Belarin laughs, but it's uncertain to anyone whether his delight comes watching his victim plummet to its death or being winked at by his "twin" ... or both. He dances back toward Charis' position, his form still blurred by shadows. "We meet at the most charming places, my lady," he says quickly before focusing his baleful gaze upon the enemy warforged battling Mist. He points the dagger at it and says, "Your ship wreaks havoc stem to stern / I'll see you watch with eyes that burn!" That curse is quickly followed by a flash of energy from his eyes. _________________ OOC: Ah, my kingdom for an invoker or druid right now...!
Belarin will focus on Warforged #4 unless Mist kills it first or unless Warforged #7 scoots past #4 and get onto the deck. If that happens, #7 will get it.
Move action: Move back 3 squares to be next to Charis. Minor action: Use Warlock's Curse on either #4 or #7 (as described above). Standard action: Attack with witchfire. Witchfire attack (1d20+5=7) Ack, another 2 on a d20! Witchfire damage, plus Warlock's Curse (2d6+5=11, 1d6=6)
Using an Action Point for a second attack, using eyebite: Eyebite attack (1d20+5=7) -- OK, that's 3 consecutive d20 attacks that ended with a roll of 2. Does that seem odd? Eyebite damage, plus Warlock's Curse (1d6+5=11, 1d6=1) Both damage rolls still include the +1 from the Empowering Shadows feat, not that it matters since they're misses.

Grafth draws his handaxe, as well as a slender dagger. The markings on his weapon of choice remind him that some undefined change has been affected in the metal. "We'll soon see what the Mistress has bestowed upon me." As he waits, prepared for battle, he shouts toward the wheelhouse, "Ralsor, move us away! See if we can't shake some of them off!" Grafth would use Disruptive Strike if attacked (1d20+6=12). Though... possibly with little effect. I like my other rolls better

Streko whips his sickle around and attacks the nearest warforged, simuaneously calling out Olladra's name, followed quickly by Belarin's!! ____________________________________________________ Streko casts Righteous Brand - Belarin gains +1 on his next attack, which hopefully isn't a 3... invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2172425/ I believe that the number should move up to 18, as the sickle grants a +4, not a +3...and with Lever's +2...well...that's 12 + 6 = 18. Damage roll = invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2172432/ Let me know if I did this right...

Charis and Belarin cross paths as she moves forward to the rail with her rapier drawn. She will strike at Warforged #4, using a dizzying flurry of blows to knock the 'forged off the strand and send him to the depths of Khyber. OOC: Get it? Depths of Khyber? I slay me. ;D
Positioning Strike: 1d20=8
Ugh! I think I have a +5, so it'd be 13? I can't get to my google character sheet for some reason.

Round 3
24 = Charis (positioning strike) 20 = Warforged 19 = Grafth (disruptive strike) 16 = Aundairian 14 = Kal (reaping strike) 14 = Streko (righteous brand) 13 = Allies [Ralsor, Mist, Amal, etc.] 11 = Belarin (witch fire & eyebite) 5 = red-skinned creature ________Charis glides nimbly around her allies and presses toward the rail, her rapier leading. She slides into place beside Mist, and in order to reach her chosen enemy, she is forced to climb halfway up the railing of the Thunderhead. Seeming to have a bad time of it, Charis goads the warforged (#4) into attacking her. When it lunges at her, she shifts her body, raises one leg, and kicks it backward, at the same time skewering its shoulder with her narrow blade. The warforged pinwheels its free arm as it stumbled backward, toward the open sky. At the last minute, it catches itself on the railing, dangling out over the fatal drop. The fibrous bundles of its arm pulse as the construct hauls itself back up from the edge, over the rail, and down toward Charis. With sheer force and swinging weapon, it forces her to retreat a few steps or be cut. The rest of the warforged press in, moving into place upon the rail of the Thunderhead or even its deck. Another warforged (#7) steps into place and looms above Belarin. Its crystalline gaze sweeps over him—seeming to note that there's someone there within the strangely gathered shadows—but it ignores him for the moment, turning its attention upon Mist, the unusually-shaped black-plated warforged. When it swings its pick at her, she twists her body, nimbly dodging the vicious blow. Another warforged (#6)—the last to reach the edge of the ship—throws its strength into an attack, and catches Amal on the arm. The Blademark grimaces at the blow but holds his place. A warforged (#5) now stands squarely beside Grafth and Kal. It swivels its head between them, as if to determine which is the greater threat. Out of the corner of his eye, Grafth can see that the warforged that just attacked Amal pivots, so both now face Grafth. They're hemming him in, working in coordination like soldiers. But when the first warforged (#5) strikes at him, the shifter beats him to it, swiping with his handaxe dangerously close to the warforged's head. Although Grafth's attack misses, it throws the construct off balance, and neither combatant lands a blow. The warforged nearest the Aundairian (#2) stops when it reaches the railing and takes aim with its crossbow-arm. At the last moment, Kal realizes he's the target, pivots where he stands, and the bolt clicks harmlessly off the pauldron of his armor, leaving only a slight bruise. The furthermost warforged (#1) at last steps onto the railing area of the Phoenix and sweeps its war pick at the horned stranger. The weapon slides across the man's shield but catches it tip in the breast of his chainmail, puncturing just enough to draw blood. The caped Aundairian steps back away from the warforged nearest him, eyeing the crossbow-warforged (#2) that took aim at Kal. He speaks an arcane phrase, snarling the words angrily, and holds out his hand as if threatening to strangle the enemy. In response, a large ghostly hand appears before him, surges out toward the warforged. The construct swings away at the disembodied hand, shaking it out of existence. Kal, like Grafth, finds two warforged close at hand, but it doesn't deter him. He brings his sharash scything in at the nearest (#5). Although his aim is perfect, the warforged turns its body, allowing the weapon to do little but scrape across composite plating and some of its woody muscles. Streko skips past Lever, whipping out his sickle and following Kal's attack against the same warforged. His aim, too, is excellent, and the glowing light from Lever's infusion seems to guide him toward his target, but the warforged is a veteran warrior, stepping just out of reach at the last moment. Miss! Assessing the battlefield, Mist pivots and slices her scimitar at the warforged to her left (#4), but the blow it futile, clattering off its body armor harmlessly. Amal, realizing he's flanked now by two of the constructs, focuses on one of them (#4), tearing away wood and the alchemical solution that serves as the creature's blood. The false, red-cloaked Belarin steps into place where the real Belarin vacates, howling with laughter as he does. Raising up the dagger in his hand, a narrow tongue of red lightning gathers into the blade from the skin. He makes no attack, but points it at the warforged Amal and Mist have attacked. The warforged glares at the new threat, readying itself. When Belarin unleashes his spell, small trace of white fire seem to drift like smoke from the warforged's body (#4), but it has no effect. His second spell seems to do not even that. Streko turns as well, keeping his back to the wounded and his attention on the oncoming attacks. The wand-wielding warforged (#8) is now coming across the strands. The red-skinned stranger who stands at the fore of the Phoenix snarls his fury at the warforged (#1) who just struck him. He draws back his sword and sweeps it into a fierce blow. Although the blade strikes the warforged directly in its composite plating, the blow is hard, and loud, ringing across the sky with an almost preternatural quality. Tongues of fire seem to roil out from the stranger's blade, and the sheer savagery of the attack throws the warforged off balance— Damaged, and with some of its wooden musculature burning, the construct falls off away from the ship. It reaches out to grasp at the Thunderhead as it falls, but its metal fingers scrape uselessly. The warforged plummets into the sky like a giant lead weight. At that moment, a strong wind surges across the battlefield, whipping hair and cloaks about. "Hold on!" Ralsor cries out. The Thunderhead begins to move, pulling away from the White Phoenix and straining the web strands that bind it to the Dissolution. At that moment, the horned stranger turns, sees his peril, and leaps down to the fore of the Thunderhead. He lands heavily, sending vibrations through the wood, but comes up standing just between two warforged. He looks eager for more fighting. __________________ Updated map.

