Dave, sorry, my map update hasn't happened yet. But both the knight-wraith and Belarin have moved southward, well into the dim light area and out of Aamant's brighter light. So now the wraith-knight is in dim light. Since Shorak doesn't have darkvision, he's disadvantaged on attacks against his target. Can you roll a second attack to account for that?

Second roll made and post updated. Fortunately, only 1 digit difference. Still a hit, Yay!

The knight-wraith, though deep in shadows, takes another hit from Shorak’s weapon. His head is thrown back under the force of the blow, and the ringing metal precedes the weapon’s cycle back into Shorak’s hand.
Just then, Streko feels his body roughly handled, and his ribs hurt under the strain—as if he’s being gripped by something inhuman, and something unsen.
Streko takes 6 bludgeoning damage.
12 = Streko 9 = Adamant 8 = hooded one 4 = Kal & Tangat

Streko feels the pressure against his rib cage and suspects the Queen Spider's grip on Condign is tightening, which leads me to believe she is moving. "Damnable undead spiders, goblins, halflings, emissaries..."
He focuses his attention on the area of darkness he saw the Wraith move into and can still vaguely make out a deeper darkness silhouetting the cave wall. Or maybe it's just his eyes deceiving him. He cannot be sure. He begins to whisper softly while casting a simple cantrip. Ominous whispers begin to emanate from the darkness around the wraith. He hopes it will be yet another distraction from what is to come.

Adamant keeps the ghoul's attention with practiced swings. He calls back to Kal, "We need to join the rest of our friends. Go around," the warforged waves his shield arm to the east, "and link back up... I will finish entertaining this creature." Adamant slides east and south to keep the ghoul away from Kal.
Adamant move 1SE and 1S to stand south of the ghoul between it and the bulk of the party. Hopefully Kal understands to move around and then south.
So two attacks against the ghoul dlw32:1D20+7 → 10(3 + 7)#First attack dlw32:1D20+7 → 9(2 + 7)#second attack
I was going to say that if the ghoul drops, Adamant will move since in 5e they have the split move thing... which deserves great praise. My rolls however do not deserve praise...
Reminders: * From Fighting Style Protection: cause disadvantage on attacks against my friends who are adjacent. Right now only Kal * From Aura of Protection: Friendlies w/i 10 feet add my CHA (+3) to saves. Right now only Kal and Tangat. * From Sentinel: I do Op Attacks even if the creature disenages; If I hit with an Op Attack, the target's speed drops to 0; if a target w/i 5' makes an attack against anyone but me, I can counter-attack.

The ghoul before Adamant easily evades him this time. Giving him a scornful glance, it then whirls to regard Kal, who looks like an easier foe, and a more fleshy one, too. The cloaked woman lets out a string of arcane syllables, and though it sounds beyond exhausted, the inflection is not only feminine, but those closest to her (namely, Adamant and Streko) feel sure it is Histra after all. She points at both the remaining ghoul and the knightly figure. The wraith goes rigid for a moment, then appears to throw off the spell, while the ghoul suddenly goes perfectly still, almost as though it had been turned into a statue. Adamant and Kal aren't sure how long it will last, but they both see that the ghoul is suddenly vulnerable: for striking down, or perhaps grabbing. Just then another ghoul bursts through the wall of fire behind Kal: a heavyset woman once, possibly even a half-orc. Even as flames consume her, she croaks a gutteral scream of rage...then drops to the ground as the fire only a few paces away from Kal. She lies unmoving as the flames continue to burn her.
● Ghoul's disadvantaged Wisdom saving throw: 1, 14 (failure) / ghoul is paralyzed: attacks have advantage against, it fails all Str and Dex saving throws, etc. ● Knight-wraith's disadvantaged Wisdom saving throw: 20, 25 (success) ● New ghoul takes 28 points of fire damage and is slain.

Kal shakes his head at Adamant, even as he moves to put the warforged between him and the ghoul. "I need..." he says, trailing off. "I need to keep that wall up," he says, a bit of strain in his voice. "It's the only thing keeping us from getting overwhelmed. And I'm not sure how much longer I can do it." He grins. "Don't look so worried, Adamant." Kal chuckles at the thought of a warforged looking worried. "You deal with that," he nods towards the ghoul, "and I'll see what I can do about him." Kal's eyes narrow as he lets loose with a bolt of fire aimed at the emissary.

