the egg (not knowing how fragile it may be) but at the nycaloth's hands and arms. The fiend, snarling in a fury, tries to whirl away from the tiefling's swings with both arms wrestling the egg, but the flat of Melethos's sword hits him hard, twice, forcing his hands open on reflex. The great egg, easily three a half feet tall and nearly as wide, rolls to the ground with a heavy thud. Then with a backswing, Melethos cuts the nycaloth across one arm, drawing a bloody line in the green flesh. The nycaloth curses at him in his vile native tongue, and it makes Melethos's brain itch. • Nycaloth's Athletics check with advantage: 10, 12 • The nycaloth is disarmed of the egg! • The nycaloth takes 10 slashing damage from Melethos's second attack.
Belarin's up.
Note that it's true that the nycaloth is in dim light, so if you don't have bright light or darkvision, attacks against him have disadvantage. He can been targeted, though.

Belarin rushes in the direction of the downed demon, desperately hoping they can finish him off before he teleports away. As he moves, he flourishes the cloak of his feyweave garment. Four glowing figures of light -- like luminous sprites -- fly out from the cloak and dart toward the nycaloth, surrounding him in a nimbus of light. "Come on, Nicky!" he taunts. "It's no fun if I can't see you bleed!"
If the nycaloth is too busy trying to kill Belarin, the warlock reasons, then that's another few seconds where he's not teleporting away.
_______________________________
Belarin moves his full distance in a southeasterly direction, then he uses his feyweave to cast Dancing Lights. He sends the four balls of light toward the demon, ideally surrounding him.

As small faerie lights surround the yugoloth, the fiend looks around, and at Melethos and the egg that rolled between them. While clearly angry, he keeps his cool. He nods his diabolical head at the tiefling warrior. "Another time, then," he growls.
His body appears to flicker for a moment, and his face turns from calm to furious. It seems to dawn on him that he cannot teleport at present. Then he slashes at the net with his huge double-bladed axe: the fiery read fibers are thick but are no match for the broad and razor-sharp blade. He cuts away enough of it that more than half of it falls away, including one wing. Then he throws a single, vicious chop at Melethos. The blade slices in too fast to bring his shield up, and bites through his split mail near the shoulder, slicing into flesh.
Adjalarr moves before the frog-men, displaying her knives but lowering them. She gestures toward the large egg Kal continues to float toward them. Meanwhile, the two crossbow-holding tieflings simply start running towards the fiend as well.
• Nycaloth is illuminated by Dancing Lights (no disadavntage on attacks against him). • Nycaloth's battle axe attack vs. net: 11 (hit) / 12 slashing damage to net • Net is torn; nycaloth is no longer fully enclosed in it. He is no longer grappled but cannot yet fly (or teleport?). • Nycaloth's second battle axe attack vs. Melethos: 28 (hit) / Melethos takes 15 slashing damage • Tiefling swordsmen move and Dash.

The heavy footfalls of a running warforged warrior sound on the beach...
Still in work hell... but Adamant's turn is simple for now... run as fast as he can...
Move Action: Dash 25' movement so 10 squares south. Standard Action: --
Constant Effects (provided Adamant is conscious):- Aura of Devotion: Adamant and allies within 10' can’t be charmed.
- Aura of Protection: Adamant and allies within 10' gain +3 on saves.
- Aura of Courage: Adamant and allies within 10' can’t be frightened.
- Sentinel: Adjacent creatures provoke opportunity attacks even if they use Disengage.
- Sentinel: If an adjacent enemy makes an attack against a target other than Adamant, he can use his reaction to make a melee attack against that enemy.
Possible Reactions (Addy still only gets one):- Fighting Style Protection: An attack against an adjacent ally suffers disadvantage when Addy has his shield up.
- Sentinel: If Addy hits with an opportunity attack, the target's speed becomes 0 for the rest of the turn.
Thul, Shorak, Kal, Belarin, and Adamant are Blessed: +1d4 to attacks and saves.
DM's Edit: Movement is just movement. The action is to Dash. That's how you get the ol' "double move" in 5E.
So I think what you really want is:
Move: 25' south Action: Dash another 25' south

