I was wondering if you picked a distant shark and wounded it if the blood might attract the others over there instead of over here. btw, Jeff, I love Adamant's little red speedo in that bubble pic.

True enough. A shark may be a shark, but they're not all the same. There are different species of shark in Eberron than on Earth. The ones that are man-sized are kind of like small great whites, but the big one on the battle map could eat Jaws for breakfast. ;D

Yeah, but why attack first? Maybe we'll get luck and if we start swimming up, we'll get out before they attack. Worst case scenario, they attack, and we hit a distant one and hopefully get them to go after that one. If they attack, we can also just sink the bubble back down and fight them from dry land. I imagine it would be hard for them to get to us when we're not in the water.

Too late! Honestly, I don't think we'd have a chance of getting all the way to the surface without the sharks chomping on our kicking legs like chicken wings. We'd be bleeding, moving targets -- the kind that sharks like best. And I wouldn't be surprised if Sharkosaurus out there has a bite-grab-pull attack, in which case even one successful attack could end up with one of us outside the bubble and surrounded by sharks.

I really don't think the bubble's going to be any real protection. Sharks can stick their snouts out of the water to grab a snack. Maybe if you could expand the bubble so it's, say, 50' in diameter then Shark-osaurus might be thwarted. I don't think it's going to have any problem ducking in a square or two...
I'm sort of still hoping not to find out though...

I think bloodying the waters is our best bet. I think just attacking the medium sized sharks should distract the big guy enough for us to put some distance between them and us, so we can more safely attempt to swim up.

Okay, so I guess that's decided. Kal is going to wait and see what the sharks do in reaction to the other's attacks. If they go for the bait (heh), he's going to start moving the bubble up. Otherwise, he's going to attack. I'm in NYC all day today, so I probably won't be able to post again until tonight.

Jeff, a quick correction to the last round of battle. Kal's attack was against Shark #1, not #2.

Jeff, a quick correction to the last round of battle. Kal's attack was against Shark #1, not #2. Somehow I knew that, and accounted for it that way. Just didn't write that way. Fixed.

What do you think, guys? Should we make a break for it and hope biggie doesn't attack? Or should we gang up on him?

Make a break for it. The longer we stay down here, the greater the risk of more problems turning up. If we all do a move action to swim as the bubble rises, and Total Defense as a standard action, we've got a better chance of holding off Megashark.

I'm up for trying to escape or we could head back to where we fought the 4 armed Sahuagin. Maybe the dead bodies would be of more interest to monster shark as an easy meal and make our upward swim less of a danger. It's a thought. Either way let's get out of here.

Not a bad idea, Dave, but at this point, I'm not sure any of our characters could navigate their way back to that spot without Hras'Ka's guidance. Going up still seems the best option.

Can Kal use Total Defense, or is moving the bubble a minor action? If he can use it, he will. See the Actions in Combat link in my signature? The answer is there. But right now we're technically out of combat, so no worries on that.

Yeah, I should have specified that I meant "avatar" in the classical sense, not in the Forgotten Realms "Hey, I just saw Ilmater and Loviatar making out in the tavern!" sense.

Histra stands off to the side, obviously a little curious, too, but she seems more keen to be around Belarin and his...candle. Sometimes a candle is just a candle Jeff!

I guess I didn't make it clear that Adamant intended to read the scroll aloud... ah well.

Hmm, yeah, that intent wasn't clear to me. But I figured Adamant would have read it silently first before passing it (or reading it aloud) to others.