The knight-wraith half turns, and Kal's fiery spell glances off one armored shoulder, doing little harm.
Sorry for the confusion. That last ghoul's actions was not part of the "local" ghouls on this side of the wall.
Round 6:
23 = Belarin 21 = ghouls 19 = Emissary 14 = Shorak 12 = Streko 9 = Adamant 8 = hooded one 4 = Kal & Tangat

New, deep wounds make Belarin struggle to keep his balance – and his resolve. And his pact dagger lies just out reach.
“You’ve nearly won, Huckleberry,” he says through the pain. “My life is worthless. But you’ll still fail.” Either not recognizing or not caring about the risk he’s taking, Belarin dashes away from the Emissary and past Shorak, stopping just a few feet from the edge of the pit – now only visible as a darker shade of blackness. Turning back to the Emissary, he withdraws a wand from his cloak and again releases the fey motes of light to illuminate the area around them. “You failed in life – that’s why you’re the lapdog of a spoiled child,” he says. He then raises his voice to a shout. “Come! Preach again about your honor, dead man.”
______________________________
Belarin moves 30 feet due south. The movement will draw an attack from the Emissary, no doubt. He pulls out the wand of enfeeblement as a free action. He then activates the dancing lights of his feyweave. One mote will be just north of the bridge’s start, another will be adjacent to the Emissary’s current spot (1 square to his East), and the two motes strung out between them at 10-foot intervals, if that makes sense.

The ghoul beside Admant is still unable to move. Its eyes are wild, and they regard him with hate. Meanwhile, across the field of battle, the small halfling ghoul, still clinging to the wall, sees a spider rearing up along the wall before her so she begins to crawl straight up the side of the cliff. As Belarin turns from him, the knight-wraith lashes out with his sword. The tip slices into Belarin’s back, spilling more blood and darkening his world even more! Despite the pain, he utilizes his fey garments and motes of light create pinpricks of light in the gloom between the pit and the undead creature. The knight-wraith then strides directly through these lights and once again looms over Belarin. Instead of attempting to cut the warlock in half, he simply reaches out with his other arm and grabs him by the arm. Belarin tries to pull away but finds the creature’s grip to be like iron…and deathy-cold ice. It feels like frost forming in his veins beneath the gauntleted fingers of the creature. Then, without hesitation, the knightly figure strikes Belarin in the temple with the pommel of his greatsword. Belarin’s world goes utterly dark, and very, very cold. His body falls limp in the arms of Branash’s “emissary.” “Hinder me not,” the knightly says to Shorak, who saw his friend’s fate firsthand. “And I will spare the rest of you. I have what I came for.” The wand Belarin had in hand drops to the ground as Belarin's body is slung over the shoulder. Shorak does spy the monstrous form of the mother spider rising up toward the top of the pit—and Condign is still gripped in her jaws!
● Ghoul's saving throw to shrug off being paralyzed: 9 (Failure) (Ignore that part of the map: the ghoul is still next to Adamant, 2 spaces up.) → Adamant’s opportunity attack: 13 (hit) / 8 bludgeoning damage ● Ghoul is slain. ● Knight-wraith’s opp attack vs. Belarin: 25 (hit) / 15 slashing damage ● Knight-wraith’s Strength (Athletics) check of 10, vs. Belarin’s Dexterity (Acrobatics) check of 9 / Belarin is grappled and he takes 6 points of necrotic damage ● Knight-wraith’s second attack vs. Belarin: 23 (hit) / 5 bludgeoning damage to Belarin ● Belarin is dying.
Brian, go ahead and roll Initiative for Condign, in case he's free to act. It wouldn't be until next round.

Seeing the spider climbing towards them and the limp form of Belarin in the wraith's grasp, Shorak is at a loss as to what to do. Especially with there being so little light to see by. He slips away from the undead creature and the pit, moving back towards Streko, Adamant and Kal. "Adamant! We need you and your light! Belarin is badly injured and unconscious!" He yells as he readies his boomerang, in hopes that Adamant can move closer and shed more light on his intended target, the wraith.
Shorak uses cunning action to disengage from the wraith and moves 30' north. Readies an attack on the wraith, to be carried out at the end of Adamants turn. Light or no light.

