Hey Jeff - just an FYI that I'll update Belarin's hit points when I post tonight.

Don't forget, some of us are down hit points. Should it get real with the ir'Serells, don't hold back on the healing.

Adamant here is of Cyran make, and grieves daily, as we all do, for the tragedy of those lands." Kal remains silent for a respectful moment before continuing.Very nice touch!

I love this discussion! So tricky!
Jeff: I'm confused on one point. Was Thestra saying that Belarin should hand over the candle NOW? That's what it sounded like, but I wanted to be sure.

Actually, no. They're not asking for the candle immediately, but it's also strongly implied that you're not going to be leaving with it, either (unless there was some special circumstance).

So you mean "leaving this meeting," in which case they ARE expecting Belarin to hand it over now, aren't they?

Ahh, I see. With this basic agreement out of the way, you're not necessarily leaving their "estate" yet. To get their help, you'll be staying and talking/working with some of them. So you can hold onto it for now, while you're still in the vicinity. If you were to suddenly want to go up and out of the necropolis, yeah, you'd not be bringing the candle with you.

Of all good times that we've shared, I leave to you fond memory, And for all the friendship that we've we had I just ask to remember me, And when you sit and stories tell, I'll be with you in Dolurrh; So fill to me the parting glass, Gods bless, and salute your honor. Mike, was that in Elven or Common?

Mike, was that in Elven or Common? Common. Given the beliefs of the elves of Aerenal, I don't think they have too many songs about Dolurrh. I like to imagine it's a song that Syrdan heard in a tavern somewhere.

Belarin looks at Histra. "I'll ask again once we're out of this place. As for the candle... fine. Thestra can have it now - she's already agreed to the rest, and I agree it would do more harm than good if I brought it into Dolurrh. And we need to know whatever she heard." Pause. "We'll talk later." Meaning you wish to proceed directly to the Dolurrh attempt?

No, the "we'll talk" was referring to Belarin and Histra. Belarin will proceed to give the candle to Thestra - I didn't want to jump the gun without giving the others a chance to weigh in.

Gotcha. So I'll wait.
But essentially the choices are:
— Go talk about the Candle, etc. — Look into the Dolurrh option (which Histra is saying is a bad idea), which means (at least for now) giving up the Candle sooner. — Something else you'd like to try.

On second thought, let's not go to Dolurrh. 'Tis a silly place.

Jeff, after actually re-reading the posts, I agree that there's no real way to describe this WITHOUT mentioning the Kraken, so I've revised the post. However, he still leaves out the Cyran connection for the moment. His aim is not to deceive, but to make Thestra work for it. ;-) He'll happily tell her - if she asks.

"Rinti will not travel with us," Kal says adamantly, "should we choose to go there." He looks at the girl and says, "I do not doubt your bravery, but that is no place for you." "Adamantly"! Ha!