Kal glares at the warforged in front of him, then looks quickly past the construct's shoulder. He plants his feet, then charges forward, trying to push his opponent over the edge of the ship.
____________ What the hell? I've never tried a Bull Rush before, and it might just be crazy enough to work!

"Khyber's breath!!" Streko instinctively aims his left fist at Warforged #6 and calls out Olladra's name. "You are mine," Grafth says, pointing his dagger at the enemy in front of him. He spins low, striking out at the warforged with the axe in his other hand, aiming for his fibrous midsection. The shifter then lithely darts back past Streko, toward the horned figure.

Belarin lurches slightly as the ship begins to move away from the Phoenix. He quickly steadies himself, glares at the warforged that Streko has indicated, and then he dances back several steps and unleashes a red-and-silver blast at the warforged advancing toward Charis. "Dumb brute who's reached his winter / It's time for you to crack and splinter!" ___________________ Minor action: Place Warlock's Curse on Warforged #6. Move action: Move 3 squares to be in a spot 3 squares directly behind Charis. Shadow walk is still in effect. Standard action: Attack Warforged #4 with eldritch blast, using the Pact Dagger and the +1 bonus from Streko's spell. Eldritch blast attack (1d20+6=15) Eldritch blast damage, plus Warlock's Curse (1d10+5=13, 1d6=1) = 14, incl. bonus from dagger and Empowering Shadows.
Jeff: Warforged #4 and #6 are cursed. If either drops to 0 hit points, Belarin will teleport on top of the forecastle.

Charis advances again, the steely tip of her rapier dancing. She darts past the warforged (#4), as if trying to make her way to the railing and the strand behind it. At the last moment, she twists nimbly and stabs at the construct, forcing him backward and (hopefully) over the rail. Trick Strike (attack roll and damage, if applicable): 1d20+3=7, 1d8+4=8
If Trick Strike is used up for the day, Charis will attack normally.