"I am coming!" Adamant replies to Shorak, "Streko! Help Belarin!" I can talk out of turn, right? In these Presidential Debates if you get mentioned you get 30 seconds to respond, this is the same right? If not, sorry.
Adamant won't be able to get to Belarin this round, but doesn't Streko have Healing Word? If we could at least get Belarin on his feet and moving away from the Emissary that wouldn't be bad.

Streko GROWLS!!
He removes the clasp holding his focus, the black/white domino. He places the domino into right hand and the cord that has held it so well and for so long into his left.
"OLLADRA, ASSIST ME!!" He reaches out with both hands pointed to the Wraith, as if in prayer, then flings them outward. He manages to hold onto his domino, but he lets the cord fly forward as Olladra's spell consumes it, then circles the wraith in spiraling strings of brightness.
"I am Belarin Melizia's friend. I am a Priest of Olladra and I am a Healer of House Jorasco.
"I tire of your continued presence.
"BEGONE FROM THIS PLACE!!
"I BANISH YOU FROM THIS REALM!
" BE. GONE!" ________________________________________________________

The wraith-knight faces Streko squarely as the cleric speaks his spell, the white of the creature's eyes seeming to dim again. But then they brighten, and the tall figure remains where he is standing, Belarin's blood-dripping body still slung over one shoulder.
"Move aside, and live," he says one more time.

As Adamant pounds onto the scene, his light reveals the ghastly palor of Belarin, who hangs limply over the knight-wraith's shoulder. Blood drips freely down from his back, pooling on the ground. Shorak's boomerang nearly connects with the knightly figure, but the helmed head ducks just in time to avoid it. The hooded woman comes forth from the gap in the wall, and into Adamant's light, and now Streko, Shorak, and Adamant can see that it is indeed Histra. But something is wrong with her. Her skin, what little they can glimpse of her face and hands, is more than just pale. It's almost...decayed. "You will NOT SLAY HIM, nor will BRANASH!" the necromancer screams with a finger pointed at the knight-wraith. Histra's voice sounds terrible, hoarse, and hideous. Then she speaks words of magic and her pointing finger shifts ever so slightly to Belarin's dying body instead. In a surprising flurry of spraying blood, dim green energies, and fluttering wings, the limp body of Belarin seems to roll forceably off of the knight-wraith's shoulder, who struggles in vain to maintain his grip with one arm. The warlock's body suddenly gains mass, and size, as it falls toward the ground, but a sudden burst of gray- and brown-feathered wings flips him upright and he lands upon the ground with huge, black-taloned feet. And the human, no longer human, utters a loud if raspy croak of surprise. There is no trace of injury on the giant, pony-sized vulture that he has become! The knight-wraith looks from Histra to the vulture. "Damnable wizards," he says like a curse. Remember, Shorak's got Cunning Action. You can also dash, disenge, or hide on every turn. Any interest?
● Histra casts Polymorph on Belarin. (Although Belarin is unconscious, I'm ruling that he is a willing target so he doesn't have to risk a failed saving throw with the spell. This spell provides an interesting workaround for wizard types who don't have healing magic.) ● Belarin is transformed into a giant vulture. He has the beast's full hit points (22) and an AC of 10, so he's still quite vulnerable to the likes of the knight-wraith. But he's not dying anymore, and is fully conscious. Note that when the spell ends, or if his vulture hit points are brought to 0, he will return to his previous state as a human warlock: 0 hp and dying.

With a throaty squawk that sounds more like a cackle, the vulture that once was Belarin flaps its wings and flies – quickly if erratically – away from the Emissary. It lands behind Adamant, and its head swivels on the long neck to look at the ghoulishly transformed....
The vulture cocks its head to one side, as though trying to puzzle something out.