Thul's axe joins Melethos's sword in drawing out the fiend's blood. He notices...and seems to get angrier with every stroke. Round 7 begins
21 - tiefling archers 21 - Streko 20 - bugbears 19 - Shorak 17 - Kal & Tangat 13 - Melethos 10 - Belarin 7 - Histra 7 - nycaloth 6 - Adjalarr, tiefling swordsmen 5 - Thul 4 - AdamantThe archers hurry towards the nycaloth's position, pausing only once to take more shots with their arrows. Shooting through the trees proves trickier for them, as the trucks provide some cover for the fiend. Arrows whistle through the trees, a couple of them sticking loudly in the curving and many-branching trunks. Of the flurry of eight arrows, only two find their mark. One thuds right into the nycaloth's temple—a terrible wound that would kill a mortal man. Gasping from the sudden pain, the fiend turns his head away....and receives a second arrow (from the same archer) in almost exactly the same place on the other side of his head. Black blood runs in rivulets down both sides of his face: Melethos and Thul are treated to the unexpected site of two well-placed arrows that make the nycaloth look like he's got two new feathery horns. But it's not enough to slay him outright, not by a long shot. The two bugbears on the ground hurry on to join the fight. The bristle with rage, and it seems they are glad to have a new target—for they don't look like the sorts of fellows who will forgive the blatant slaying one of their own, as committed by the frog-men. As Kal and Tangat work their way into the woods, Streko keeps pace with the floating dragon turtle egg. • The tiefling archers move, then use the Attack action. - Tiefling archer's two attacks: 24 (hit) / 22 (hit) / 23 piercing damage to nycaloth - Tiefling archer's two attacks: 8 (miss) / 16 (miss) - Tiefling archer's two attacks: 18 (miss) / 12 (miss) - Tiefling archer's two attacks: 20 (miss due to cover) / 16 (miss) • Streko moves and Dashes. • Bugbears move and Dash.
I'll move the four tiefling archers and two bugbears closer in my next map update.
Round 7 continues

Kal's attention is wholly focused on the egg now lying on the ground next to the nycaloth. With a snap of sparks, Kal disappears. The foliage of the jungle shakes and rattles with his passage, faster than the eye can see, and he suddenly reappears next to the bugbear nearest to the demon. Kal concentrates, reaching out with this power to move the egg towards the beach.
________________________ Kal will use Lightning Shift to move 60' diagonally SE. I believe that puts him just south of the bugbear. He will then use Telekinesis to move the second egg by the nycaloth 30' north towards the beach.

Melethos watches the second egg float away. Then he fixes his attention on the demon. His grin is not pleasant. Dropping his shield, he stretches his arms out, wraps them around the nycaloth, and squeezes. Feeling he may have a hold on it, he stabs down with his sword, his blade penetrating the demon's thick hide. Grunting, he then makes his way north, dragging the demon with him. *_______________________________________ Action: Melethos will use his first action to attempt to grapple the demon.

Shorak's bolt joins the arrows and sticks right into the nycaloth's brow. He bellows with rage, only to look down as telekinetic power lifts the egg away.
Melethos grapples with the fiend then, taking a solid hold of him even though the nycaloth is the size of an ogre. Melethos's muscles strain to contain such a monster, and the fiery net snags at the foliage around them even as it scorches them. But Melethos does manage to drag the fiend toward the beach with his enhanced speed, nearly catching up to the floating egg...which the nycaloth eyes dangerously. But Melethos has has also brought him right up to Adamant.
• Nycaloth's Athletics check vs. Melethos's grapple: 19 • Nycaloth is grappled. • Melethos drags the grappled fiend 4 squares instead of 6 (due to foliage + net). • Nycaloth takes 32 damage from both Melethos and Shorak together.