Round 4
24 = Charis (trick strike) 20 = Warforged 19 = Grafth (hit & run) 16 = Aundairian 14 = Kal (bull rush) / Tangat (aid another) 14 = Streko (daunting light) 13 = Allies 11 = Belarin (eldritch blast) 5 = red-skinned creature ________Although she moves quickly, Charis is unable to maneuver her opponent against the rail or, indeed, even score a substantial wound. With most of the warforged now upon the deck of the Thunderhead, you find that they move with disturbing coordination. Military picks are raised and lowered with a machinelike precision as they turn in concert toward their chosen targets. Two of them (#2 and #5) swing their weapons against the horned stranger. Despite his armor and shield, the cruel tips of both weapons find openings in his defenses and strike two solid wounds. The red-skinned man snarls his defiance, but it's clear he's hurting. The warforged (#6) in front of Grafth turns on him with a killing strike, but the shifter's new hide armor accepts the blow and halts the blade before it reaches flesh. The one facing Charis (#4) actually issues a hollow laugh against her as it swings its weapon. The nimble woman ducks the heavy blow, but on the construct's backswing, the military pick's tip catches her at the shoulder, biting into flesh and nearly spinning her around. She bites back a scream, and a small amount of blood spatters onto Mist. The next warforged (#7) looks between Mist and the illusionary double of Belarin, taking a split second to decide. But when the false Belarin makes a lewd gesture and a flourish of green electricity, the warforged throws its all into an attack against him. When the military pick swipes clean through the illusion, the false Belarin laughs and fades away. Grafth plants his handaxe firmly into his opponent's woody guts then yanks it free, tearing a ghastly wound. Then the shifter slips away, denying his enemy immediate pursuit. The Aundairian looks at the horned man grimly, then steps into position just behind one of the warforged (#2). He draws his sword as he moves, flashing it repeatedly at the construct, as much to draw its attention as to attack it. His blade scores a hit, clattering against its head and sending a few splinters flying off its neck. Kal tests his luck, strength, and stamina by running at the six-and-a-half-foot figure of metal and wood in front of him (#5). At the same moment, Tangat jumps through the space that Grafth just left and, as if reading his master's mind, throws his weight behind the construct's legs. Kal barrels into the much heavier and stronger warforged, but it's enough to throw it off balance. The construct hits the railing and grabs at it, but Kal keeps pushing, urged on by Tangat's frantic barking. The railing cracks, giving way, and then the warforged tumbles out into the open sky with a hollow shout. Kal, standing at the broken rail, finds himself staring at the wand-wielding warforged who even now is moving across the strange toward him. The warforged points the wand at him in challenge. Streko, with his intended foe now dropping toward the earth at an accelerating rate, turns his attention to the next likely candidate (warforged #4). A column of burning light descends from above, but the warforged sees it coming and throws its back against the rail. The radiant magic washes harmlessly away. Your allies renew their attacks, bolstered by the fall of another warforged. Mist's scimitar fails to puncture her enemy's armor, but Amal's blade finds purchase. More fibers and alchemical "blood" spill to the deck. Belarin slides into place behind Charis?and out of the corner of her eye, the woman can see shadows clinging unnaturally to her warlock companion?and levies his attack against Amal's opponent, which seems to be the only warforged truly wounded looking. Silver-and-red fire blazes across its body, burning away wood and scorching its plating. The warforged sways under the assault, just barely on its feet. Rage seems to radiate from the horned stranger like a living thing. With one warforged having been removed by Kal, he turns for one brief moment and scans the battlefield as if assessing the advantages and disadvantages. He looks down to where Kal stands on the main deck and nods with approval. "Let us make these creatures regret their decision to challenge us!" he says, flashing Kal a frightening grin?made all the grislier for the creature's several oozing wounds. Then he whirls around to face the next warforged (#2), who stands pinioned between the Aundairian himself. The stranger shouts a battle cry in a language you don't recognize, drawing everyone's attention, and punches his longsword through the construct's abdomen. As he draws the weapon out again and readies himself, bleeding openly, for another attack, you feel a sudden measure of resolve. Is this the turn of the tide? Even as you wonder at this stranger, you feel the Thunderhead continue to turn and pull away. Yet now the Dissolution begins to turn, too, trying to keep pace. The weblike strands begin to stretch and sway as they're strained between the two ships, but they hold. And the massive harpoon has been nearly retracted... __________________ Updated map.

A reminder: temporary hit points work like a buffer. Damage has to eat through those temporary hit points before they affect your regular hit points, and they last for the rest of the battle or until they're used up.
Marked = if you're marked by an enemy, you suffer a -2 penalty if you don't make your next attack against the one who did the marking. The stranger and Charis were both marked by different warforged this round, but note that the stranger didn't suffer the penalty since he attacked a warforged who marked him. (Follow that?)
Kal, that bull rush would have been a crapshoot. Without Tangat the Wonder Dog, no way that would have worked.
Ken, I've denoted the cursed ones with a little green "C."
Josh, warforged #6 is still designed as Grafth's quarry. I've denoted this with a little red "Q."
Marcy, were you able to see your character sheet? I'd like to troubleshoot that. And here's a tip: if Charis flanks an enemy (with an enemy between her and one ally), she gets combat advantage (+2 on attacks) and can add sneak attack damage.

HA! I can't believe that worked!!!!
Kal grins as wide as he ever has, watching the warforged plummet. His mind already begins to spin the tale he will tell to others in House Deneith, and wondering if his brothers ever vanquished a foe quite so handily.
Looking up, Kal sees the challenge issued by the wand-wielding warforged, and issues one of his own. Switching his sharrash to his left hand, he draws out Skyfang with the other and focuses his wrath on the construct. A ball of electricity forms at the tip of the dagger's blade and then shoots towards the warforged.
_________________ Assuming warforged #8 is in range by Kal's turn, he will use Lightning Orb on it, using Skyfang as an implement.
EDIT: If necessary, Kal will take a 5' step away from warforged #6 to avoid the Attack of Opportunity.
As with every other round, if hit with a melee attack, Kal will use Dragonflame Mantle. EDIT: Jeff, I think I prefer to just keep saying when Kal will use Dragonflame Mantle, since it just says when he's hit, so it could technically be activated by a ranged attack, too, and I'd prefer to not have any confusion where you assume I wanted to use it but maybe I wanted to save it.