Kal's fiery attack misses the knight-wraith. A large spider scuttles up from the fissure, plucks the last ghoul from the wall and then springs backwards, dropping out of sight. There is only a tiny shriek from the undead halfling before they both vanish. Erupting like many-legged nightmares, three more large spiders emerge from the pit and scuttle up along the wall, making room for the mother, whose enormity once again drives a spike of revulsion inside each person's stomach. Legs splayed across the fissure, her abdomen rises above the bridge, and with her head risen, so does Condign come surging into view—Adamant's light bathes the tiefling in its light and he squints from the unexpected illumination. He doesn't quite know what to make of the oversized and awkwardly fluttering vulture that drops down from the air behind Adamant and Shorak. A few large brown feathers drift through the air. His eyes quickly take in the knight-wraith, and the hooded shape of Histra a short distance further back. And in the distance, some hundred feet or more down the dark passage, Condign can see a curtain of fire; silhouetted against it is Kal and Tangat, and several burnt figures on the ground.
Condign can see his friends have been busy flushing out friends and foes. Meanwhile, his friends can see he is once again held in the mother spider's glistening jaws near the north side of the pit. But his body is grasped over open air, as if in lingering threat. The mother chirps with her hideous mouthy appendages. Telepathically, you all hear: This all?! Fewer of the pale dead than your own? You think little of red man.Condign's body is jerked back and forth. He still holds his new mace and shield, but is fully dependent on the spider to hold him aloft at the moment. Meanwhile, Streko feels his sides squishes uncomfortably. Looking at the massive she-spider, he can tell that it's Condign's predicament that is somehow impacting him. It's difficult to gauge the mother's many-eyed gaze, but you imagine she can at least see the knight-wraith as well, who stands tall amidst the fray and does not run from you like the ghouls had. She also looms massively over the buzzard-like Belarin in scrutiny. Map update to come: main thing is Kal's/Tangat's southward move, the ghoul over the pit is now gone, and carrion-eating Belarin is now occupying the four squares above Shorak and Adamant.
Round 7: (reminder: Kal's Wall of Fire will persist only through round 10)
23 = Belarin 21 = ghouls 19 = Emissary 14 = Shorak & Condign (either order is fine) 12 = Streko 9 = Adamant 8 = hooded one 4 = Kal & Tangat
In general, guys: I'm fine with characters saying a few short words even when it's not their turn in combat, as long as it's not all the time and not whole sentences. Just a few clipped remarks from time to time to is totally fine.

Condign grits his teeth as the monstrous spider shakes him in anger. He has only moments to take in what has happened since his capture. Adamant's light shines brighter than the sun, and a wall of fire blazes at the far end of what looks like a street. A vulture flaps helplessly on the ground. He has no time to wonder why a bird is living in the land of the dead. He can see everyone--even Histra, gods help her. What happened to Histra? Everyone, that is, except Belerin. His fey-addled but big-hearted friend is missing. The tiefling's blood turns to molten fury. If the spider's selfish demands caused Belarin's death.... Then his eyes fix on the tall, robed figure. He has seen it before, at the lighthouse. Branash's Emissary. "The robed one," he shouts at the spider. "Like pale dead, only bigger. Better. Food for days!" _____________________________________________________________ Hey, guys. It's nice to be back. Jeff gave me the okay to post Big Red's reaction and a short statement out of sequence.

Branash’s “emissary” watches the Belarin-vulture flap away from him; he swivels around, ignoring the spiders altogether, and begins to stride after the polymorphed warlock. He pauses only for a moment, leveling a white-eyed look at Histra, but either cannot or won’t engage her directly. Instead the helmed figure advances on Adamant. “Very well,” he intones—probably directing these words at Belarin. “I shall collect you when your friends have fallen.” Adamant is more than ready for him. When the creature’s massive greatsword comes slashing down, the warforged blocks it evenly with his shield. But he doesn’t anticipate the ferocity of the warrior’s second swing, which chops down, then changes angles, and slashes him through the stomach. The chilling cold that radiates from his enemy’s blade is deeper still. ● Knight-wraith’s first attack vs. Adamant: 10 (miss) ● Knight-wrath’s second attack vs. Adamant: 22 (hit) / 7 slashing damage and 13 necrotic damage to Adamant
Again, map update later: the wraith-knight is now adjacent to Adamant and Shorak.
14 = Shorak & Condign (either order is fine) 12 = Streko 9 = Adamant 8 = hooded one 4 = Kal & Tangat