The nycaloth's thrashing keeps him from getting his twice from Belarin's assault, but then a spectral, skeletal hand flies just past Adamant and grasps the fiend in the throat again.
"I will NOT be bound AGAIN!" the nycaloth bellows. He chops wildly with two hands, first at Melethos who still has a hold of him, then again at the remains of the net. He tries to hew off Melethos's arm, but the tiefling's armor prevents a clean cut. He does, however, get sliced: a spray of warm blood hits him and Thul both. Then the massive axe blade cuts away the last of the fiery net itself, which all but dissolves.
Triumph flashes in the nycaloth's eyes—and those closest to him can sense that his power is no longer quelled by the net. He will be able to fly, or teleport, now. But while he cannot fly yet—not until he can break free of Melethos's grip—he can teleport freely no matter how many hands are on him. It's hard to say how much more the fiend can take; black blood has spattered both Thul and Melethos. Thul, at least, did see the fiend look this battered once before, when he fled from the cloud giantess's hall—having been hammered by her directly.
Adjalarr remains where she is, making sure the frog-man have access to the first egg, but the two tiefling swordsmen, who also carry crossbows, drop their ranged weapons, drawing swords as they close the distance to the fiend.
• Nycaloth takes 14 force damage from Belarin's attack. • Histra's Chill Touch spell attack: 22 (hit) / 12 necrotic damage to nycaloth • Nycaloth's first attack vs. Melethos: 27 (hit) / 13 slashing damage to Melethos • Nycaloth's second attack vs. net: 17 (hit) / 27 slashing damage to net • Net is destroyed. (But the nycaloth is still grappled by Melethos.) • Tiefling swordsmen move and Dash (and are now adjacent to the nycaloth but cannot attack this round).

Thul's axe sinks into the fiend's torso twice; he can feel the blade breaking through ribs and drawing back in a fountain of black blood. Syndra flares with elation as her fire eats at the crunching wounds dealt by Adamant's strikes. For a moment, the nycaloth seems buried beneath their attacks. And then he rears up, face looking to the treetops and star-filled night sky. He coughs, spewing more black blood, and his four green-muscled arms go limp. His axe falls heavily to the underbrush and he drops to his knees, utterly spent. Melethos instinctively lets go of him as his green skin starts to burn. Adamant and Thul are also there to bear witness as the extraplanar creature's body begins some sort of withering effect. The skin and muscle is boiling away and dissolving into a vile fume, but it's clear that the bones beneath are remaining. "Thi...i...not..." the creature snarls defiantly, though it is apparent he is in considerable agony. "...my... end..." Even in this state, his voice is deep and strong. Yet his words dissolve into words of the Abyssal tongue, and it makes everyone who hears him sweat. His fixes white-glowing eyes upon all three warriors: human, tiefling, and warforged. The tiefling swordsmen encircle the dying fiend's body. Swords raised. Thul and Adamant combined did 60+ damage. The nycaloth is resistant to fire, so the fire damage was halved. But even so...
• The nycaloth is dying (at least in physical form).
Dave, the second use of Divine Smite wasn't needed, so I deducted one 2nd-level slot.
We're out of turn-based combat now. Go ahead and just post what would be your actions for the next few moments. Order doesn't matter now.

Streko moves to Melethos's side and hands him one of the powerful healing potions. "Drink this, my friend. It will help." ___________________________________________________________
Streko gives Melethos a Potion of Greater Helaing: 4d4+4 can be restored upon drinking it.

Thul drives his axe through the demon's vertebrae, severing the skull in a spray of bone shards.
"Shut up."
Thul looks at the demonkin and the Warforged, and nods.
Thul then picks up and examines the demon's axe.

Adamant drops to his knees, leans back and spreads his arms wide, still bearing the heavy shield and flaming hammer. If the sun were out, it would look like he was exposing his head, faceplate, and body to its rays.
“Glory and praise to you Dol Arrah and all the Host! Thank you for the Grace of your warming strength that we can see this task done! It has worried long in my heart.”
He returns to a sitting pose and sags a bit into himself, weariness and wonder burn through him.
Nearly burning himself in his relaxation, he remembers Syndra, “Thank you Syndra, you may rest again.”
woohoo!!! That’s a joyful thing! Thanks To all![\color]

Belarin closes to about 15 feet from the demon. "Oh, Nicky," he says, not unkindly. "Listen, the next time you and I meet in Dolurrh - because that will happen - let's barter souls over a friendly game of cards instead of fighting. Deal?"

Shorak nods in satisfaction when the nycaloth falls. He quickly goes in search of his thunder bolts, but keeps alert to what his friends are doing to deal with the eggs and frogmen.