Seeing an opening, Streko appraches Warforged #2 from behind, takes a quick moment to glance up into the sky and swings hissickle at Warforged #2's back...once again requesting Olladra's blessing. As soon as he hits the damn thing and Olladra's glorious symbol appears on its back, Streko calls out Grafth's name, and a tendril of Olladra's might lances out and tickles the shifter with pious energy. ____________________________________________________
Streko will sneak up on the warforged and cast Righteous Brand. Not sure what the logistics of that are, Jeff....sorry. Does Streko get +5 for stealth and then what does he get on a sneak attack roll? I'm confused and my head feels like pudding....vanilla pudding...with chocolate swirls...

Okay, I've fixed my mistake (I think). Warforged #5 fell, not warforged #6, who is alive and well and a viable threat to both Kal, Amal, and Tangat. Warforged #6 is, however, still designated as Grafth's quarry (unless Grafth changes quarries) and Belarin's curse recipient.
Darren, unless you tell me otherwise, the going rule could be: Kal will use Dragonflame Mantle the first time he's hit in any battle. If you want to make it easy.

Grafth wastes no time, darting in toward the warforged once again. Vaulting over Tangat, his handaxe is a blur once more, aiming for the base of his enemy's neck.
As soon as his feet touch the deck he jumps back next to Streko, taking a moment to survey the scene before him.
Grafth uses Evasive Strike (1d20+6=25) Damage (2d8+3=9) Hunter's Quarry Damage (1d8=2)

Belarin lets out a barking laugh as the battle seems to have reached a turning point. "Ha! Lord Hornet has a mighty sting, indeed!" Still standing behind Charis, he lets his eyes flare with disturbing colors as he points his dagger at the warforged in front of his lovely ally. "Dullard who's with Malice aligned / With spite I gladly burn your mind!" _____________________ Move action: None, so no shadow walk this round. Standard action: Attack warforged #4 with eyebite. If that target has dropped before my turn, then Belarin will teleport to the top of the forecastle and attack #8 (the spellcaster) instead. Eyebite attack (1d20+5=21) Eyebite psychic damage, plus Warlock's Curse (1d6+4=6, 1d6=1) = 7 points total, and Belarin is invisible to that warforged until the start of his next turn

Round 5
24 = Charis (total defense) 20 = Warforged 19 = Grafth (evasive strike) 16 = Aundairian 14 = Kal (lightning orb) / Tangat 14 = Streko (righteous brand) 13 = Allies 11 = Belarin (eyebite) 8 = Warforged #8 5 = red-skinned creature ________Charis moves into a purely defensive posture, parrying incoming attacks. "NO SURVIVORS!" the warforged shout almost in unison with their hollow voices, as if repeating a mantra—or an order. Then they shuffle, slightly, each of them sidestepping to change battlefield positions. Blocked on three sides, the warforged facing Kal (#6) growls and barrels its body into his. The force of the movement throws Kal back against the raised wall at the bow of the ship, where he rebounds, dizzy but still on his feet. The warforged (#2) facing the Aundairian and the horned stranger, no longer standing between them, turns its aggression against the stranger again, clearly hoping to finish him off. Its military pick, already slick with the other's blood, weaves back and forth before catching the creature on the arm. The weapon punctures the chainmail, but leaves a lesser wound. The two warforged facing Mist and Charis each attack one opponent. This time, the two women, human and artificial, duck, dodge, and sidesteps the deadly picks. Charis easily parries the blade intended for her. Although the warforged have changed positions, Grafth's quarry is still where he needs it to be. When he leaps over Tangat, his axeblade cuts the air and slides smoothly across the warforged's fibrous neck. The construct immediately lashes out and smacks the blade away, turning a lethal wound into a merely dangerous one. Grafth's feet hit the deck again, and he uses the railing of the ship to reverse momentum, leaping over Tangat once more and darting between Streko and Kal like an acrobat...safely out of reach again. Fully aware of the warforged in front of him—and annoyed by its push—Kal steps back and looses a spell at his intended target: the wand-wielding warforged (#8) on the strand. When the ball of lightning discharges from Skyfang and hurtles through the air, buzzing as it flies, the warforged swats at it even as it crouches into a duck. The wand seems to redirect the orb just enough, and the ball dissolves ineffectually against the hull of the Dissolution. Tangat barks a distraction at the warforged (#6), then dives at its feet with fangs snapping. The wolfdog manages to tear away some woodlike tendrils from the construct's leg. Slipping away from the same warforged, Streko turns to help the Aundairian and the horned stranger. Seeing an opportunity, the warforged he's leaving behind strikes at him with deadly force. Sheer dumb luck—or Olladra's favor—has the pick leave a deep rent in the deck inches from Streko's foot. Scrambling up on higher ground, Streko throws his strength into a sickle-based prayer, swiping his new weapon, the Crescent of Therendor, at the warforged (#2). The construct's armor plating is just too solid, and the halfling's blade skitters harmlessly away. Unwilling to leave Charis and Mist fend for themselves against their opponents, Amal closes the distance and throws his all into a two-handed chop. His strike is perfectly aimed, and his longsword shears through the woody fibers of the construct's shoulder. The warforged's arm, severed from its body, drops to the ground along with a spurt of alchemical fluid. Then the rest of its body drops to the ground with a crash. At the moment of impact, Belarin's body dissolves into a cloud of roiling shadows which melt away. Instantly, the same shadows take shape above the Thunderhead's forecastle. Belarin appears there, one foot on solid wood, the other on the thick stain glass that forms a skylight for the storage room below. Mist takes the opportunity to step further, trying to draw the attention of the only warforged on this side of the battlefield. "No survivors!" she shouts with her higher-set voice, with more teasing in her tone than any of you have heard before. The flat of her scimitar smacks the other construct on the head, then twists and splits some of the cords at its neck. Belarin, commanding the best view of the battle from the forecastle roof ten feet above everyone else, unleashes his next spell. The wand-wielding warforged (#8) reels for a moment, then continues to move across the strand, now three-quarters of the way across. Halting again for one brief moment, it produces a glass flask from somewhere on its body and lobs it overhand. Belarin sees the flask arc just above the gunwale of the Thunderhead, but is helpless to do anything about it. When it strikes the ground, nearly hitting Lever in the foot, the glass shatters. Some sort of liquid spills out and immediately bursts into flame! But the flame burns red and orange only for a moment, then turns a solid blue in color. Grafth and Kal feel deadly heat radiating up from the deck at their feet as the flame takes hold on the wood, but frost seems to collect at its edge. Bizarre alchemy or magic is at work. Even as they move to evade the hot-cold flames, both Kal and Grafth remember something very similar...from the Ferenthoron residence in Fairhaven. Worse—the flames are now licking at the unconscious bodies of the Phoenix survivors. One of them is already wholely immolated, but the rest—a man, a woman, and the boy—might yet be dragged free of the hungry flames. For the moment, Lever ignores the icy-hot flames that burn at his composite plating and grabs at the boy. "Grafth, please, help me with them!" he shouts. The red-skinned stranger pauses a moment, seeming to take stock of his injuries, speaking to himself as he does. Then he lifts his gaze and stares directly into the eyes of the warforged standing between himself, Streko, and the Aundairian. "You shall not prevail," he spits at the construct, then looks over the construct's shoulder. "We must finish this abomination off now, my Lord Dassek! The others will require our aid!" The stranger brings up his shield, turning slightly to his right so that the metal protects as much of his injured body as it can, and launches himself into the warforged. Once again, the warforged's thick plating rebounds the blow. The Aundairian—'Lord Dassek'—curses in response. "Damn them to KHYBER!" he screams, seeing the blue fire on deck. __________________ Updated map.

Charis takes quick stock of the situation, then darts forward to slide the point of her rapier into a gap in Warforged #7's side while it faces off against Mist. Seeing her blade bounce ineffectually off its armor, Charis summons up a second furious attack from somewhere deep inside and lunges at the warforged again. Move: close distance between Charis and Warforged #7 Flank attack: Piercing Strike 1d20=4
OOC: Not sure what modifiers I need for the above -- if I need to roll to see if she actually made a flank attack, or if it's enough to say that she is? So I just did the one roll, unmodified. Not a very good one, either, darn it.
ETA: Charis will use an action point to attack a second time in the same round: 1d20+3=12

Marcy, flanking is merely a matter of who's standing where, not a special attack. In order to be flanking, you and an ally have to be on complete opposite sides of an enemy. That wouldn't work right now the way Mist and Charis are positioned, but if Amal or Mist move into a better position (which they just might), Charis can slide into a flanking position. I'll keep that in mind when I move her.
As for bad rolls...
Do remember, though, that you can always use an action point. Everyone still has one left, except Belarin (represented by the bullets in the signature of my posts). An action point lets you take another standard action to attack again. So if you're really desperate, feel free.

Kal snarls in anger as he charges towards the railing of the ship, seeming to not notice the fire as he moves through it. He thrusts his hands out towards the approaching warforged, his anger manifesting itself between his hands in the shape of an orb that constantly shifts colors even as it begins to hurtle through the air towards Kal's enemy.
____________ Grrrr.....
Kal is moving to the spot on the map currently between Tangat and Charis. He is then casting Chromatic Orb at Warforged #8. Obviously, if it ends up turquoise, he'll try to slide the warforged into open air.
And, as in previous rounds, Dragonflame Mantle will apply if he's hit with a melee attack.

"Black hells!" Streko once again focuses his will, his prayers and every ounce of his being into a prayer to Olladra, unleashing her divine might through his holy symbol, bathing the entire area in a wide radius around in her energy. Olladra's power lances out at Warforged #2. ____________________________________________________

Grafth heeds Lever's call, stowing his axe and wading into blue flame for the second time in his life. He reaches down for the child. The shifter winces in pain as he pulls the boy up out of the fire and slings him over his shoulder, moving quickly toward the storage room.
"Can you hear me?" He asks, not entirely expecting an answer. He looks the child over and does what he can quickly to give him comfort. After only a moment he stands and focuses in on his warforged quarry. His eyes alight, and he lets fly with his dagger.
Grafth uses Careful Attack (1d20+6=12) Damage (1d4+3=7) If moving the child and attacking is two major actions, Grafth will use an action point to cover it.

Seeing that Amal, Mist, and Charis can cope with the closest foe, Belarin takes a moment to glare at the warforged beneath him, and then moves back a couple of steps and he concentrates again on the arcane warforged. Hurling a red-and-silver eldritch bolt, he exclaims, "Wind-up wizard who plays with fire / Your final screams will me inspire!" ___________________________ Minor action: Place Warlock's Curse on warforged #7. Move action: Move 2 squares down and 1 square to the right, to get in a better position against #7 next round if necessary. Shadow walk is back on! Standard action: Attack warforged #8 with eldritch blast. Eldritch blast attack (1d20+5=12) Eldritch blast damage (1d10+5=11), which includes 1 point from Empowering Shadows. If Kal is able to push warforged #8 off first, then Belarin will attack #7, in which case Warlock's Curse damage is added.

Round 6
24 = Charis (delay) 20 = Warforged 19 = Grafth (careful attack) 16 = Aundairian 14 = Kal (chromatic orb) / Tangat 14 = Streko (beacon of hope) 13 = Allies 12 = Charis (piercing strike x2) 11 = Belarin (eldritch blast) 8 = Warforged #8 5 = red-skinned creature ________Seeing both Amal and Mist ready to coordinate against their nearest foe, Charis holds her attack, ready for a better position... The warforged, however, do not delay. The one (#2) between Streko, the Aundairian, and the horned stranger throws itself bodily against the latter's shield. The stranger finds the unexpected maneuver, and sheer bodyweight of the construct too much. He stumbles backward, off from the elevated platform, and down to the main deck. Although he retains his footing, he finds himself standing unexpectedly within the spread of blue fire! The warforged who stands over Tangat (#6) observes Grafth's movement, clearly wishing to skewer the evasive shifter, but instead turns its wrath against Tangat. But the wolfdog is too nimble for him just now, dancing out of the construct's low sweep. The warforged at the other end of the battle (#7) turns its fury against Mist. Swatting aside her scimitar with its pick, the construct throws itself against the much thinner warforged in an attempt to throw her over the edge. Its body slams into hers, and Mist's smaller frame crashes against the gunwale but she hooks one arm around the rail and keeps herself from losing balance. Grafth snatches the human child off the ground and leaps beyond the flames, feeling the cold burn along his legs as he moves. The boy is clearly out cold, and Grafth sees a rime of frost fully coating his body but the child is breathing shallowly—still alive, then. When he's clear of the unnatural flames, Grafth turns and looks to his quarry, just in time to see the warforged fail in his attempt to impale Tangat on his pick. The shifter flicks his dagger at his quarry...and the blade spins end over end with perfect aim. But the dagger's pommel merely smacks the warforged in the side of the head, doing no harm but sending a ringing sound through the air. The warforged looks back at Grafth. Light pulses from its crystalline eyes and it points at the shifter. Grafth feels fairly certain the warforged and he have bonded in a mutual relationship: each wants the other quite dead. Lord Dassek, the Aundairian, sidesteps until his enemy (warforged #2) is positioned directly between himself and Kal, though Kal stands on a slightly lower level on the main deck. Just before renewing his attack, Lord Dassek's eyes flick to Streko. Streko has seen this man before! In the dragonmarked pavilion in the town of Windshire in western Aundair. This was the dragonhawk rider who tried to arrest him. Streko is certain of it. There's a bit of wonderment in the human's eyes as he looks at Streko, but the look is gone an instant later, melting into an expression of hatred as he attacks the warforged. He cuts through the warforged's defenses but only scores a minor hit. Only now does the heavily-armored construct begin to look weathered. Kal only barely feels the fiery burn of the blue flames as he runs out from its area. He sprints past the red-skinned stranger, slightly unnerved by the creature's diabolic appearance but knowing confidently that he's an ally in this fight. When he moves past the warforged standing there, the construct takes a swing at him...and the pick skims off the surface of Kal's mithral chainmail, failing to find purchase. When he reaches the railing, a sphere of swirling chromatic light has taken shape...then launches itself from the point of Skyfang. Kal's determination lends the spell perfect aim. At the moment of impact, the glowing sphere is white-blue in color—and there is a small explosion of frost and frigid air. When the blast clears, the wand-wielding warforged stands rigid on its strange, encased in a thin layer of ice which seems to have anchored its body in place. Tangat gives up his attack on the warforged in front of him and dashes into the deadly blue flames. The strange fire licks at his fur, but does little but singe the tips as the nimble dog springs through the area, clamps his teeth down on the unconscious woman, and drags here awkwardly to the other side of the deck. Streko clasps the holy symbol around his neck, the domino that represents Olladra, and calls upon her for aid. White-golden light blazes like a cyclone from the symbol. As divine magic washes over the two enemy warforged, they seem enervated by it, their movements becoming slow. As it washes over Streko and his allies, it takes an edge off the pain of their injuries. Meanwhile, Mist ducks away from the railing of the ship, making a feeble swing with her scimitar as she moves, to draw her enemy's attention (#7). "Charis!" she shouts, inviting the human to join. Amal, at the same time, slides forward and throws a distracting swing of his blade at the warforged as well, goading it. Charis's first attempt to get through her enemy's defenses fails, so she renews the attack and seizes the opportunity Amal and Mist have given her. With the construct harried by both Blademark and black-armored warforged, it fails to see Charis's rapier slide clean through the fibers of its stomach, puncturing through to the other side, and loosing a spurt of alchemical fluid as the woman withdraws her blade. Wounded as it is, the damned thing is still standing. From within the fiery blaze, Lever lifts the last of the Phoenix survivors into his arms and marches across the deck, clear of the flames. Belarin moves as the shadows cloak him once again. He unleashes a blast of silver-and-red fire at the wand-wielding, ice-encrusted warforged (#8). Although still frozen in place by Kal's spell, the warforged never ceases to struggle. Pieces of ice break away as it twists its wood-and-metal torso just enough to evade Belarin's attack. Unable to move forward, the warforged shakes its wand and sends a pulse of red magic surging out at Kal. Still flushed with adrenaline from the fight (and inspiration from the horned stranger's actions), Kal reacts quickly, throwing himself out of the red-glowing dart's path...which vanishes an instant later. The red-skinned stranger, now standing amidst the blue flames on the main deck, grunts from the impact of the warforged's shove. Ignoring the fire as if expecting no problem from it, he quickly and adroitly shifts into a more strategic stance opposite the Aundairian, bending his right leg and shifting his weight onto his back foot. He says a few words in his unknown language—a scathing, unseemly tongue—then looks around at his new allies. "You have done well!" he shouts, as if a commanding officer were lauding you in a more formal battlefield. "Lord Dassek and I have this creature!"—he indicates the warforged (#2) just above him—"but the others are slowing. Take them. May you strike swift and sure!" With that, the stranger surges forward, using his shield to try and bash the construct's weapon aside. Bringing his longsword high and straight from lower ground, he draws it across both of the warforged's legs. There is a reddish glow from the stranger's bracers, and fire once more wreathes his blade. Fibers curl and burn, and even the metal plating is deeply scored by the strike. Although the wound he deals is deep, it's in that moment that the stranger himself seems to realize the fire at his feet isn't behaving like normal fire. He gasps from the icy pain. __________________ • Charis delays. • Warforged #2's bull rush attempt vs. stranger's Fortitude defense: 25 (success) / stranger is pushed 1 square, and warforged #2 moves into the vacated space. • Warforged #6's attack vs. Tangat: 11 (miss) • Warforged #7's bull rush attempt vs. Mist's Fortitude defense: 23 (success) / Mist is pushed 1 square. • Mist's saving throw attempt to catch from falling: 20 (success) • Ice-fire attack vs. Grafth's Reflex defense: 20 (hit) / 6 cold and fire damage to Grafth • Grafth's attack: 12 (miss) • Lord Dassek's attack: 25 +2 (flanking) = 27 (hit) / 5 damage to warforged #2 • Warforged #2 is bloodied. • Ice-fire attack vs. Kal's Reflex defense: 19 (hit) / 9 cold and fire damage to Kal • Warforged #6's opportunity attack vs. Kal: 19 (miss) • Kal's attack (chromatic orb) (1d20+5=19) (hit) / random effect (1d6=5) / damage (3d10+5=22) cold damage to warforged #8 • Warforged is bloodied and immobilized. • Tangat's attack (1d20+7=25) • Ice-fire attack vs. Tangat's Reflex defense: 11 (miss) • Streko's attack (beacon of hope) (1d20+6=23) • Warforged #2 and warforged #6 are weakened (cause only half damage). • Streko, Lord Dassek, the stranger, Lever, Tangat, and Kal are healed 5 hit points (for those that needed it). • Mist's attack: 10 (miss) • Amal's attack to aid another: 24 (success, granting Charis a +2 on her attack) • Charis's attack (piercing strike): d4 +8 = 12 (miss) • Charis spends an action point. • Charis's second attack (piercing strike): d9 +8 +2 (flanking) +1 (nimble blade) +2 (Amal's aid another) = 22 (hit) / damage (1d8+4=8) + sneak attack damage (1d8=1) = 9 damage to warforged #7 • Ice-fire attack vs. Lever's Reflex defense: 14 (hit) / 3 cold and fire damage to Lever • Belarin is concealed. • Belarin's attack (eldritch blast): 12 (miss) • Warforged #8's attack vs. Kal's Reflex defense: 14 (miss) • Warforged #8's saving throw to end immobilization: 9 (failure) • Stranger's attck: 17 +2 (flanking) +1 (bloodhunt) = 20 (hit) / 10 damage +4 fire damage to warforged #2 • Streko also gains a +2 power bonus to AC and cannot be pulled, pushed, or slid until the end of round 7. • Ice-fire attack vs. stranger's Reflex defense: 28 (hit) / 11 cold damage to stranger
Marcy, hope you didn't mind: At the top of the initiative order, Charis would have no tactical advantage. She needed others to move before she could find a better strategy.

The vibrant power of Olladra's magic has barely begun to fade before Streko once again reaches out with one arm, this time at the warforged monstronsity standing driectly in front of him. Once again calling on his patron goddess, Streko feels her warmth and energy fill him and arc out towards his foe through his holy symbol and down his outstretched arm. ____________________________________________________

Kal smirks at the immobilized warforged. Glancing to the side, he shouts to Belarin, "I've got this one," as he gestures towards the wand-wielding construct with Skyfang. Even as he does, a ball of electricity forms on the tip of the dagger and hurls itself towards the warforged.

Belarin shrugs and mutters, "Ah, machismo...!" before stepping forward and pointing his dagger at the warforged directly beneath him. His eyes again flaring with energy, he says, "In an evil master's thrall / Now it's time for you to fall!" _________ Move action: One square "up." Standard action: Attack warforged below with eyebite. Eyebite attack (1d20+6=17); Prime Shot applies. Eyebite damage, plus Warlock's Curse (1d6+4=6, 1d6=6) = 6 points psychic plus 6 more points. Round 7
20 = Warforged 19 = Grafth (careful attack) 16 = Aundairian 14 = Kal (lightning orb) / Tangat 14 = Streko (lance of faith) 13 = Allies 12 = Charis (bait & switch) 11 = Belarin (eyebite) 8 = Warforged #8 5 = red-skinned creature ________Enervated by Streko's spell, the warforged (#2) standing over him turns its weapon against the source of its ire. But the military pick fails to penetrate the halfling's new armor! The one beside Kal (#6) seems to throw its companions' tactics to the wind and thunders around the area of blue fire. Kal spins at the opportunity, ready to trip up the warforged with his sharash, but the construct merely shoulders him aside. When Grafth sees the warforged coming at him, he present himself, then twirls his body aside—just barely—from a deadly sweep of the military pick. The third warforged (#7) shifts out from between the three combatants around it, and throws its full strength into another attack against Mist. Unprepared for the vicious assault, the slender warforged is unable to deflect it with her weapon. The military pick punctures clear through her body arm all the way to its haft. The enemy warforged kicks her clear from its weapon, and Mist staggers back against the railing. Another blow like that could kill her. No longer needing to close the distance to his quarry (#6), Grafth aims his handaxe into the warforged's side. But the blade misses by a hair, and leaves only a dent in the composite plating. The Aundairian, Lord Dassek, also fails to find a solid hit against the warforged between he and the horned stranger. Kal sends a second orb of electricity hurtling through the air at the wand-wielding warforged (#8) on the strand. This time, it strikes the construct in the center of it abdomen, sending tongues of lightning surging across its body. Kal hears a satisfying grunt from the warforged. Smoke rises from its body. Tangat, unable to get past Grafth where the blue fire still burns, barks madly as he leaps past Lever, up onto the raised portion of the bow, and tears in a circle around to help against the warforged (#2) there. Streko, meanwhile, shifts back a few feet to stay out of that construct's reach, forming another blazing lance of faith. Although the warforged moves slowly compared to Streko's companions, it manages to duck just in time from the radiant bolt, which streaks above the railing and vanishes in the sky beyond. Mist stumbles away from her foe, clearly discomforted by her grave injury, and flattens herself up against the forecastle just below Belarin. Somehow, she seems to duck into some of the lingering shadows of the sorcerer's magic. To cover her retreat, Amal renews his attack, cutting a swath into the warforged's (#7) stomach. Charis joins him, attempting to maneuver the warforged in a different direction, goading it toward her. But the warforged doesn't take the bait, keeping its stance where it is and looking after Mist...then it seems to grow dizzy, coinciding with Belarin's rhyming attack from above. A split second later, the strand-crossing warforged (#8), its feet still frozen to the webbing, gestures with its wand speaks an arcane phrase. Lightning spews from the wand and forks in the air— One tongue of electricity surges inches past Kal; he feels the air sizzling at the edge of his skin. One tongue of electricity skewers Belarin where he stands upon the forecastle. He feels an instant of horrific pain, then it passes, but he smells the burnt fabric of his cloak and sees the hairs on his arms standing on end. One tongue of electricity slams into Mist, throwing her against the wall and dropping her motionless to the deck. The wand-wielding warforged bellows in triumph, but is still unable to shake its feet free from its icy imprisonment. Looking down, the red-skinned stranger seems to realizes that the blue flame burns not only with heat but also with cold. Immediately he sprints from the fire, avoiding the worst of it, but in doing so is forced to grant the warforged above him an advantageous attack. But this time the construct's weapon hits only a glancing blow to the stranger's shield. The strange moves into position opposite the barking Tangat, glancing curiously at the strategic-minded wolfdog, then strikes his sword against his shield. An odd, clear bell-like sound rings out. "Abomination!" he shouts at his enemy with a grin. "No survivors!" His blade drags across the warforged's chest. At the same time, he shouts, " Now, my lord. Strike!!" As if on cue, the Aundairian attacks again, striking his blade on the back of the warforged's head. Another jarring crash rings out at the sound. The warforged's body is badly dented and grooved. It doesn't look like it will take much more to send it down. __________________ • Minor actions: all remaining warforged gain 14 temporary hit points (warforged resolve). • Warforged #2's attack vs. Streko: 13 +1 (battlefield tactics) = 14 (miss) • Kal's opportunity attack (1d20+7=15) (miss) • Warforged #6's attack vs. Grafth: 17 (miss) • Warforged #7's attack vs. Mist: 29 (critical hit) / 12 damage to Mist • Mist is bloodied. • Grafth's attack: 12 (miss) • Dassek's attack: 16 +2 (flanking) = 18 (miss) • Kal's attack (lightning orb) (1d20+6=18) (hit) / damage (1d10+5=9) lightning to warforged #8 • Streko's attack (lance of faith) (1d20+6=8) (miss) • Mist shifts and makes a Stealth check: 17 • Amal's attack: 24 (hit) / 9 damage to warforged #7 • Charis's attack (bait & switch) (1d20+8=9) (miss) • Belarin's attack (eyebite): 17 (hit) / 12 psychic damage to warforged #7 • Warforged #8's attack vs. Kal: 14 (miss) • Warforged #8's attack vs. Belarin: 30 -2 (concealment) = 28 (critical hit) / 10 lightning damage to Belarin • Warforged #8's attack vs. Mist: 22 (hit) / 8 lightning damage to Mist • Mist is inert, if not dead. • Ice-fire vs. stranger's Reflex defense: 10 (miss) • Warforged #2's attack vs. stranger: 15 (miss) • Stranger's attack: 26 +2 (flanking) + 1 (bloodhunt) = 29 (hit) = 6 damage to warforged #2 • Dassek's attack: 22 (hit) / 11 damage to warforged #2
